  1. Provided that vBulletin supports this, I second the notion!
  2. Hm, depending on how the question is understood, I have two answers The heaviest on launch was the Laythe ascent stage from my Jool-5 tour at a bit over 20 tons. The largest mass to orbit was this thingy after visiting Ike, as it's actually a repurposed, refueled Duna lander and had plenty of leftover fuel. I think it massed about 10 tons after the ascent.
  3. It seems to add several shapes and sizes of the "multi" adapters through config files, so without actually doubling the model and texture loading required.
  4. It does look very much like the real thing! (and must have taken you a load of time). Have some rep
  5. Getting the oxidizer+air/fuel just right would probably be a bit tricky...there's a reason it was sparingly used in the past (missiles, usually). That said, they would be useful for certain SSTO configurations. Hybrid rockets on the other hand could be more versatile, something like a throttleable, less volatile SRB and (in theory) easier to operate than a pure liquid propulsion.
  6. I usually stick to stuff like Holst's Planets suite, film music in the vein of Two steps from hell or nonintrusive electronica, which fits space surprisingly well Or, like, right now? I'm currently testing rockets to this: Before you're put off by the name and imagery, the music isn't that extreme really. More like regular heavy metal with an occult twist. Edit: Also this. Chill as heck, makes you forget all those launchpad explosions
  7. So I finally found some time for the aforementioned "workhorse". It's kinda sorta starting to look like a real Soyuz. Now for the detailing
  8. Asymmetric boosters: the best thing since sliced Mk3 parts Noooice! What are the fan blades made of?
  9. Duly noted; the center pair are supposed to have compact ones, but I elongated the right launcher's fairings by 2 panel rows. It will manage about 5 tons to Mun transfer if properly piloted, but the margin of error is tiny as its second stage has a TWR of less than one
  10. The aforementioned launcher family is starting to take shape. I tried to follow a semi-realistic progression, so larger versions will use common 2.5m booster cores. No crossfeed though From left to right- ICBM, 110, 120, 122S
  11. Happy holidays to all of you I got a cordless drill and assorted bits and drill heads. Already knew what I was getting beforehand, of course, but it's still nice Let the home improvement commence! As for my gifts to others, it was mostly handmade stuff this year. Drawings, cookies, a decorative bowl made of coconut shells...
  12. 2/10 I think I've seen you once or twice.
  13. Nice one, dark Jim! If that's supposed to be a Buran replica, its real-life counterpart didn't use shuttle engines on launch. Instead, the engines on the main stack were slightly canted outwards So. I'm going to start another launcher line as my Peruns are mostly outdated and I only ever used half of them anyway
  14. Okay, these are amazing. The Bumper-Wac in particular- so cute!
  15. I only use them for heavy cargo and crew transfers (let's say, >50 tons) to planets beyond Eve or Duna. LV-T30s or 45s work well enough for those two
  16. I'm...not really sure, you could try downsizing the pages to 96% before printing? It's not going to be exactly 1:100, but within a nice margin of error Edit: I'm going to start my next project as soon as I find the time. It's going to be an old workhorse. Guess!
  17. RLA Stockalike Near Future technologies Stockalike station parts expansion Porkjet's habitat pack (but I don't know if it's been updated) Edit: Tantares HGR Cacteye telescope KSO looks close enough to stock as well
  18. Not today, but still this week, which I hope is enough to get off on a technicality This is the second time I landed on Moho and the first time returning to Kerbin from there: 38 seems like an...oddly specific number. Any particular reason to it?
  19. I like version 4 the most. 1 just seems a bit too...busy because of the contrast.
  20. I third (fourth?) Weir's The Martian. If you haven't read Rendezvous with Rama yet, do it! I actually went through it in a day, it's captivating As for author suggestions- Greg Egan's work is brilliant IMHO, but he mostly deals with transhumanism and/or speculative physics so if that isn't your cup of tea it might not be worth it.
  21. That's what happens when one has some free time on a Sunday Ranger Block 3 lunar impactor in 1:48 scale, found on this site. I didn't have bananas at hand, so this 10 cent coin will have to do
  22. My Moho sample return mission is progressing! I'll use an old trusty M-SA with a stretched upper stage for its launcher. The current plan is for the upper stage to make the transfer burn to Moho, where the donut-shaped braking stage will deposit the craft into orbit. However, the mission will have to wait for a good launch window. Once there, the return module will stay in orbit and the ascent stage will have to rendezvous with it later, so it is powered by monopropellant to avoid lugging two separate tanks around
  23. Keeping my fingers crossed, this looks daunting.
