  1. Only reason I'm getting back into KSP more often is my new PC; my old rig was starting to get on in the years and wasn't cutting it for me.
  2. One shot, one kill. While the Thalia-class fighter appears to be well-armored for a fighter/singleship, it has structural weaknesses that make it easy to OHK with munitions as simple as i-beam missiles.
  3. Thanks, I've just been pretty busy IRL.
  4. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim baaaack!
  5. I finally dug something I should've completed a long time ago out of the hangar... perhaps it'll be done soon.
  6. Don't forget: 1.0.4 aerodynamics are gonna try and mess with your ship (since most vacuum-only ships are about as aerodynamic as a brick), so take it nice n' slow with your launch if possible.
  7. That's a spot-on replica! I love the way you used the airbrakes for the pop-out "wings" on it.
  8. Which one is the latest Bown? (I'm assuming the one farther out or the one centered.) The swarm fighter looks good, since a wing of those are probably too small for larger ships to really handle. - - - Updated - - - A quick recap of the new fleet the MU's prepping to launch following the orbital portion of the Siege of Kerbin... (These have all been submitted to HatBat via private channels.) MU NX-1 Excalibur, a guided missile cruiser/heavy frigate meant as the new flagship craft for MU operations with HKA, alongside the older MU/HKA Helios. MU NX-2 Odin Battlecruiser, armed with a whopping 12 guided 1.25m missiles. MU NX-3 Lancelot, a cut-down version of the NX-1 that serves as the new standard frigate for the MU. MU NX-4 Valkyrie, a light, ion-powered singleship based off of the other NX-series craft that has weapons for self-defense and an open cockpit for manual flying. The NX-5 through NX-10 are still in works, but HKA will not be let down by their allies here at the MU. Matter of fact, we've been in talks about the crisis unfolding down at KSC...
  9. Update on my build: Got a new ASUS A88X Pro motherboard, and a new 750W PSU. PC boots, everything BIOS-related seems to work, but now the SATA-connected SSD and HDD I have don't show up in the BIOS or WIN8.1 install sequence. I've tried swapping the cables between SATA ports, using other SATA cables, and only booting with the SSD or the HDD, but not both. My optical drive does always show up in the BIOS' SATA readout, however.
  10. If a warship's not exceedingly large, stick it in a fairing with booster(s) underneath, and then radial-attach to the sides OUTSIDE the fairing. As for VERY large ships, the method for launching them and getting them into a decent orbit varies, although many use hyperedit to place their ships in LKO, to save on time, effort, and sanity spent trying to make launchers for vacuum-only ships. - - - Updated - - - Sounds like some low internal/external strutting, and/or a gyro kraken. Try loading the ship in a new save. If it still twists, it's likely the former. If no attempted fix can make it stop, then you've likely got some sort of craft or save file corruption involved that's spawning gyro-kraken type effects in the game. - - - Updated - - - The Vraska looks... like a glass cannon. Not to say I don't like it (it's a unique concept), but a single well-placed heavy i-beam round would likely snipe off the main engine in the back, and if you get smacked by a heavier round and survive, there'd be a massive vertical mass imbalance that would make maneuvering a pain in the rear. The Griselbrand II looks alright; the side cargo bays are a nice aesthetic addition for concealing missiles, but the exposed engines, fuel tanks, and the large missile/torpedo tube(s) in the bow all make it susceptible to being 1-shotted with simple ammuntion types. I'd recommend trying out guided munitions and making a ship with sideways or vertically-mounted missile/torpedo tubes, and loading them with guided rounds, making you much less vulnerable to traditional style attack runs and able to lose less ammo from a strong hit. As a final tip, try cutting down on the small missiles, as they will inflate part count tremendously with little punch for their size.
  11. Wow, both look spectacular! The Margen an SSTO?
  12. Heads up- I might be able to churn out craft for this once my new PC stops being a total PITA and will boot to its BIOS and let my install WIN8.1 on it... Until then, I'll be a little more slow than usual with craft for KS and other things (not stopping outright, but sending stuff to HatBat and making things a bit less often).
