I've directly attached things to engines without decouplers more than once. My solution was to sacrifice the attached part by firing up the engine full throttle till the attached part overheats and explodes. Sucks because I lose a part and waste fuel, but I try really hard to not quickload if I can get away with it.

[1.0.5] Atomic Age - Nuclear Propulsion - Red Hot Radiators
xtoro replied to Porkjet's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Just wanted to say that I absolutely love this mod and use the engines often! Good work! -
Rethinking the nuke engine, where can we take it from here?
xtoro replied to Colonel_Panic's topic in KSP1 Discussion
For those who love the nukes, I use and highly recommend Atomic Age . It's a nice mod that adds 3 different sized nukes to the game which prevents me from having to mount multiple nukes to larger ships and allows smaller ships and probes to have a little nuke engine. It's also well balanced with the stock nuke. -
PSA shouldn't be thrown around by just anybody.... And I don't see what the big deal is. As long as the reader knows what the writer is talking about then who cares?

Efficient Tylo landing?
xtoro replied to waterlubber's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Thanks man, I like hearing from fans of it It's being retooled to 1.x and is a lot more work than I initially thought. Another Jool 5-only mission is floating in my head as well for after Avalon. Back on topic though, I never had much luck with suicide burns for Tylo and found the method that me and cybersol are talking about works great for me. For some reason I use more fuel trying to suicide burn than to do a more controlled descent. I actually did it that way for the Avalon mission and it turned out quite graceful. -
Efficient Tylo landing?
xtoro replied to waterlubber's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I start burning straight up to kill off my vertical fall and once it's under control I tilt back slowly to bleed off my horizontal speed. If I start dropping too fast again I point back upwards. Just a bit of back and forth looking for the sweet spot till I land. -
Big Rover Wheels Super-Buggy Glitchatrons?
xtoro replied to BlueCanary's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Two Three things. One, use struts and attach to the tops of the wheels. Two, using big and small wheels together cause problems because they run at different speeds, so try disabling the motors for the big rear wheels if you're going to tow it around like a trailer. Or, disable the wheels for the little truck thing so that it just steers, and have the big wheels push. EDIT: Three, I can't tell what the truck thing and the trailer are attached with, but if it's something rigid, you're gonna have problems anyways because the big wheels don't steer. They kinda work like tank tracks, so if you try to turn left for example, the right wheels will turn faster than the left wheels. So having something that's towing the part with the big wheels is going to break them when you try to pull them sideways. -
Setup Action Groups In Flight?
xtoro replied to ChrisD's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
There's a mod that lets you do something like this, and not sure if it's the same one but also lets you have more than 10 action groups. I forget what it's called. -
I realize there is already a suggestion here for something like this, however, since necroposting is frowned upon, I'm starting a new thread. I would like fuel lines to have actions groups to toggle the flow on or off, and maybe even reverse the flow. Any chance of this happening? Maybe a mod request would be a better route to take? This would come in handy in a few designs of mine for reusable crafts.

Curious why the OP cares about this. It's directly related to the mods you have...

Self-refuelling interplanetary ship - possible?
xtoro replied to Boots's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Can you post a pic? I'm really interested in how you could have landed and orbited again without losing stages along the way, mainly Eve and Tylo. Eve and Tylo are the reasons I have 3 landers on the Avalon. -
Self-refuelling interplanetary ship - possible?
xtoro replied to Boots's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
While that can work in the configuration you have, it doesn't work so well with an in-line setup that's very front-heavy like my ship, The Avalon. It's 740 tons and 657 parts. My mining/refining ship is tugged behind it. -
Self-refuelling interplanetary ship - possible?
xtoro replied to Boots's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It's not only a matter of Kraken attacks but also long parts bending, and when you have a long burn and things start wobbling it gets worse and worse... -
Self-refuelling interplanetary ship - possible?
xtoro replied to Boots's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I vouch for KJR as being essential for large ships, also, if you have many docking ports, Quantum Struts cleverly placed is also essential. -
Self-refuelling interplanetary ship - possible?
xtoro replied to Boots's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Check my signature. It's quite overkill because it's designed to tour the entire system but it is self refuelling. It's also heavily nodded but you can do something similar with stock and using the stock ore drill and refinery. All details of the Avalon are on the first page including all of its parts. So yes, it's definitely do able. EDIT: LOL nevermind, I see you were already using my ship as an example of what you want to do -
I have no asteroids there and i have a probe there. Does it have to be a manned ship? Sandbox by the way...

Doesn't matter when it has good rum in it, which is the only time I drink Coke or Pepsi...

How Close are YOU to Your Next Reputation Rank?
xtoro replied to michaelsteele3's topic in Kerbal Network
I have no idea how the point system works, but if I understand it correctly I should have 4 bars now, yet there's only 3? Or do you have to PASS the mark? Like have 201 instead of 200? -
Worsening KSP performance.
xtoro replied to Majorjim!'s topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
While fairing do cause lag, there's still a performance drop from .90 to 1.0 even without fairings... -
Worsening KSP performance.
xtoro replied to Majorjim!'s topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Correct, and it doesn't matter is you have 1 core or 500 cores, the physics is single threaded and only runs on one. So single core performance is the key. -
I hope you realize that everyone knows what you mean, and some of us are just having fun with the question so don't be offended. Also, I think there's a couple other posts around here you could read to see how people end their posts

Examining The Kerbol System as if it were a real solar system
xtoro replied to Darkday560's topic in KSP1 Discussion
While this is interesting to read, I hope the OP realizes that it's meant to be playable, not realistic. Squad has said KSP is a game first and a simulator second. While Laythe may be frozen IRL, I'm glad it has water because it makes the moon more interesting. -
I usually end my post with some kind of punctuation, normally a period, but occasionally a question mark. And if I'm feeling especially chipper, an exclamation mark! But I've been thinking I should probably change things up now and then and veer away from the usual punctuation just to shock people. % &
