Show off your Debris Near Misses here!
AlamoVampire replied to AlamoVampire's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Was just returning from the Mun and during the descent after reentry heating I had a rather fun near miss with a piece of debris passing under 100m from the capsule. By time I was able to realize the this was happening, I barely had time to shut the UI down and aim the camera at it giving this the illusion more room than it had at the moment of near miss. sorry its so dark, I was reentering Kerbin on the night side. But, you can see a chunk of the service stage just above me. I cannot be the only one having near misses here guys, come one, come all, share your stories and pictures of near misses! Let us commiserate the close calls and remember the fallen who were not so lucky to enjoy a near miss and instead took it right on the chin! 071802152025 -
after a bit of a cool down break, I did a Mun mission. This one went much better than Minmus, and netted almost 100 more science too! This leaves me a few nodes left to unlock in science tech tree. Once I do that, i am going to have to decide go back to my prime save or stay in science. Meanwhile, ON the way to the Mun: Nice eclipse. 071102152025

I am FURIOUS with ksp right now! I just want to do a SIMPLE minmus rover mission. I had a nice encounter with minmus set up and then i do the burn. Burn complete and im off plane and on a flyby of the mun… as a result i am stuck in space trying to not yeet my computer across the room. Things are so screwed up mechjeb cannot or will not find a bloody intercept with minmus after ordering a plane match. Wish me luck. 014302152025 and its been years since ksp got me THIS angry. what should be a 10 day (kerbal clock) mission has so far taken 64 and im STILL not circularized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Capture completed at MET: 0y,64d, 4:48:00…… 015202152025 btw yes i know ive subjected myself to sunk cost fallacy. Why? Im not a clear thinker when angry. Now im landing and calmer… still angry but calmer. Angry at ksp, and angry at something else too. Heady bad combo. Thx for letting an old fool vent. 015702152025 yea im angry at the spam calls too… splashdown at MET: 0y, 93d, 04:42:29. 93 days, 4 hours, 42 minutes, and 29 seconds. For a stupid minmus mission. Even landing took longer than normal. Aerobraking typically gets me down first try. This time even setting target atmo depth to 35km took two passes…. Im not sure the 397.8 science from a minmus mission with a rover was worth it. Yes now i have 744 total science, but a minmus mission even one where you send a rover up to the ship going to minmus should take 10 times longer than normal. 023302152025

Thats what I honestly feared. I would have hoped the powers that be who renewed 5 months ago would be more open and communicative. Given their silence up until now, I am left with the distinct feeling we have 42 days left as a community. Is it negative to hold this stance? Yes. Is it the safe bet? Also yes. Until the actual license holder says something I will be expecting the worst. Sad as that is to say. 01102152025 thanks @Vanamonde

Given that the 6 month mark from when it was announced the forum license was renewed for 6 months is next month has there been any word on that front or can it safely be assumed at this time our time here is 42 days left before what could likely be a full shut down in march when said license runs out? 003502152025 003802152025 found the precise 6 month mark

31 more spam calls. Today thats 31 spam calls reported as junk. The number of spam numbers seems to be actually slowing as some of those 31 are numbers that called multiple times. Need the volume to drop now too. I have been pushed past 500 calls and sit sadly at 508 total. Thats 508 total since 1-26-25… 508… 164802142025 509… 165402142025 510… 172202142025

As another possibility to the potentials stated above i suggest checking the power state of the one that is not communicating. If it lost power while you had direct control (as in you were flying it, doing orbital operations, and/or were set to it and time warped without a solar panel(s) to recharge it it could be without electric charge. If thats the case (no power that is) dont feel bad, happens to us all. Good luck 092102142025

I sent a seismic slam mission to minmus and as i type im now sending one to the mun. Ive seismic sensors spread across the surface of both. Why not use them? 053402142025 here are some pictures of the mun seismic slam mission: here it is a moment prior to impact: also, unlocked the glacier launch site, and spotted something on descent: Do you see what I spotted? Not the Mun, thats too easy. But, I promise, what I spotted IS in this image Its a level 0 wheres waldo 054902142025

My point was more of not that it was stolen but that they were not being original in the slightest. Its not the first time music from other composers have been used as ringtones. My mothers old cellphone had a piece by Motzart but i cant recall offhand which one though. 010302142025 By that note The chord progression for Pachelbel's Canon in D is D major, A major, B minor, F# minor, G major, repeated over four measures. what point am i making? Is that music gets ripped off all the time. A sample of this using the above chord progression: Basket Case: By Green Day in 1994 Don't Look Back in Anger: By Oasis in 1996 Memories: By Maroon 5 in 2019 Spicks and Specks: By the Bee Gees in 1966 Rain and Tears: By Aphrodite's Child in 1968 Oh Lord, Why Lord: By Pop-Tops in 1968 One Tin Soldier: By the Original Caste in 1969 Streets of London: By Ralph McTell in 1974 Gemilang: By Krakatau in 1986 just saying 010602142025