  13. Aww yeah, SIC looks awesome! I like the unified design aesthetic you went with with all the ships.
  14. Hmm, SI sounds like a very nice company name, and the logo looks sharp. I'm looking forward to it opening up!
  15. Trying to work on using my skills at more sci-fi styled craft to make some unique science-gathering ships, like this early prototype: The whole idea is to store small science probes in the side bays, and then have them go out and get science, return, and then have the onboard lab process it all. Then it'd either transmit the data via the onboard antenna or travel to the nearest station or long-range transport to offload the data for return to Kerbin. I've also been trying REALLY hard to make a working MK3 SSTO...
  16. Glad to see ya back on! On another note, I've got a concept I've been toying around with for a while now, but that just recently came to fruition. More to come...
  17. Update #2: Further testing has confirmed it's the mobo, so I've returned the board (thank god for Amazon Prime/Gigabyte's warranty/return policies) and am about to order an Asus A88X Pro ATX mobo to replace it. This'll hopefully actually function, and it has extra RAM slots, giving my twin 4GB sticks more breathing room next to the giant Cooler Master Hyper T4 CPU cooler/fan combo I'm using.
  18. Mine didn't come with a beeper (shame, too, since it fits everything like a glove), but some basic testing has led me to think it might be the board, as we tried swapping the cooler with the stock one, re-seating the CPU and GPU, and attempting to boot with only one of my twin 4GB DDR3 RAM sticks. Every time, the fans spin for less than a half second, and then they stop. No video output, no fans spinning, no POST or BIOS coming up, no noise. The case's built-in power indicator LED stays on, and the thing seems unresponsive. Considering removing the mobo and attempting to boot outside the case, incase there's something in there shorting the circuits.
  19. Update: PC's built, but it won't boot the BIOS or POST anything. Thinking it's the mobo as the fans spin up for a sec and then stop.
  20. Most of the parts are gifts from family (I'm stretched for cash due to school), so it's definitely an upgrade from my last, pre-built PC with cruddy DDR2 RAM and integrated graphics.
  21. I do run other games besides KSP (Warframe, lots of Source Engine games, some others, etc.) that do utilize quad-core CPUs better, and hopefully 1.1 will make 64 bit (and using more than one core) actually function. On the topic of the PSU, I agree, but it was given from family as a gift, so I'll try it and see if it works well. (A quick google search shows that it's a decent PSU, and reviews say it is fairly quiet and works as intended, so I guess I'll have to give it a go when I finish the hardware build tomorrow!) Anyways, I'll have my rig built tomorrow, so I'll get report back with how well it works. Might try an Intel CPU if I upgrade at some point in a few years, perhaps...
  22. So, this is my new build to replace my current, old, pre-built HP machine: CPU: AMD Athlon X4 760K (FM2 socket) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper T4 Motherboard: Gigabyte F2A88XM-HD3 Memory: 2x G.Skill Ripjaws Gaming Series DDR3 4GB RAM blades Storage: Crucial M500 240GB SSD Storage: Western Digital 1TB HDD Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 750 (2GB DDR5) Case: NZXT Phantom 410 (Red) ATX Case Power Supply: "Ultra Professional" 650 Watt PSU (ATX) Optical Drive: Asus 12X Blu-Ray/CD Reader/Writer Anything that I might need to re-evaluate? It all seems to work quite well in terms of the hardware fitting and such. EDIT: I do already have a keyboard, (several) mice, and a monitor to use with the new machine.
  23. Oooooh, looks nice! Mass Effect inspired, right?
  24. Not really. If you use a hosting site like Dropbox or Mediafire it's literally just putting a single copy-pasted link for each thing in the post, plus pics IF you want to show some. Your comment makes me think you're trying to drive clicks to KME...
