  1. OP updated to v3! This is probably the last update. I added the Karuna shuttle which can dock and carry around 3 tons of payload plus 2 Kerbals, making it a compromise between the manned and unmanned shuttles. It also has a bit more delta-v than the other two. It is indeed a pain, that's why I gave up on it
  2. If that's your objection, go see it! it was taken out of context. It never was explored as a serious plot point, despite what the trailer made it seem like. It was simply a desperate justification for a character to see one of their loved ones again (and it was ignored).
  3. Let's say... 8/10. Not enough naked Anne Hathaway for a 9 Still among the top 10 films I ever watched.
  4. Hm Not as far as I can see, but usually the scales are either in the pdf title or implied (rockets 1:96, probes and capsules either 1:48 or 1:24)
  5. Oh, wow! Those are your designs? I really like the zeppelin, it looks like something straight out of a steampunk novel Anyways, here is my latest completed thing: the Mercury capsule in 1:36...I think (changed the scale before printing). The design is by Ton Noteboom (here's his site) and is really quite detailed.
  6. In case you are wondering what those are: 1) be friendly 2) have fun 3) there is no rule 3
  7. Maybe seven different branches are a bit too much. But I think KSP would profit from making a few features of KerbalEdu part of the main game.
  8. Speaking of Moho, this is my WIP sample return mission (sans the stage that's going to do intercept burn).
  9. I'd like to see a 1.875 or 2.5m SRB more than 5m parts; however, once the asset loading system is improved, by all means yes! Getting heavy payloads to orbit with 3.75 parts is only easy if you use boosters
  10. The ability to do more...stuff... with action groups. Allow/disallow fuel drain, control from here, set throttle to x% etc. Instead we got "discard crew report" I'd say hinges and rotors, but those are on the WNTS list, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  11. Very nice, Cranium! I tried to make a zero-zero abort system for my shuttles. Nope, not worth the trouble.
  12. I usually build 2.5 stage lifters (2 stages + boosters), though some reach 3 or 3.5 stages. The problem with pure two-stage vehicles are high G-forces near first stage burnout, unless you throttle down.
  13. Classical mechanics is fine. Are you using Lagrangian/Hamiltonian formalism? Because those aren't exactly my cup of tea, but I could try.
  14. Its length doesn't need do be changed though For example, Ven's stock part revamp has a service engine that doesn't seem any longer than the Poodle yet looks like one would expect a vacuum upper stage/lander to look.
  15. I think a part of why Poodle isn't as popular is because it's intended as a vacuum engine, yet it doesn't look the part. The word silly comes to mind- its nozzle is comically short and a bit on the small side for its rated power; also the 2.5m attachment node means you lose some space which could be used otherwise (say, with RCS tanks or batteries)
  16. Thinking of switching as well, at least on my laptop. Back in high school, we used to work with an old version of Debian...I think, and it was less than stellar. But things seem to have improved I'm running OpenOffice, Gnuplot, GIMP and Inkscape anyway, so it shouldn't be much of a shock. Would you recommend Ubuntu or Mint? Also, I heard bad things about Wine HQ, so it's probably good that the old thing can't run any games
  17. Physics undergrad here, how can I help? In the case of the mission going anywhere below LEO, the moss experiment will almost certainly need to be eschewed. Regulations about avoiding contamination with life and so on. There's no way a cubesat could hold up to those standards.
  18. Look on the bright side- this is the perfect opportunity to learn how to do an interplanetary rescue mission!
  19. Holy hell, those are... big ships. Since my previous shuttles had either a cargo bay or a crew, I'm making a new one that has a bit of everything and is a little less stubby. Codename: Karuna.
  20. 'kay, the download link is now updated to v2. If anyone comes up with a vertical launch stack, I'd love to see it
  21. I'd just like to wish the Mexico-based part of Squad best of luck in the following days. Not going to go into details since politics are forbidden here, but you know what's happening and let us hope that it won't come to violence.
  22. That might be because Spiral was indeed the main source of inspiration Edit: the shuttles itself were based on this 1992 concept for HOPE-X
  23. I've tried to improve the unmanned shuttle without changing its appearance. So far, so good Snowborne v1 -> v2 changes: far better RCS port placement and 20% more monopropellant delta-v increased by 140 to 200 m/s, depending on cargo weight changed the, uhh...plumbing. This improves atmospheric stability when there's fuel remaining. Download link coming soon. Of course the whole thing is far from perfect, it takes too much attention and fuel micro-management to make it work as intended...
