totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
ScriptKitt3h replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Welp, got it finished, and released here on the SCE! -
After recently completing the campaign to Respawn Entertainment's wonderful FPS, Titanfall 2, on Master-level difficulty, I took a dive into finding the game's concept art- there's a lot of great inspiration there. As a direct result of this, meet the IMK TD-4727 'Phase Raptor' Dropship, a top-of-the-line tactical VTOL craft optimized for military use: Designed around a distributed thrust system, the Phase Raptor has twin cockpits (which on a forthcoming BDA version, will allow for a gunner), and a rear passenger hold with room for up to 6 elite Kerbal pilots. Twin forward-thrust jets in the rear provide long-distance flight capability. Additionally, the TD-4727 has quite a bit of agility when in the hands of a capable pilot, showcased here by Jebediah Kerman: /-/ Action Groups /-/: 1- Toggles VTOL propulsion 2- Toggles forward-thrust engines Abort- activates emergency parachutes Download here!

totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
ScriptKitt3h replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
After finally completing the campaign on Master in one of my favorite games of 2016, Titanfall 2, I wound up making a dropship (atmospheric-only as of now) based off the series' aerospacecraft designs. Gonna try and release it ASAP after some further testing and tweaks, since it's still a bit twitchy on low thrust power/gliding, but otherwise functions fairly well. The rear passenger hold carries 6 in addition to the 2 pilots. Also, Junos are now one of my new favorite engines- so easy to spam for VTOL capability! -
~ snip ~ A reminder, anything pertaining to the Kethane Station series needs to go in the discussions thread if it is not a submissions post. Please follow the rules, and let's keep drama to a minimum.

First off, I don't see a download link, but you also failed to post the submission in the correct thread (for submissions), which is here: Additionally, while albums are great for showing craft pics, would you mind providing some in your post itself? It really helps with going through submissions more quickly.
-
As far as I know, no. Based off @HatBat's rules, BDA may only be utilized on surface vessels, with the only potential exception I could think of being a combat SSTO/spaceplane or something along those lines. However, that does bring up an interesting point that it may indeed be very useful to add some comms systems (antenna(s)/relay(s)) to warships now, since KSP now features a fully-fleshed-out comms framework.
-
Think of a military base- sure, it's likely to be armed, but it also has barracks for troops, defensive weapons, and supplies for combat units- so yeah, a bit of both.
-
Along the lines of bases, we're looking for some strategic-level surface bases and orbital defense stations - it'd be wonderful to see some get submitted, and will help greatly in the series' production. Additionally, the rules have been updated, simply to remind everyone to please let us know on this discussion thread when you add/update your submissions in your submission thread post.

And then the rules were changed, as 400 parts can yield VASTLY different craft depending on a ship's role, styling, quality, etc. As it stands now, 400 parts isn't necessarily a "bad" goal for efficiency, but really just be reasonable. These ships are going to be loaded in and more than likely doing quite a lot of movement alongside multiple other craft of varying complexities in a visually modded game. While not every single ship submitted has to be some hyper-simplistic, low-part-count monster of efficiency, at the same time it's preferable that we don't have a submissions thread filled with 1000+ part lagmonsters of dreadnoughts every other post. So really, just be reasonable from @HatBat's perspective- something nice that doesn't cause major performance hiccups and that isn't hard to work with. Not entirely sure on my end, though my suspicion is that it's just a byproduct of the buildup to Episode 25's ground combat getting everyone to focus on atmospheric stuff. But yes, more spaceborne craft would be a welcome sight, and I'm personally hoping that we can get some submissions of stuff like combat logistics craft (like transports and salvage ships), or things like small stations and field bases. Jets, tanks, and other Kerbin-bound craft are wonderful, don't get me wrong, but it'd be great to see some more variety of submissions.

SSTOs! Post your pictures here~
ScriptKitt3h replied to KissSh0t's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Wow, I'm really diggin' that design! Reminds me of a Ranger crossed with a sci-fi cargo shuttle. Neat! -
I'm not saying you can't go in-depth with a backstory, but there are some limits that need to be observed to: A) Comply with the KSP forums rules B) Comply with the KS submissions rules So far your submission post seems fine to me.
-
Bingo. Rules stipulate: " please do not assert actions of HKA and/or GMI outside of the show's plot" , i.e. no making up actions of HKA or GMI that were not shown in the show.

Avenger and Valkyrie Mini crew shuttles
ScriptKitt3h replied to PointySideUp's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Oooh, reminds me of my last small CTV shuttle I made for the Stock Community Space Program, though these seem quite a bit better overall. -
Personally, I would be very careful with how in-depth you go with company bios/backstories, as we're not aiming for RP, just some nice info on the submissions' manufacturer(s).

totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
ScriptKitt3h replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Working on a WIP utility craft/engineering tug. Has room for up to 4 crew inside, full SAS/RCS control, multiple coupling options and twin LV-909s for efficient thrust using LF/O fuel mix, as well as a full comms suite. -
Exactly the idea. The previous submissions thread was far too cluttered and filled with on(and off)-topic chatter that drowned out submissions. In addition, it's easier to go through them in a well-organized manner this way with one post per person.

