Tell me you got her some awesome Christmas gifts. My wife would divorce me if I'd even think about buying a 43" screen solely for KSP, let alone think about how to mount it onto my homemade simulator!

Shape Shifting Wing. NASA plane.
Kerbart replied to Arugela's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Exactly my thoughts... unless they're of the telescopic type and actually change area, simply changing the geometry will do diddly squat (at least for stock and that's what one would expect Squad to develop for). Then again, aligning the development pipeline with what we already have and what most of the forum is asking for does not seem to be Squad strongest quality. Based on experience I'd say that we will have Mk IV plane parts before the rocket engines are overhauled. -
The posts that haven't been deleted, you mean. The only moment it becomes a problem is when people are telling me that “the only proper way” to play the game is stock. Scratch that. It’s not a problem; I simply ignore them. Can’t we dedicate our energy to more important things? Like people using "straight quotes" instead of proper “curly quotes” instead?

Detail is rarely an issue with Wikipedia. Accuracy, yes, that's always questionable. But there's usually plenty of detail.

It was explained in the movie that while a short voice message would get through, the amount of data required for the plans to transmit would not make it through the field.

You should add Don't try this at home... or at Laythe

I'm not a console player but it can only benefit the KSP community if everyone who bought the game can actually enjoy it. Googling Blitworks seems to reveal nothing but positive articles, they interact with their community (reddit, interviews with magazine) and have a good amount of conversions under their belt. None of that will guarantee a spotless conversion but right now we're at least not thinking "why these guys" or "I hope I'm wrong about this, but..."

Ok, good point... but the OP did a less-than-stellar job in argumenting his position. A lot of mods are abandoned. Well, yes. The game is three years older. Of course there are more abandoned mods because abandoned mods rarely ever get un-abandoned, so the collection of them continues to grow over time. But: there are also more mods alive. More than in 2013, I dare say Lack of updates between 1.0 and 1.1. Ironically, 1.0 was the version that saw the most (3rd digit) updates of any version of KSP. Devnotes become boring. Aside from the extremely subjective nature of that assessment, did we even have weekly devnotes back in 2013? I'm not saying we didn't but I cannot really remember. And if I can't remember, how exciting were those devnotes back then? Based on a solid definition (unreasonably perhaps, but solid) one can come up with good argumentation that development seems to have hit a dead end right now. I just don't see that argumentation surface in the post.

Year 312-chapter 17-Do Not Go Quiet
Kerbart replied to The solid fuel chemist's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I took the liberty of reformatting your first episode. Doesn't that look more inviting to read already? Get out of your bunk. Get dressed. Climb the ladder through the hub to the kitchen. Call dibs on the next cup of koffee. Say good morning. Report to Gene. The feeling in the air of the Zephyr Kerman was always a little tense on a landing day. The rookies were always surprised by the lack of constant work to do and the veterans looking as if this was just another day on the job. But today was different for the veterans. Jeb took a quick look around and found the same expression on both Bill and Bobs faces. A grimace with just a hint of a smile, no doubt caused by the fact that they were completing the kerbaled exploration of the solar system today. But when he got to Val, he found that she was already looking at him. They both smiled, and Jeb felt the little square container in his pocket press against his leg. He remembered being caught by Gene when he shoved it in his duffel bag on launch day. That sure had been a interesting conversation. His thoughts were disturbed when the centrifuge spun around to face Eeloo. Eeloo! The rock that would launch Jeb and the other orange suits into kerbal history. The first kerbals to set foot on every celestial body in the system. Joining them where rookies Mayzee and Anzer kerman. The message came from the KSC, they were go to start pre-landing procedures. The rookies were exited by this and leaped to the lander, only to find the assigned checklists containing "make sure all of this importand stuff is on" The rest of the crew headed to the lander except for Bob, who headed back to the lab to transmit the last points of science. Suddenly, The kerbs at the lander heard Bob scream in terror. "OH KRAP OH CRAP OH KRAP OH KRAP!" The entire crew rushed to the lab to see what was wrong. Bob was frozen, his eyes fixed on the window in front of him. He was staring at Eeloo, and at first Jeb couldn't make out what was so scary. but then he started to make out edges. Edges of gaint chunks of ice, and no doubt a shotgun blast of tiny ones, the results of a cryovolcanic event that would change Eeloo's surface forever. Headed strait for them. "EVA SUITS! NOW!" Jeb cried. -
Year 312-chapter 17-Do Not Go Quiet

