The Stock Propeller / Rotor DEVELOPMENT Thread
Jetenginestar replied to Jetenginestar's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Holy Cow, that's a lot of designs you have there xD -
So I'm seeing a lot of designs around the KSP Forums, so I've made a thread so that we can share all our designs, thoughts and knowledge here Starting off with a propeller torque test. The further the Reaction wheel is from the axis, the higher the rotational speed. Sgt_Flyers bearing has reached it's limits. There's too much vibration and friction which makes rotating at high RPM very difficult, looking into a new smoother bearing design. Ailerons also did nothing to increase RPM due to very low speed... anddd I accidentally turned my Propeller into a Rotor Sgt_Flyers's bearing had no problem, the problem was actually not having enough reaction wheels to go high RPM. After a few speed records, the prop enging hitting it's limits due to Turbine effect. Now the Challenge lies in making a blade that does not get effected by the turbine effect...

Boeing 747 with Piggy Back Mk3 Space Shuttle
Jetenginestar replied to Westi29's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
In case you are interested into the technical aspects of the real thing, here's a video about it. Notice that the shuttle is mounted at an upward angle and is positioned parallel to the ground on release... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dijD4J3vX5Y -
Stock propellers ?! The new Cargo Bays certainly make Good Casing for the engines, I might jump back in developing a stock TurboFan Btw, whats the top speed of this thing?

It's actually 37.5 degrees I think, small typo? -

I know that feel bro xD build the fuselage out of wings, and it literally becomes a flying bathtub -
My early crafts I made airplanes first before making rockets My first VTOL that can takeoff but can't land, back when overpowered reaction wheels didn't existed... I will always remember doing Mun orbit transfers by raising the apoasis 15 degres ahead of the Mun technique as taught by the game tutorial, I had no idea orbital planners exist LOL

Giving BD's Burn Together a go, was disappointed that you can't do airshows without RCS... -

Working on the Su-27, It can easily reach very high Angle of Attacks thanks to static instability. -
Better Cockpit Visibility?
Jetenginestar posted a topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Other than the MK1 I have found that the other cockpits for space planes have horrible ground visibility. The MK2 cockpits are indeed improvements from the MK1-2 Comand Pods, But if I nose up like 5 degrees I would still loose sight of the runway, which makes landing planes in IVA less entertaining. I hope the upcoming MK3 cockpits have larger windows. -
So I finally got around to writing a KSP review on Steam.

That's one thing I love about KSP, you're thrown with a bunch of parts, and you can make anything you want. Like ANYTHING, as long as you can imagine it . -
Show off your Kethane Mining Designs!!
Jetenginestar replied to Amphiprion's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Under water Kethane drilling, still needs refinement though as the descent speed is 0.6m/s with all that buoyancy... -

So, I accidentally stalled my 747 and it left quite a nice crater -
Exploring the possibilities of mining underwater Kethane, so far results are showing that it would be costly without hack gravity. Descend rate with Hack Gravity at full throttle = 16.4 m/s Ascent rate with Hack Gravity at 0 throttle = 0 m/s Descend rate without Hack Gravity at full throttle = 0.6 m/s Ascent rate without Hack Gravity at 0 throttle = 16.1 m/s Will only use it when all the land Kethane runs out xD

I'd say the Klaw is our best friend when it comes to practical Air to Air Refueling... -
I play Kerbin Colonizing Program more than Kerbal Space Program, so I spend a lot of time on Kerbin. I like the blue ozone but, but the yellowish sunrises and sunsets seem to look rather dull :/ Is moding a different color sunrise possible?