Naval Battle League 2016-2018
ScriptKitt3h replied to Spartwo's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Nice, though I would say that virtually all of my ships are outdated by this point in my opinion. I've been working on making some new designs to replace some of 'em, but it's slow going with real life and other hobbies taking up time. -
Hello and happy new year everyone! I've just updated the OP and rules in the new submissions thread; if you'd all kindly take a look over there and re-familiarize yourselves with them, that'd be swell.
-
Ok, just to get it out the way: Ships should be (hopefully) designed with the latest version(s) of KSP in mind. Rule of cool is nice, but the ship HAS to be functional. When your submissions are ready, make sure to submit them in the new thread and ONLY the new thread.
-
Ok, sorry if that was confusing. It only applies to spacecraft, any jets/atmospheric craft would be fine.
-
It's up to @HatBat, but there may be exceptions potentially, but it'd have to come from him.
-
Ok, so any orbital vessels (capitals, SSTOs, any SPACE vessels) must be able to reach orbit on a launcher of some sort, or via flying up using their own propulsion. So for a capital ship, some sort of launcher. For a fighter, perhaps a boost rig or propulsion setup that lets you SSTO. There may be some leeway in this depending on the craft, but for now it'll help make sure things are easy-to-work-with and fit with the video lore.
-
Yes, but from here on out all new submissions are in the new thread and each company/person gets one and EXACTLY one post for their submissions. The full set of up-to-date rules are in the new thread's OP, I'd read over them carefully to make sure you've got everything in line with the new regs.
-
So, @HatBat and I had been discussing a new submissions thread that was supposed to drop with Episode 25 for quite a long time... It's finally here. Head on over, read the (updated) rules and regs, and feel free to submit new craft!
-
Disclaimer: You may have ONLY ONE POST IN THIS THREAD. Discussion goes here. Hello! By now many KSP players and frequent visitors to the spacecraft exchange have come across the previous ship submissions thread for @HatBat's wonderful Kethane Station military-themed KSP video series, the latest episode of being Episode 25: The series is quite similar in nature to Macey Dean's "Spiritwolf" and EnterElysium's "World War K". The show also utilizes Nassault-style cinematics when advancing the plot. During the second season of the show, @HatBat started experimenting with other military space agencies within the world of KS. After managing submissions on his own for a long time, he asked me to assist him in keeping things under control. This thread is where you'll be able to submit military ships and resource vessels under the name of your own space agency for future episodes, following the guidelines/rules below. ______________________________ Rules: Please confirm that you've read the rules at the end of your submission. Otherwise your submission will be ignored. - You may only have ONE POST PER SUBMITTER. You can however create a small post linking to your submission regarding submission updates within the Kethane Station Discussion Thread. - When/if you update your submissions in your post, please let us know in the discussion thread linked above. - Keep it stock. There is a single exception for BD Armory (continued) for atmospheric craft like fighters, bombers and tanks, etc. - Try to keep ships efficient in part usage - please try not to be impractical with your design's part count, as they will be loaded ingame alongside other craft of similar sizes and complexities. If a ship is a major problem to work with (due to lag, size, etc.), than its chances of acceptance are lower. - All ships submitted must be thoroughly tested and if they're found to be non-functional then submissions from that user will have to be ignored. We don't have time to ask people to fix their broken ships. - Starships that can reach orbit legitimately will be have a better chance of being used (i.e., having a launcher for a capital ship, or having a manned fighter be able to SSTO, for a couple examples). This is just a suggestion, but keep in mind it's easier to work with an orbit-capable ship. - Submissions aren't just limited to warships, logistical ships, miners and stations - are all welcome. However, adding some useful tactical information about a vessel along with a category will help, and aid in providing some unique info to your submissions. - When submitting you'll need to be as neat as possible. Have a clear title for your company/manufacturer and every ship along with it's category. Include an Imgur album and good pictures of the ship(s) in action (make sure the images are well lit). @Mobius's post is a great example of how to go about this. Host the files on a well known site like Dropbox or KerbalX, otherwise we will not download them. - You must add information about your space agency so HatBat can mention it in the show if he uses one of your craft. This could be a simple bio or an entire history. If you don't add information then your ships will be credited to HKA or GMI directly. However, don't pump any company lore full of crap like 'Oldest company on Kerbin' 'We have our own warp drives' 'We entirely colonised another planet'. It will be ignored. Along the same lines, please do not assert actions of HKA and/or GMI outside of the show's plot. - Please pick a side: HKA or GMI. While it is just a recommendation, staying on the fence makes your agency/submissions harder to work with. - Designs CANNOT utilize game exploits/bugs (think kraken drives, missiles designed to induce physics bugs, broken parts, etc.) to function. This applies to ships, munitions, armor, and so on. - Ships may NEVER be designed with intent to ram other vessels. - While yes, it may be fun to try and make some nigh-invulnerable or all-powerful ship of doom or superweapon, please try and keep your submissions fairly balanced. It's just not fun for one submitted ship to one-shot every enemy vessel it touches in an episode. ______________________________ Now, for those who might not have experience in making military spacecraft in KSP, @Spartwo has a great tutorial series here on getting started with just that- ranging from basics to weapons and more. Additionally, taking a look at the submissions other players have added for inspiration and design tips has never hurt much either. This thread's OP and rules can and will be updated from time to time by @ScriptKitt3h under the guidance of @HatBat. Additionally, there is a discord for the series/submissions; follow this link to join. Do not forget: You may only have ONE POST PER SUBMITTER. The discussion thread for KS is here.
