  1. Yeah they are from the MK2 extended mod, along with the linear aerospike engine and the other two outboard engines. Thanks for the compliment, I am trying a new wing design out on that craft, and I am liking it so far.
  2. Well I am back in the SSTO cargo business. My new light cargo/utility SSTO space plane. SP-265 is based on some new design philosophies and lessons learned in designing better fighter aircraft, now we are making sleeker, meaner, and faster SSTOs.
  3. Dont forget to set the turbojets to 50%, and take pics to show this. But GREAT looking craft. - - - Updated - - - Ok the problem of the SAS wobble is caused by over control of the craft, you will have to reduce the control surface angles to reduce this affect. The other option is to get the PID Tuner, that is what I use along with the reduction in control surface angles. I usually change the default angles from 20 to 12-15deg max depending on the surface, the position on the craft and the job. And my favorite shot of my new craft....
  4. The funny thing is that design was inspired by a few aircraft in history. YF-23 Black Widow A-4 Skyhawk and the Avro Vulcan The intakes are not the most efficient design, I can make them better but I cant squeeze them in that small area. I may change the intakes inside that space to increase max altitude and performance, but I will have to do some more testing before I make any major changes. Right now the craft is pretty nice as is. And thanks to this challenge I started rethinking some of my design philosophies on my SSTO fighter line and built a new SSTO fighter, that is surprisingly easy to fly. NOT FOR THE CHALLENGE!
  5. That feature I use quite a bit.
  6. No FAR, equals NO-GO for me. But I look forward to see what interesting contraptions people come up with.
  7. Are any parts clipped into each other? I have found if I have parts clipped into each other or slightly overlapped it leads to this bug. Not all parts do it but some parts do it, especially if on a wing or other lifting surface.
  8. I built my first SSTO of the month..... Took 20min to build and another 30min to test. Surprisingly easy again.... now to go big and work on interplanetary craft.
  9. I use both... Depends on the situation. Most of the time I use MJ for routine missions or things I want to get the exact same results in every time. Otherwise I do it myself. But I also run FAR so MJ isnt the best for most operations in that.
  10. There is a bit of a difference between car design and aircraft design. While that Buick Convertible was great looking for its time, it was designed in a wind tunnel or to handle speeds in excess of 100mph. The F-106 Delta Dart there was designed in a wind tunnel and was the peak of technology in the 1960s, not to mention one of the hottest single engine fighters in the air for almost 20 years. Now that Ferrari, Ferrari have always taken a different approach to car design, they design their cars to be works of art AND functional, so they end up compromising somewhere in the middle and often coming up with works of fantastic art. If you want to see function over form, look at the Bugatti Veyron that thing is horrible looking, but it was designed in a wind tunnel, with no other job than to go fast, and stay on the ground. The YF-23, which to me was the REAL winner of that contest and the biggest mistake the Airforce made. It is designed to be fast, sleek and stealthy. While it didnt turn as well as the F-22 it did many things better, flew further, higher, and faster all the while carrying more weapons, and stores.
  11. So the XF-150A finished its supercruise test. Mach 1.075 was the best at 10km alt. It held this speed with a full combat load of air to air weapons, 6 AIM-9X, 2 AIM-120Cs, 3 251.5L Drop Tanks. Total flight time 1:12min (3sec shy of 12min but whats 3sec)
  12. Then there is the whole Doppler affect that you would have to model for the radars, which if the target is "stationary" to the tracking system it would become "invisible". This is a trick that modern fighters use to evade radar locks by other aircraft, turn and attempt to match the closing speed of the engaging aircraft to create a 0 or near 0 speed difference and thus they disappear into ground clutter. These things are CPU intensive, expecially when you are talking about multi-part craft like the ones in KSP. Where some craft can number in the hundreds of parts. I know in Falcon 4.0 and Falcon BMS they do these things and it is simple to do in those games but those are single part aircraft or extremely low part count aircraft. Where the engine isn't tracking every individual component of the craft as it travels through the air, calculating load, temp, and if you use FAR pressure.
  13. Stock with BD, that is it. I will post the craft file later when I finish putting it through the trials. So expect it by the end of the week at the latest. - - - Updated - - - Looks like a dart, I like the simplicity of the design. But where are the weapons going to be held?
  14. That I think would add a lot more load on the CPU than the current system. May cause more lag than current. But I do like the suggestion, I would just drop the Kerbal skill and AI/Radar/probe core difference.
  15. I detached the drop tanks before both fights. Mind you your craft out performs my XF-149B even with the drop tanks attached. But against the XF-150A, the 150A can turn with it, and out accelerate it.
  16. So I did a quick dogfight vs my newest experimental fighter... XF-150A F-32 vs XF-150A Initial climb to alt. First AIM-120C impact. Second AIM-120C impact Jeb showing off 15.7G sustained turn. The fight vs my XF-149B is a bit more challanging... Did the fight 5 times and the F-32 wins 3 out of 5. If I could make a couple of suggestions for the F-32 to help it a bit. Your take off speed is WAY fast, this is because of landing gear placement. Try moving the main gear closer to the CoM. This will give you a better rotation point. Also I would set an action key for your flaps, currently there isnt one set to increase or decrease deflection. - - - Updated - - - Here are the changes that I made to the F-32 to improve its overall look and performance. The main gear were moved forwards and I replaced that horrible looking pylon and gear setup with a longer landing gear. Unfortunately due to the designs short main gear it has a very limited AoA for take-off and landing, of about 9deg. Which leads to a high take off speed and a high landing speed. Take off speed. Overall it is a much cleaner looking craft this way, and looks like a killer bird! Hanger shot for you to go off of. - - - Updated - - - Coming soon.... XF-150A Arrow
  17. So messing around with the basic jet, and mach 2 seems like an impossible number to reach. I am really interested to see anyone pull that off.
  18. I will see about making one.... It maybe BAD...I dont use stock well.
  19. What I dont understand is why doesnt he make a fighter better than mine. Someone else already has, so its not that hard. Oh and why is my craft seperate from the other two? It uses BDarmory.
  20. Thank you for that ruling. I am going to make a second craft anyway when I get time. Trying to prove something to a non-factor, has taken a fair bit of my time today that I was going to dedicate towards another craft. Seeing as the only person who is arguing with me doesn't have a craft in the challenge and is only here to pick a fight, I just figured it best to move on.
  21. I am done talking with you, adding you to ignore and moving on with my life. Goodbye.
  22. ok... Now that I have that answer. Here for you. And the score was wrong. I dont know where I got 137 from. It should be 48. And to continue to hammer the point home... 40min into the flight and I STILL am not out of the DT fuel. EDIT again At 1hour into the flight without the forward tank filled And I still didn't have the bay tanks filled, which can be placed in place of the missiles in the weapons bay. 2:13min without 90L of fuel in one tank. At a speed of Mach 1.031 Any more questions?
  23. Are you just being a male genitalia member or did I wrong you in some way? If you really want I will redo the test and post a pic of it just to make you happy, even though you are a non-factor in this challenge.
