SpaceX Jason-3 Mission & Live Stream - With info. about landing
Endersmens replied to a topic in Science & Spaceflight
Technically they still landed just fine, I'd call it a successful landing. It just failed the "maintain stability for ten seconds" part of the contract. But seriously, it touchdowned with no velocity and stood fine till the leg finally collapsed. (is touchdowned a word? ) -
Hello everybody! I have a small question about docking controls in real life. So, I recently bought a new joystick. A Logitech Extreme3D Pro. I was thinking about selling my old microsoft joystick, but then I realized: I can have legit docking controls now, with one joystick in each hand. I know one stick is for rotation, and one is for translation, however I have no idea which side does what. Is left rotation and right translation? Also, I just realized I could only do forward/back and left/right with translation, wouldn't have an axis for height.... hmm. Anyone know how I could figure out how to set up two joysticks to act as docking controls? One is only two axis, with throttle and buttons, and the other is three axis, also with buttons and throttle, and a 8 direction joystick hat. Looking forward to answers and any help offered. I really hope this works out so I can have precise and easy docking!

@monstah, We've never been on more than 1 acre, so the move to a 5 acre plot will be nice. It's not huge here, it's more like large-ish for the area. Some people have 20-50, some people have .5 like us.

Cell phone is crazy expensive. Like, $150/mo for 20GB at like 5Mbps. We will have cable at the new place though! No, it's two mobile home halves stuck together.
-
IT's bad because we have no internet access! All we have right now is satellite. :/

You just type the @ symbol and follow it with the person's name, it will pop up with a possible list of members, and you click the right one. It notifies them that you mentioned them too!- 929 replies

$800 on the nose. However, it's a farm house. On a farm. In the middle of nowhere. In Indiana. And all we rent is the house and small yard.
-
That's totally different. What I meant by modular house is one step above a mobile home. It's two halves that are brought on trailers and they put them together on a foundation. So it's more like this: But a little different, and set on a foundation. Not a whole lot of space, but it's enough.

I think it will be a fun little addition to the game in any form. It will give another purpose to things besides for science and funds.- 29 replies

Well, things are about to change in my life. Mostly for the better! On February 1st we will be moving in to our new house. We've rented a house for 9 years now, and have paid over 84k to our landlord, enough to buy the property and then some. We're moving to a small, modular house on 5 acres. It only has 3 bedrooms, but we will fit. My mother and sister will share the master bedroom, and my brother and I will take the two smaller rooms. Along with the residence change, there is another change. You may notice my dad wasn't mentioned above. My parents have finally committed to getting a divorce. My mom has been wanting one for years, but my dad was trying to keep everyone together. There have been many problems with him, and ultimately I'm sure it's a step in the right direction, moving separately than him. I still love him and sometimes he's cool, but there's just too much going on. I'm sure after all of this we all will still want to go over and visit him, so it's not like we're totally cutting him out of our lives. But the final change is one most of you will appreciate. I have lived my entire 18 years with limited internet. 10GB a month at most. (no cable access here) On top of that, for the past few years it's been satellite internet. Which means absolutely no online gaming at all. 10GB is easy enough to use in 2 days of online gaming, and 750ms ping makes it impossible. However, the new property has cable access. We will finally have unlimited, <50ms ping internet. I will, for the first time, be able to play online games! Woo! Well. Guess that's all for now. We've started packing already, and if anyone cares I'll probably be posting updates to this thread on how things are going.

oof! Nearly forgot about this thread! Will update as soon as possible.

I would find out what all this guy knows. If he doesn't know much, it could be a scam. If he knows too much, it could be a scam. It's a bit complicated to figure this stuff out safely. :/

A Joke Thread - Funny, Not So Funny, Just Jokes!
Endersmens replied to MightyDarkStar's topic in Forum Games!
Let's see...I've got some tucked away. I'll start off simple. Why did the bubblegum cross the road? It was stuck to the chicken's foot! My venturing crew planned a camping trip next week. It's going to be intense! Intents? Darn, that one was more of an audible joke... Ok. Long one. So there's this master. He has three apprentices. He tells the first one, "Go kill me a buck." Later, the apprentice comes back dragging a buck. The master asks, "How did you get the buck?" He replies, "I see tracks, I follow tracks, I see buck, I shoot buck, I bring buck back." "Good." The master says. To his second apprentice, he says "Go kill me a bull." Later, the apprentice comes back dragging a bull. The master asks again, "How did you get the bull?" He replies, "I see tracks, I follow tracks, I see bull, I shoot bull, I bring bull back." "Good, good." The master says. To his third apprentice he says, "Go kill me whatever you desire." Later, the apprentice limps back, covered in blood. "What happened??" His master exclaimed in surprise. "I see tracks. I follow tracks. I see train. I shoot train. Train didn't stop." I've had that one since I was like 7. It was funnier back then, but hey. It's whatever. -
I got that kit for Christmas myself, and it was an absolute joy to build. Except. There's this little cup piece on the bottom of the shuttle. There's a ball tip on the external tank. It's supposed to sit in the cup. Make sure you don't put the cup piece in backwards, like I did. It's one of the first pieces, and it sits between the two frame pieces. I had to take the entire thing apart to step two to flip it around. Well, for my Christmas, I got the set mentioned above, some very fuzzy pajamas, a lanyard and keyring coin for my new set of car keys (I got a handmedown minivan a while back from my mom) some driving gloves, a battery pack that you charge up and then use to charge other devices (like phones), a USB light, three light jackets, roller blades, a compact camera tripod, The Thing Explainer , a 3D printed stargazing Jebediah Kerman! (both of the last two mentioned gifts came from my awesome girlfriend Lydia, shoutout to her!), aftershave (which is weird), and finally, a gift I won't actually receive until mid to late january, a budget 4k action camera. Some of these came from close family, but I also have a pretty large extended family, I have 10 cousins, 4 sets of aunt/uncles, and that's only on my moms side. My dad's side is 1000 miles away, but my grandma on his side sends me a bit of money so I can get a gift for me. (the roller blades) Oh oh oh! I almost forgot! I also got the Boob Cube! Which brings my standard cube collection to: 1x1x1, 1x1x2, 2x2x2, 2x2x3, 3x3x3, 4x4x4, and 5x5x5.

Doubtful that I got all five correct, but I am sure about at least 2 of them, and have a good feeling about another 2. Totally guessed on the other. This contest seems a bit weird, since anyone can google every answer and get them all right.... Oh well. Good luck!
-
I think we want textures too at least though. Rigging would be nice but isn't a necessity.
-
@esinohio I'd be interested to know where that kerbal is. I have a feeling I know what one you're talking about though, and unfortunately that model isn't "spot on." It's close, but the kerbal face is very cartoony, and not really a resemblance of the real kerbal face. Is it the kerbal model used in this render by my good friend starwhip?
-
I am also interested in this. I know it's possible to rip it, but I would prefer to not have to do that.
-
"Alright, hit g!" "Nothing happened sir. What do I do?" "Arg! Gotta double tap g!!!"
-
WOAH. THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
-
Now that is a sight to see. Amazing!
-
That was amazing to watch. I just wish is had been a daytime landing.
-
It would be 9 minutes, but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible at night.
