Colbert has a [honorary] doctorate in fine art so it can't be all bad. Really, it depends on what you want to do and what science you are interested in. From my [limited] experience in chemistry, much of it seems to be understanding the concepts and plugging in numbers. Once you figure out what stoichiometry actually means in reality, you might be able to logic out what variable goes where, then plug in the numbers. Same with gravimetric analysis, etc. Otherwise it appears that formulas can suffice for the rest of the math, and so long as you get a good understanding of concepts you might be fine. This is coming from one with only 25% of AP Chem done as of now, so take this advice with a grain of salt. I don't know what else Chemistry will entail, perhaps somebody else can inform us if it is significantly different than the basics I mentioned. In short: If you have decent logic, memory and critical thinking skills, Chemistry shouldn't be too hard. You might able to just mix sh!# up and observe it to advance science for a while, but don't trust me.

I agree. It is a shame that all mentions of 'outlandish' tech is immediately rejected as infeasible, if sometimes not by the scientific community but somewhat scientifically literate 'civilians'*. For example, on another forum I frequent, after SkunkWorks announced they were developing a fusion reactor, about half of the 100 posts were something along the lines of "fusion has been a decade/20/50 years away for x years". The view that some technology is impossible, and many people's tendency to ignore potential discoveries, is an unfortunate development**. It should at least be expected that those dissing such claims at lease look into the research before drawing conclusions. *I couldn't think of a better term. Non-scientist. **Wow. I sound so self-righteous for a 'civilian'

It is official. My brother is no longer allowed to use this computer. I don't care if it is 'his', I have spent too many hours trying to fix it. So many viruses removed. Here is a list of browser redirects I can't remove on Chrome, even with the help of Google. Just now I used Adwcleaner, Malwarebytes, JRT, HitmanPro and my actual anti-virus Sophos to no avail. -snip- I also get redirected to yhs4.us, a fake yahoo search, half the time I use the chrome omnibar, and samsbox.com is a pop-up thing that appears in the corner of my Chrome advertising crap. The worst part is, I have adblock. Pls help. This is too much.

Because you have listed advantages of technology without addressing issues realized years ago. You claim enlightenment, yet give no indication that this is so, you only state 'trust me, my idea works'. You start the thread with no premise but that you have an idea, and you expect us to reply with anything other than debate about the flaws in the feasible tech? There isn't really anything else to talk about, it is unlikely that you would confirm any speculation on what exactly you have planned. This is a more feasible field than cold fusion, but with no advanced education, experience or even reasons for us to believe you when you say you have figured this out, we can't help but be dismal about the current, understood flaws. This isn't meant to be rude, I am just confused what you expected this thread to be like. Anyways, it will be years before you are ready to patent whatever technology you have in mind (1-4 years of high school, at least 4 years of college, almost certainly more). If you could figure out a practical solution, other, more professional bodies will likely as well in the time frame. You would be better off submitting your idea to a professor in a college you want to go to, or a scientist/engineer in this field, and hope they compensate you, put in a good word for you, or credit you.
