  1. I'm in the planning stages of this mini YouTube series. I hope you stay tuned and watch! Just like I mentioned in the video, I have inspiration from wooks and his . Watch his stuff too if you haven't!But on the side of me, here's the trailer. I will be starting as soon as .24 comes out and the series will probably take 3-4 videos to complete and 3-4* refueling trips if nothing goes wrong. I will hopefully be completing this challenge with one boat but that isn't too likely and just like wooks series, it will be insta-death. *don't quote that Later!
  2. LOL See you around the forums xD
  3. Very pretty. I quite like that design actually. Very sleek. Rep to to!
  4. Because Eve has a thicker atmosphere planes have WAY more lift so a SAS glider could be more efficient closer to the surface on Eve (don't quote me on that). The real challenge is controlling the thing but I'm not sure how to easily fix that. Helicopters have a very low flight ceiling because as the atmosphere thins the propellers become pretty useless pretty quickly. In reaching orbit that has some good effect because as the atmosphere thins the drag decreases which obviously improves things. If enough liquid fuel is put on the gliders you might be able to lift it to orbit, but we're probably talking about a WhackJob level of ship size. That's my jot.
  5. We need a brave YouTuber and a camera crew out here stat. That would make SUCH an awesome plot line.
  6. I could but I think 6 legs would be SSTO worthy and take away from this pint sized monster. And six legs is a bit more scary to look at. I could also make the challenge more focused on assembling rather than doing stuff with it. Part count is at 211 currently and adding on another 3 legs would bring it to 350-400 ish I think. I'll bump and update a bit after .24 comes out and I might do six sides than. I'll message you guys .
  7. Yeah I posted it in challenges yesterday at 11:57 pm... lol. ALMOST today! Yesterday was pretty entertaining on the forum side. I doubt I'll get any group of substantial quantity. I'll be doing the challenge myself though!
  8. NEW CHALLENGE If anyone here is still willing to compete for a prize, WhackChallenge 1 is up. Arkingthaad ULTRA-lite | WhackChallenge 1
  9. I posted it HERE. It isn't SSTO worthy and you still have to assemble it meaning you'll need to build some form of orbital boost to get it to space. AND use claws to refuel to go anywhere. Probably multiple to land on the moon. It's tough. Try it! And everyone else too if you think you're kerbal enough. I'd consider "yesterday" as a successful day. Night all .
  10. For those of you who have been keeping tabs on the Kerbin Cup, WhackJob came up with the final challenge. The Arkingthaad lite. A true kerbal monstrosity. For all of you who didn't get to compete, this will be the first* installment in an Unofficial Kerbin Cup with SOLO TEAMS rather than a 4 person block. *first being if there are enough contestants Here's the original challenge from WhackJob: Current (Whackjob) Challenge Friends, Countrymen, Kerbishtanis! After learning that I would not be able to compete in the Kerbal Cup as a solo clown act, I was initially disappointed. Our good mutual friend, Rowsdower, gave me a wonderful opportunity to still have a hand in this fun event. Instead of playing the role of the plucky hero, I instead will get the opportunity to play the role of irritating mini-boss. This is level three. The Konami code does nothing. Initially I had a much more thorough challenge planned out to subject you to. There were time constraints, however. I only had so long to build, and you have but one week to complete it. If there's nothing else that you learn in KSP, you learn to compromise. So I took my bag of tricks and managed to shake this challenge out. I have built another Arkingthaad Tower Lander. I used some new parts. It is HERE for your use. Your challenge is to take it to orbit (I tested it myself, it is SSTO compliant, but will need refueling before going elsewhere). Once in orbit, go on a sightseeing tour. Land in interesting places, take pictures and create a photo album with a narrative. Once done with your tour, return and land at the Kerbal Space Center via powered landing, since Whack don't do chutes. The Tower Lander is equipped with a fully functional custom landing leg of my usual design which is capable of supporting the entire rocket plus full fuel load in Kerbin gravity. Feel free to add on to the ship if you should prefer to. Oh, and lest I forget... some assembly will be required. *evil cackle* *mini-boss music begins* Good luck, everybody! No hyperedit, please. The Arkingthaad ULTRA-lite This challenge is not for the faint of heart. It is a challenge in any measure. Rules: Create an image album (or video) of what you've done with the Arkingthaad ULTRA-lite. No completion date. Assemble it, launch it, do what you want with it, and perform a hard landing back at KSC. Note that this is NOT SSTO worthy and it will need a boost of some sort to orbit. Assembly can be in orbit, or on the ground and ANY mods are usable other than hacks. You will need to post pictures of assembling, launching, refueling, and any landings you complete as a minimum. "some assembly will be required." Get it HERE(Curse*) *Main image is stretched oddly Or get it HERE(Dropbox). Have at it.
  11. I posted how I launched one leg but it crashed after that and I didn't continue. Idk if you've seen it yet or not but definitely on the ill side as it didn't reach a full orbit before floaty problems. It's on a few pages back. Anyways if any of you want to try this challenge "ULTRA-mini" scale I'm posting a challenge. I'll quote your rule WhackJob and if you could somehow endorse it that might help get more players. Everyone who did not get to participate in the cup but wants to, THIS is a challenge for you.
  12. Does WhackJob want a giganto-craft brake ? Well, It's not that small though I could do that too/instead (and call it like the micro-lite) . It's half the size about, not like mini. I mainly focused on having as few docking ports as possible. Here's a few pics of it now: For a tiny one I'd probably use the junior docking ports and the 1.25 meter parts so I could still have docking ports that match the size scale . So go tiny instead? It was pretty trivial to build the half sized one. I could make an accurate miniature.
  13. Me too. Also I'm planning on starting a "Arkingthaad ULTRA-lite" challenge and have it set just like this one with a photo gallery though with a smaller ship. Who all would participate here and would you endorse me WhackJob?
  14. Just saying, you ALL over complicated the leg launchings. I used a rover with 6 SRB's and some SAS, and a claw to lift one end and when it was about 45 degrees up I fired the main leg engines and used it's fuel to get it into orbit. It broke when I timed warp due to the claw-floaty glitch but it worked VERY well until that point. I'll see if I can find the video of it. EDIT: Skip to 2:42. SRB's to lift the end and an extra fuel tank to mostly compensate for the weight of the leg. And sorry for low kwality. Lag called for it . Super fun while it lasted!
