KSP2 Release Notes

So I just saw an official thread posted in the Steam forums, that with all the new changes due to Unity, and that the console versions of KSP cant support mods, Squad will be locking up the KSP API starting in v1.2, and bringing the PC version more inline with the console builds, so that mods will no longer be supported. KSP will then be "Play vanilla...or Go Home!" EDIT: Yes, now that its April 2nd, this WAS a lame attempt at an April Fools joke...

Another thing I've been seeing, is lots of mods that havent been updated since 1.0.2 or so, AND the authors havent been on the forums in as much as several months, are starting to pop back into the forums... The point is, once talk of 1.1 was released, it was known BIG changes were coming, meaning mod breaking changes... I bet lots of devs decided not to bother updating for 1.0.4/.5, and to just wait for 1.1... Who knows, many probably just needed breaks from modding... But with 1.1 now starting to actually make an appearance, I bet you will see many come back from these long hiatuses... So yeah, dont assume just because an author hasnt been on since last summer, that a mod is dead... And as others have pointed out, the 1.1 pre-release is meant as a chance for users to find and give input on bugs, IN THE STOCK GAME... So dont expect miracles from authors... If stock is buggy, then mods will likely still be buggy until well after the full 1.1 release drops...

Will you still use Linux after KSP 1.1?
Stone Blue replied to peachoftree's topic in KSP1 Discussion
You should take a look again... I agree with you... When I tried Linux years ago, I saw the same... But now, about the only thing I cant seem to do in Linux that I can do in Windows is watch/stream video on the net...I think you will start seeing a growing migration away from MS computer products/software when Win7 hits EoS... Withthe big stink when Win8 hit, there are MANY holdouts that run 7... When 7 dies, those people (obviously) arent going to want to go with 8/8.1... Muchless, if they didnt like 8/8.1, they SURE as heck arent going to like 10 AT ALL... And with Linux seemingly getting distros that have much improved GUI/desktops, and more software supporting Linux, that will only help... The only thing that will keep Windows alive at that point, will be commercial usage... -
Yupp... lol Oh, and if possible, and not too much trouble, mod developers, could you mention upon pre-1.1 releases, backward compatibility?... At least with 1.0.5? Thanx! I get what you're saying, and where you're coming from... And yes, there are lots of times where I wish devs were more organized and more forthcoming with info regarding updates & releases... But...?? And all month, I have already seen repeated "where's update for 1.1?"/"will this be updated for 1.1?" posts, all WITHIN a couple posts of each other, on release threads... Its like, Dang!, you cant scroll up even a couple posts to see someone already poked the bear, before you go and do the exact same??...AND this was EVEN BEFORE 1.1 pre-release even dropped!!... so yeah, it IS happening... And if ANYONE riots, I would expect it to be the Bears Devs... LOL ... Which would be bad for ALL of us...
-
Flame me if you will... I see a lot of repeated posts asking for 1.1 updates on a lot of Release threads... Before posting to a thread, just keep in mind that the current 1.1 is just a PRE-release... And it hasnt even been out a full 3 DAYS yet... Its probably a good idea to actually READ the last few posts on the thread to see if someone else has already requested updates, or if the dev has already posted comments about an update... Also, hover over the dev's name, and check when they were last on the forums... I would imagine anyone who has been on within the last month certainly knows 1.1 has dropped, (or last they knew, was CLOSE to dropping...) So I would imagine there would be no need to start poking I mean asking for updates... If you feel you NEED to make some sort of request or comment, please do so nicely... Mods, feel free to move or delete, or lock this if needed

@Ravien It seems I may have found a conflict between this mod and NavUtilities, and possibly other mods... Pleeze see this post on the NavUtilities thread explaining the issue and fix. Thanx!

Will you still use Linux after KSP 1.1?
Stone Blue replied to peachoftree's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Hmmm... Looks like Restricted Extras are illegal in some countries due to copyright/patents? Also, what version of Flash does it install?... Last I heard Adobe quit supporting Flash for Linux awhile ago... -
ksp 64 bit Ubuntu
Stone Blue replied to rvgmofficial's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
I guess I dont understand why you even need to run KSP in a VM on Linux, when theres an actual Linux version of KSP? -
Will you still use Linux after KSP 1.1?
Stone Blue replied to peachoftree's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I will be keeping my triple-boot, but since playing KSP on Linux, I've been using Linux more for everything else too. The only real thing keeping me from using Linux exclusively, is that $#$@@ Adobe Flash!!... In Linux, 80% of the news sites I browse, I cant watch the video clips... I also cant stream TV shows or movies... I've gotten every Windows version since 95, but after using Win8.1 for the past couple years, theres NO way I will be touching Win10, and likely nothing after that either... With what they pulled for Xbox One, I wont ever be going with an MS console again either.. So hopefully I can cut Microsoft products completely out of my life soon... As to more specificly if I'll play KSP on Linux vs Windows with 1.1: Most likely Linux... I only have 6GB RAM (hopefully upgrading to 8GB soon)... Win8.1 uses 1.3~1.5GB at idle... That leaves me 4.2~4.5GB for KSP... but my Lubuntu uses only 250~300MB at idle... So that will leave me 5~5.5GB for KSP... So yes between that, and less crap running in the background using the CPU as well, still an advantage to Linux for KSP, for me, for those reasons alone -

[1.1] NavUtilities, ft. HSI & Instrument Landing System
Stone Blue replied to kujuman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@kujuman I've also had an issue in 1.0.5 with NavUtils display conflicting with the display of Critical Temperature Gauge Only one will display at a time; Cant have both showing at the same time. Also, no matter where I have NU located on the screen, as soon as I open Critical Temp, the NU display disappears. Clicking the NU toolbar button, reopens NU, and closes Crit. Temp, but NU is now located in the top center of the screen, right under the top KSP UI. I have a doctors appt. this morning, but later today I can provide pics & logs if necessary. Thanx -

WELL! THAT explains a lot!!... No wonder why I couldnt figure out why my RT relays were drifting so quickly/badly... Odd, since I remember hearing the 2,863.334m number thrown around for quite awhile now...WAY before 1.0.5 I beleive... odd.. -

In addition to the issue Temeter stated, to reduce part count, I ALWAYS strut FROM removable parts, TO the base craft. ie attach struts to booster, then stretch them to the main craft... That way, when those assemblies drop, the strut goes with them, and doesnt leave the "stub" on your crafts... Now, if we could just get the radial decouplers to mount this way... (There IS a radial separator part that NovaSilisko made along time ago, and still works in all KPS versions (at least up to current 1.0.5), floating around the web...)

No, you're just too early... No point really discussing what mods will/will not work in 1.1, as no one knows exactly what will be changed in 1.1... And nothing can really be done with parts models & textures yet, as a new Part Tools is also not available yet...

[Windows/KSP 1.1] Kerbal Config Editor v1.1 Release
Stone Blue replied to IRnifty's topic in KSP1 Tools and Applications
No problem... Thanx! -
That one cannot be resurrected, unless the original dev comes back... The best someone could do is try recreating it completely from scratch... It has a completely restricted, All Rights Reserved license. It s always a good idea to first check the license when considering taking over, resurrecting, or suggesting it for someone to do... I learned this the hard way...