As you all know i have been getting an obscene number of spam calls as of the last two weeks or so. I have my phone set to silence unknown callers and I have been blocking them. What I did not know is that my phone could do with spam calls what it can do with spam texts. I can block AND report to my carrier the call as junk. It only took me 477 of them to learn this. I wish i knew this two weeks ago. Or even 48 hours ago so i could report 440+ as junk, but not knowing this feature i had already deleted the call log before learning this after todays wave. 221402132025

I dont honestly know. Its the first time ive run into it. My saves (prime and sci) only have ksc, island, woomarang ((sp??)) and desert but tracking station shows more are out there but not currently visible. It has a launch pad, vab, and relay dish and if you have a communications relay network the beams displayed converge at it. Idk what information im lacking… 055002132025

Orbital Periods and Drifting Satellites
AlamoVampire replied to AlamoVampire's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
While getting infuriated over the central launch site not unlocking, I rechecked my relay net. Its actually sat 1 thats gone rogue. 2 is across from 4, as was intended, 1 WAS across from 3, but has fallen behind 4 where its not supposed to be. This means 1 of 2 things. 1. It has gone rogue. Or 2: the other 3 are in absolute lock step down to the nanosecond with each other and that their periods are somehow shorter or quicker by less than what stock shows. Which is eerie in and of itself yet more likely, because I never altered number 1's orbit once I got it stable during circularization and dumped its engine package. It was set as the key at what ever period it wound up at, which was 1h4m10s. 051002132025 -
well, frankly, I am getting ANGRY with KSP right now. I just was at the launch site that looks like the EARLY EARLY EARLY KSC from like 0.13 early and yet my tracking station and launch options do not reveal it. I know its the site, because the first visit? was a targeted landing from orbit via mechjeb. spotted it from under 10,000m wound up touching down a few kilometers away. I then built a quick rocket, launched from the desert launch site, flew there with cheat fuel on. and landed in it. I then built a plane and flew to it, landed IN it, got out, walked around and still nothing. What am I doing wrong to NOT unlock it? This is infuriating. 050302132025

Its amazing just how much we forget during our breaks from ksp isnt it? You go to do something and muscle memory says it can be done, remembers doing it, but our actual memory goes and says i vaguely recall it but no idea how. Glad you got pointed back at your clear overlay 222402122025

I see where youre pointing. My view is its like all that is wrong in the fictions as well as history got chucked into a blender giving us what we have. And OCP/Old Detroit kinda feel like the closest analogue to the reality we face which is horrifying. It scares me how much these fictions seem to be predicting whats coming. If that makes sense. Am i making sense? 073202122025

You forgot the Robocop OCP reference I made with a single image. And its terrifying. I want so much to not be witness to it but here we are. I mean it is happening with thunderous applause bought with a dollar. 060902122025

Everyone knows Nokia. Namely its famous ringtone. What most do not know is that Nokia ripped that ringtone off. Come with me to the year 1902. We go to a country, that country? Spain. We find a Spanish composer named Francisco Tárrega. He composed a tune named Gran Vals. Have a listen. It occurs twice. I hope you enjoyed. 211402112025

Orbital Periods and Drifting Satellites
AlamoVampire replied to AlamoVampire's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I think the ksp clock is kerbal time. If the drift is nominal then why do 3 out of the 4 still appear to be holding their initial location in the race track with only 1 being the rogue drifter wildly out of place? But seeing as I am not currently at my computer I couldnt begin to tell you which of the 4 has gone rogue. I do know its one of the two in the OP that are close to each other. 1 was across from 3 while 2 was across from 4 at initial set up. Which ever one between the two isnt across from its partner is the rogue. I can check later if needed. 181302112025 -
All i can say is it also feels like they took the star wars prequels as a blueprint too. We are doomed. 172702112025 i am irritated I did not realize something. We missed one. im going to be worried now. 173202112025

Orbital Periods and Drifting Satellites
AlamoVampire replied to AlamoVampire's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
They have been on orbit for 3 years 240 days and change. All 4 were roughly back to back launches within a day to day and a half time delay at most (their METs are displayed in the images) between number 1&4. The drift was first spotted in an earlier generation that was placed in geostationary. 172202112025 ill have to try a higher orbit later.
