Yes, in infrared it would be 100% impossible to avoid. There is literally zero evidence to back this idea up.

Unintentional signals like our TV and radio - never. After approximately one lightyear they are so weak that it's physically impossible to distinguish them from the background EM noise. Contrary to the popular myth, someone out there is certainly not watching our stupid shows and listening to songs. Powerful directional signals, they can be received, but they are fairly rare.

Yes, that was a test of a nuclear power plant containment wall which surrounds all modern power plants. Those things are impossible to penetrate using any planes as missiles.

Demonstration of Acceleration in the ISS During a Reboost
lajoswinkler replied to Mazon Del's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Actually that does happen and it's called microgravity. One of the reasons there's lots of velcro around. -
Which astronomers and based on what?

Yes, you just say "my rules for handling this mod are: yadda yadda yadda". Search for Creative Commons examples and pick up one.

[1.12.x] Heat Control - More radiators! (August 18, 2024)
lajoswinkler replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Are we sure KSP 1.1 will break a lot of mods? What are the predicted issues? Yeah, I'd also like it to work in v1.0.4 because that's the last significant mod I use that still isn't updated. -
NASA developing a new, eco-friendly propellant
lajoswinkler replied to Frida Space's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I'd call it environmentally friendlier (maybe!), not eco-anything because it has nothing to do with counting fishes in a lake and other stuff ecology is dealing with. It will probably require heavier engines. I can't say if there will be net benefit. It's too complex to figure out at this point and with so little data. -
Olimp 2 rover on the tallest peak of Duna. Never been there. Surface pressure is 7.038 kPa.

Did you see them apparently separate, and then come close again?

How do clouds form on waterless planets?
lajoswinkler replied to Sharkman Briton's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Yeah, Venus lost most of its water when it combined with sulfur oxides to form sulfuric acid. A great deal of water was photolyzed and radiolyzed by the Sun into ions that got blown away into space. A cloud is simply a bunch of condensed (liquid or solid) dispersed matter in a noncondensed (gas) medium. In terms of colloidal chemistry, a cloud is either smoke or mist. I'm not sure if a cloud is neccessarily a colloid. Colloids are relatively stable systems and if we have a dust cloud, that's unstable and settles down; it's called a suspension. Suspensions are heterogeneous mixtures, solutions are homogenous mixtures. Colloids are in between. -
From the first minute I've heard about Mars One, I had zero confidence in it and was mocking it. It's a ridiculous, sensationalist, stupid claim to the point of possible scam. It's as if a typical journalist of today made the mission in their head. The whole idea is a giant mountain of human excrement. It's not even funny and I'm not sure why the hell are people debating it. It's pointless, absurd.

[1.12.x] DeepFreeze (v0.31.0) 12th Sep 2021
lajoswinkler replied to JPLRepo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Instead of four parts, why not three? 1, 4, 8 (or 10) Kerbals. Problem is pretty much solved and you reduce the part count. -
[1.12.x] DeepFreeze (v0.31.0) 12th Sep 2021
lajoswinkler replied to JPLRepo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm ok with that, but there's one problem. When you return to Kerbin from an interplanetary voyage, and the ship is about to reentry the atmosphere, what will happen to the fourth Kerbal? The only safe place is the capsule, and it only takes three Kerbals. Rotating is ok as roleplaying and can be done with a 4-Kerbal capsule. Reentry can't be done with a 3-Kerbal one. -
Visited The Face on Duna for the first time. Somehow I never did it. Dirine Kerman went alone. TAC (no recycling) + DeepFreeze, chemical propulsion. Did a manual precision landing, ended up 10 km away from it, coming shallow and shedding speed through the thin atmosphere. Even saw the floating boulder of Duna.

[1.12.x] DeepFreeze (v0.31.0) 12th Sep 2021
lajoswinkler replied to JPLRepo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
It would be better if the middle part holds 4 Kerbals, so that Jebediah, Valentina, Bill and Bob can fit inside. Hopefully someday, Mk1-2 pod will hold four of them, too. -

The fix works. Thank you. -
[1.12.x] DeepFreeze (v0.31.0) 12th Sep 2021
lajoswinkler replied to JPLRepo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
No OpenGL, yeah. Ok, so that's two of us. I'll try the new version ASAP. -
[1.12.x] DeepFreeze (v0.31.0) 12th Sep 2021
lajoswinkler replied to JPLRepo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I've tried without Distant Object. Doesn't work. Then I verified all KSP files (because I've been pruning unneeded files), but it still shows the black surface. I'm running KSP on Windows 7 and never had any problem like this. Oh well... maybe it will go away as the mods get updated. I'm not into digging into this. -
[1.12.x] DeepFreeze (v0.31.0) 12th Sep 2021
lajoswinkler replied to JPLRepo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I have that file in both those folders. I haven't altered it in any way. My mods. -
[1.12.x] DeepFreeze (v0.31.0) 12th Sep 2021
lajoswinkler replied to JPLRepo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I have the latest versions of DFC and RPM, from kerbalstuff.com. -
[1.12.x] DeepFreeze (v0.31.0) 12th Sep 2021
lajoswinkler replied to JPLRepo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
When viewing the smallest pod, the front has a black side. I can see the doors moving when I look through the pod, but otherwise not. -

Awesome work! If I could, I'd give you a whole bar of rep!
