I didn't comment on this earlier because I was thinking about the Design of it. So now: 1) What does the CW designate? 2) Completely Agree that F-1B is just F-1 with new manufacturing technique (really not even an F-1A with new manufacturing) 3) Since you are using the same combustion cycle but with a more RS-25 engine bell design (which is appropriate) Why the particular color for the main bell? I would think having it similar to RS-25 color would set it apart from say... NK-33 / RD-171 family looks. I am seriously getting NK-33/43 thoughts when Looking at this. 4) Finally. Thank you! An upgrade F-1 engine would work well with MLV and maybe JUST maybe we can see less cursed rockets that shall not be named Just joking GoldForest, I know you will make a Saturn S-8 monster with these and launch something HUGE! So you can see why I am asking about the color

To be clear, I am not on the BDB team. I am honored that they allow me to post my history documents here because I prefer to write these things for people who appreciate them and can get into the nitty gritty of things that someone like anyone of us who have played this game for more than 15 minutes probably are. Also, I should be clear... Wait and see is what I said. That was reflecting other modders. As I remember, the BDB team took the stance of "we will make mod for it when official mod support is a thing" I know the latest parts revamps were actually in part made to support KSP2, and in part made to bring old assets up to a higher standard of visual appeal (and add new features.) Again to be CLEAR these are my thoughts and memory and are not an official statement by Team BDB!

Um, ORANGES, The various Chinese rocket mods (I don't use them I don't know how good they are but they are in development) Might want to stick your head into https://spacedock.info/kerbal-space-program/browse/updated and check it out A lot of modders seem to have migrated to the "Wait and See" for KSP2... And that is Totally fine. We will see what happens

Ok, so a lot of 3rd tier sources on the McD/Boeing EELV entrant. Trustworthyneess... LOW Most state that it is in fact an un-modifed Delta K upper stage for the Delta IV EELV SUS. HOWEVER two sources cite an "Enhanced AJ10 borrowing technology from the Pratt and Whitney RL10-B2 engine bell" Of course this leads to an extremely ugly Delta IV. One with an 8ft (1.5m ksp scale) pimple on top! I have had zero issues but... Your mileage may vary

Funny enough, In researching SUS... I discovered that Delta IV SUS is just Delta K with new interface and stretched tank... so Delta IV sorta does have Thor Delta heritage... By a fingernail! Mind you that is MORE over-simplified than calling the Atlas V SUS an Agena. The Delta IV SUS utilizes the same Interface connections as Delta II so above the tank it is essentially the same guidance section and satellite hardware. The document even calls out that the final fairing diameter for the Delta IV SUS is 8ft diameter! Mind you this is all Super preliminary Hand-wavium work. A simple abstract description of the Delta IV SUS... Improved AJ-10-118K(lighter Composite bell instead of our favorite Niobium Blue bell) Enhanced tankage allowing for more fuel volume (no details listed) Delta II 8ft fairing and interfaces. I will re-examine my sources and try to crank out some firmer data later today. I was focused on GD's SUS and just happened to Find the McD SUS info

Ok Followup. Had a quick discussion with some other people on the Shuttle Booster and also referenced my copy of Jenkins on Shuttle. The name is Titan Liquid Booster Module TLBM or LBM. The art in my previous post is MOSTLY Legit. Two tanks would actually be shorter than the other two to avoid excess gaseous vapor in the tanks during acceleration. Long story short, it was designed to make Shuttle a Polar orbitable vehicle without going to extremes in weightloss. Instead we got light weight ET and Extra Light Weight ET and Composite SRM. If you look closely you can see that the bottom left and upper right tanks are longer than the Upper left and lower right.

@Entr8899@GoldForest This is just someones random artwork (I doubt the MSFC tag is legit) But this is all I have AT THE MOMENT Yes that is a Titan LR87-AJ-9 (I specifically remember it being a -9 because better low altitude thrust then the then only AJ-11 High altutide bell, Latter the AJ-11 got 2 bells.) The tanks are IIRC 2nd stage Titan II tanks 2 each oxidizer and 2 each Fuel The interstages are GONE and structural re-enforcement rings are added.