I'm not saying you should be modelling or shopping. You can build things in KSP that are not what they seem to be. To show a scene in a room you don't need to build a house. Two panels at a 90° angle are enough to suggest the corner of a room. Those kind of things. Making an asteroid look big is a matter of perspective. And if you're having a scene on the surface of that asteroid... Who can tell it's really Bop. Or Dres? Scene 1: A spaceship flying over Kerbin Scene 2: Said spaceship approaching an asteroid. It's impossible to tell distance in space in real life, let alone in KSP Scene 3: The spaceship landing on the surface. At this point, why would the viewer assume it's not the asteroid—even when it isn't? Sidenote: if you get the chance to take a workshop on movie making, take it. Movies are the ultimate deception and there are so many Jedi mind tricks you can learn about tricking your audience into seeing something else than what they are really seeing. -
You're aware that there were five bug releases in 1.0? 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.3, 1.0.4 and 1.0.5? Those were of course bug fixes so they don't change anything big, but the game was definitely worked on. Some might even argue that it's a good thing that those fixes were not so extensive that they didn't break anything, because big updates tend to break mods, and so people are unhappy about that. But for you, it means that the game is "alive" I guess. Wait, what? Didn't you just complain that the lack of "big changes" meant the game was dead? And now a big update (naturally meaning mods need updating) is a bad thing? I recommend googling the words "having cake" and "eating it." By the way, between 0.23 and 1.0 there was plenty of mod breakage. My oh my. You should talk to Perl programmers. This forum is up and running. And 1.2.2 got just released, this week. We can't have ongoing maintenance that fixes things, because "alive" is only "alive" when we have big, game changing updates. But we can't have big, game changing updates either because they'd break mods and apparently that means the game is dead too. So... what is it?

Right now we can't land on Mars and yet my wife is watching this "Mission to Mars" thing on Nat Geo. Just because it ain't real doesn't mean you can't make pictures of it. Even in KSP! -
Year 312-chapter 17-Do Not Go Quiet

There's a lot of stories out there. You need to make yours stand out to make sure it gets read. Large swats of continuous text do not look particularly appetizing. So, how to visually improve your story (without criticizing the content): Images. People love images. And it's not like they're hard to make! Short sentences. They read easier. For every comma you type, ask yourself: “could this be a period instead?” Paragraphs. Split your large text up in several bite-sized pieces. Most restaurants serve courses, not the entire meal in one go. These are actually good skills to pick up for anywhere in life, not just here on the forum. If you work in an office environment, being right is not even half the battle—getting right is the real challenge. Engineers are generally furious that reports and memos are judged on how they look, not on what they contain. But the reality is that you can only convince people of something if they start reading what you wrote in the first place. -
In all fairness, it took me about two minutes of searching to figure out what had changed, and why, but that doesn't change that you're right, simply stating “One of the parts contained a word that turns out to be a derogatory vulgar term in a language foreign to us but familiar to thousands of our customers. As we'l like to see KSP to be Family-Friendly, we have removed that word” would be enough. You don't have to state what part (that'd be similar to spelling the word out, pretty much). On the other hand saying may be an offensive word when it downright is an offensive word would be a bit too sensitive.

I'm pretty sure the ships have to be landed. Someone passing over in orbit at a 2 km altitude will not get flag credits to the best of my knowledge (they preemptively closed that loophole before some youtuber was going to try it out, I think).

I'm not commenting on how you run your program, but don't you think there's a reason they don't come back? -
[1.12.X] Kerbal Planetary Base Systems v1.6.15 [28. April 2022]
Kerbart replied to Nils277's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I figured you were going to wait until 1.2.2... So last Friday I shut down KSP, switched the Function Filter Category flag in the config file, built a launch craft, saved it, switched the Function Filter Category flag again and enjoyed my greenhouse. You must have read my mind! Thank you very much for fixing this though! -

[1.12.X] Kerbal Planetary Base Systems v1.6.15 [28. April 2022]
Kerbart replied to Nils277's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Hello @Nils277, I just noticed... when setting separateFunctionFilter = True in the KPBS_config.cfg file, the Greenhouse goes missing. It's there in other filter modes (looking in the relevant categories of course) but not in the "Surface Structures" (or whatever you called that category ) custom category associated with separateFunctionFilter = True. Everything else seems to be there, though. I made sure to have the latest version installed When using a different setting in the config file, the Greenhouse will show up I suspect it's just a typo regarding the category the greenhouse gets assigned to, but I am clueless on how to check/confirm that. -
If you have MS Word you could use that to save thevfile as a PDF. There's also free software called "CutePDF" for windows that pretends to be a printer driver. "Print" it to there and it will be saved as a PDF file. For Linux there's similar software called Ghostscript, I think.
