Realistic Solar System Crafts - MEGATHREAD
Hodo replied to Captain_Party's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Nathan I have to ask what are you using for the nose on some of these craft? -
[0.25] Engine Ignitor (Workaround for some bugs V3.4.1: Aug.31)
Hodo replied to HoneyFox's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Out of no where I lost all of my engine ignitors and my real fuels options for most of my engines. Not sure what did it haven't added or changed a mod since I started using the RSS realism overhaul. -
FAR doesn't change the thickness of the atmosphere, it changes how the atmosphere interacts with craft and their parts.

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
Hodo replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I see one problem, you are low, real low. 2.65km alt is less than 10kft. Are you using AJE+FAR and the RSS?- 14,073 replies

One plugin group is what you are looking for. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/59207-0-23-Realism-Overhaul-ROv3-Modlist-for-RSS-1-10-14

My last attempt to land on Eve was with a probe, using RT2+DRE+FAR. After the 1000 attempts to program the probe autopilot correctly I found the best decent profile is a VERY shallow one. Get your AP down to around 110km orbit, then bring your PE down to 60-70km orbit. This will be a VERY shallow re-entry profile, but you will slow down a GREAT deal before you get to the lower atmosphere where it gets really thick. As soon as you get below the fireball stage deploy a drogue chute to slow down for main chute.

Realistic Solar System Crafts - MEGATHREAD
Hodo replied to Captain_Party's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I haven't made a skylon yet, but I have made two working SSTO space plane aircraft in RSS, and I am working on more currently. -
Post your planes of any type here! [.23]
Hodo replied to burnoutforzai's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
No need to thank me, thank that one prick who didn't do that to me, and forced me to be "that guy". They know who they are. -
It is definitely possible to make a SSTO space plane in the RSS, great work on that SSTO, here is the two I came up with a week ago without interstellar. X-4 And X-6 which can haul around 5 tons to orbit.

Yeah this is exactly what I added to the cfg file. PQSCity { KEYname = IslandAirfield Parent sphere: Kerbin order = 100 reorientToSphere = True repositionRadial = 186253.6, -16135.7, -570176.8 repositionRadiusOffset = 40 repositionToSphere = True repositionToSphereSurface = True lodvisibleRangeMult = 6 }} It is pretty much what you had supplied.

While those are awesome planes but this thread is dedicated to stock aircraft. I hate being "that guy" but I had to beat someone else to it because they would report your post and cry to a moderator about it from now till the Mars One mission launch date. -
Anything on bringing the Island base above ground?

Realistic Solar System Crafts - MEGATHREAD
Hodo replied to Captain_Party's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I have to ask, did you slow down before your re-entry into Kerbin or did you just fly from Duna to Kerbin and splashdown? If so how did your heat shield survive that? -

He had it linked wrong at first. -

Don't think you can post pictures from your cloud. -
Tried that NathanKell and no dice. It didn't work, the island airfield is still very much under ground. This is what I have in the Real Solar System cfg file. PQSCity { KEYname = IslandAirfield Parent sphere: Kerbin order = 100 reorientToSphere = True repositionRadial = 186253.6, -16135.7, -570176.8 repositionRadiusOffset = 40 repositionToSphere = True repositionToSphereSurface = True lodvisibleRangeMult = 6 }}

/r/KerbalSpaceProgram 's Final Challenge; My Payload
Hodo replied to LexiSilva's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I always disliked those challenges, but I never liked reddit. Doesn't help I am not a fan of the stock KSP aerodynamic model and refuse to play the game with it. -
I like that one... one minor correction in your discription though. In one picture you are at 69.8km altitude and said you are in the atmosphere, actually you are still 700m above the stock KSP atmosphere, which is ends at 69.1km. But that is an outstanding little craft there. And I highly suggest you get Deadly Re-Entry Continued by Nathan Kell. 30+G turns will go away fast, your craft may survive but the Kerbal will not.

Help with MechJeb interplanetary transfers
Hodo replied to Nemesis1-1's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I can't say I have ever used MJ for interplanetary transfers. Always found it easier to manually do it. -
[1.10.0] Final Frontier - kerbal individual merits 1.10.0-3485
Hodo replied to Nereid's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I grew up with the USAF, and served in the US Army and am also all to aware of the US Rank structure. The US Airforce (USAF) doesn't share the same ranks as the US Army for enlisted, only the officer ranks are shared to an extent. The US Army has Warrent Officer (WO) ranks but the USAF no longer has those. But it is KSP and you could use any rank structure you really wanted. -
Woopert's RSS Replicas - SLS Blocks I and II, Saturn V
Hodo replied to Woopert's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I use the RSS mod with all the mods listed in my sig no lag or really crashes. But I also have the texture reduction plugin, and it helps a lot! Max I hit is about 2.95gb of RAM. -
I don't see the picture so I really can't give you a suggestion, and I don't run a stock sized or aerodynamic model KSP anymore so me downloading it and testing it won't help you much unless you are looking to build a SSTO that works on the real sized Kerbin with FAR+DRE. But when I get home I will download it and take a look at it in my SPH and see if I see anything glaringly wrong.

Realistic Solar System Crafts - MEGATHREAD
Hodo replied to Captain_Party's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
And because what space program wouldn't be complete without a heavy lift aircraft. Here is my C-1... granted it is very close to the C-17 Globemaster. Yes it has a LOT of engines.... But it can lift over 120 tons!