RE Titan, I do not presume to speak for the BDB team, but in my opinion the art still holds up mostly WELL... a few minor nitpicks that might be made better but it is already of the same basic art generation as the new Atlas V parts... I would rather see some of the more oddball stuff not in "publics mind" things like the Titan Transfer vehicle (which is an honest to goodness weird alternative to Transtage) or baring that, maybe some ab-historic parts that fit the current Atlas/Delta/Titan art styles. We can always use more interesting parts.. RE new rockets, don't see a need. We have two good mods for Vulcan. And well this is a mod mostly about the 60s,70,80s space flight and 80s is BARELY there. Atlas V and latter Delta IV were "larks" if you will that do not fit with the timeline on their own of the rest of BDB.

I Find this quite SUS. Pun intended... if you do not know what SUS is you haven't read the article I just posted! Also my Github Wiki has been updated with the Agena articles here: https://github.com/Pappystein/Space_History/wiki/Agena-Documents Click on the Link for the article you want. Click the RAW button in the top right and Viola! Agena articles in PDF form

Yep, everyone loves bringing an aviation historian to the parties. I just call it like it is... But F-104 is damn sexy. Soo many innovations and the one that was deadliest was the combination of the state of engine technology with the ultra-thin wing. 1st aircraft armed with a 20mm M61 Vulcan Gatling cannon 1st aircraft in production with higher than Mach2 speed Many Time to height/time to climb records Destroyer of my favorite Semi Truck. She went BIG! But she wasn't worth the cost to make her. Just my opinion

So my career has been progressing, but I have run into the issue that most of my moon probes burn up in atmo when I return... Sadly So I switched to Kerbin probes... this is 30 seconds after payload seperation between a higher performance Redstone (literally just more fuel and a couple SRBs for takeoff) and the ground science probe based on Agena parts mostly... I am using the Baluttes because they work great with BDB (too bad there is no 0.9375m or 4.25m diameter versions!~) And as you can see, I have a Balutte on my payload... and back through the central hole of the ring... another Balute? Yep the Rocket itself is recovered via Balutte and Parachute! Works great! Also, now that the Minuteman parts are in BTA... Proper Saturn II INT-19 can be made:

F-104... the sexiest Piece of junk to come out of the Lockheed and Kelly Johnson's head. Actual usable roles: Sounding rocket replacement... killer of pilots... nothing else *Test Pilot trainer, sucker of funds from all of NATO/OTAN* Looks: out of sight Capabilities: Wut? Performance: Way ahead of the pack but not useful

I see you, too, are embracing the Use Rockets, Not Shuttles Build concept. (Although if this is ETS freedom, then it makes sense.) Station is looking good. And yea there are a lot of parts needed to make either the IRL Freedom or the ETS one. I probably should open a sandbox career so I can build a station too!.....

So I have been playing with the new Atlas parts that Zorg has made. 1st I want to compliment @Zorg, the fine details on these parts is amazing! Sure the tanks are mostly similar to the old Bossart ones from what 3 years ago now? But, when you get to things like the Skirts, the LR-105 and the engine mounts... :perfetto: I have been struggling in my career (both full and Science) with the part distribution (combined with my mods selection) to get moving... has lead to some weird builds like the Atlas III tankage with LR-105/LR-89-NA3 engines... And a Vega... with an Agena on top of it. I am having to do the "Saturn I/IB" launch profile as my payload is too much mass for the rocket to get into a simple circular orbit. That is fine, not a bash on the work here. But what it has taught me is that the game is still awesome... A game that I have played for 10 years. Also I learn new things all the time. My most reacent launch (pictures up this page,) was an Atlas D with an Agena-C/ShuttleAgena/Agena2000 built from Atlas-Vega parts, a hypergol fuel patch and the Bell LR81 8096 engine. Again I had to orbit with a high "AOA" to get the payload up above the pull of gravity. And excepting that I forgot to put a decoupler between the payload and the "Fat Agena" was a perfect launch of my first 1000km Relay sat. I have enough fuel left that I could in fact extend the orbit (circular) to 3-5000km (I ended up parking it at 3,000km. now I have a communication node (one of 2 I plan in co-located oribts) for Mun missions and Minimus missions Why am I posting this? IDK. But I thought I would share the fact that this game continues to teach me new things... I am an old hat been on forums pretty consistent since mid 2013, I am still learning things.
