[WIP][1.0.5]* RSS Visual Enhancements (RVE)
Ravenchant replied to pingopete's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
You wouldn't, I wouldn't, but sooner or later someone would Anyway, RSS just isn't the same without RVE! So if we can help somehow, I'm up for the challenge -
IIRC Rus-M was the name of the (abandoned) rocket concept on which the craft was initially supposed to fly. So it's almost certainly not that. As for the rest...dunno

4/10 Yum, carrot rockets.

The changelog sounds very intriguing. Good job on making the base mass a fixed number- it did seem silly for fuel tanks to double as structural parts with no penalties.

"Space Launch System" needs a better name!
Ravenchant replied to SmallFatFetus's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I vote for Aquila. It would: - fill the Latin quota - provide a bird equivalent to SpaceX's Falcon - be patriotic. Americans are big about dem eagles, right? -
Interesting food for thought. Assuming the laws will allow one to do that, then: a) I'd want to have my body donated to science. If it's not needed, then: b1) if I'm reasonably healthy at the time of death, take the flesh and use it as animal food. The bones can be used for art projects or whatever. If not: b2) breaking down and extraction of useful nutrients, get turned into fertilizer and literally push daisies. If it's not worth it: c) cremation, at a crematorium that uses the waste heat as an energy source like that one town in Sweden (can't find the link right now, sorry) If none of that goes, then what Mighty1 said

[1.0.5] Gryphon textures for Procedural Fairings v1.4
Ravenchant replied to Ravenchant's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Sounds great! You should let people on the main procedural fairings thread know if you haven't already Good idea, but that would make it necessary for all non-common details to be in the same place. Eh...I'll tackle the problem once everything is implemented -
[1.0.5] Gryphon textures for Procedural Fairings v1.4
Ravenchant replied to Ravenchant's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Well, there's Snjo's Firespitter .dll, which includes a texture switching module. In fact, I just played around with it for a while and it works well! The only problem so far is that it needs to load both textures when the only difference are the insignia. Does anybody know if there's a workaround? I'll update the OP as soon as possible! Edit: OP updated. I can't include the International Launch Services logo at the moment as its use is restricted. Hmm, what to do... -
[1.0.5] Gryphon textures for Procedural Fairings v1.4
Ravenchant replied to Ravenchant's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
New Angara (needs more greebles) to the left, updated Tsyklon interior to the right. -
Congratulations on your first station! And remember: once you're in orbit, you're halfway to anywhere
-
It looked pretty unique, didn't it? One lipstick fairing, coming right* up! *may take several days

[1.0.5] Gryphon textures for Procedural Fairings v1.4
Ravenchant replied to Ravenchant's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
WIP Soyuz interior, needs some work yet: I also managed to get my first "true" part working. It's a dead simple solid booster with stock FX, no gimbal, etc. But everyone needs to start somewhere, right? -
[11/26/15 Update] Say Hello to the Light-Green Group!
Ravenchant replied to Endersmens's topic in Kerbal Network
Wow, no idea how all this karma accumulated, since I'm not really that active around here, but...I can haz exclusive club membership? -
This is glorious. Congratulations on the new version!

[1.0.5] Gryphon textures for Procedural Fairings v1.4
Ravenchant replied to Ravenchant's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thank you! Turns out the config file I was using for them was from an older version of PF Fixed and updated! Thanks for that link I was just making a bezier curve in Inkscape and eyeballing the coordinates before. As for Soyuz... noseHeightRatio=2.2 noseConeShape=0.54, 0, 0.52, 0.035 The blue (Simorgh) fairing posted earlier has the same shape, but a lower noseHeightRatio. -
[1.0.5] Gryphon textures for Procedural Fairings v1.4
Ravenchant replied to Ravenchant's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
First priority is now to make my own interior texture. CBBP's ones look really good, but until I drop them I can't really make the license more permissive- the goal is CC-BY for everything. So I looked at some references, made a higher resolution base texture, and copied the Soyuz fairing config...then I kinda ended up with, well, this. -
It's like going to a pub and polling people on whether they think alcohol consumption is acceptable.

[1.0.5] Gryphon textures for Procedural Fairings v1.4
Ravenchant replied to Ravenchant's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Well, I mostly had the Soyuz fairing in mind as I'm planning several textures for it. Others need different shapes, and models cannot be switched AFAIK. -
If KSP hadn't been early access, that approach likely wouldn't work though. There is a ton of hype. It's just us hyping it instead of Squad!

[1.0.5] Gryphon textures for Procedural Fairings v1.4
Ravenchant replied to Ravenchant's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
[Hype intensifies] @danilon62: you mean like this? It has some weird shading issues, but this may just be a side effect of moving all sliders except for textures to minimum so as to, you know, not horribly murder my notebook. Edit: maybe I should incorporate FS texture switcher... *rambles away* -
[1.2] Procedural Fairings 3.20 (November 8)
Ravenchant replied to e-dog's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thanks! I finally figured out the coordinate system after an embarassing amount of trial and error. -
And most players who didn't think it was worth it won't post on the forums. We have sampling bias going on.
