  1. I pitted the HEI-45 against the Micro AIV and it didn't fare well. It'd make a great supersonic bomber, but it might be too heavy for a dog fighter. You're welcome to download the Micro AIV above to test it against your new design.
  2. @goduranus Ok, another Micro redesign. The Micro AIV: https://u66999462.dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/66999462/Micro AIV.craft Also, just another note. Since positioning is so important to the match, and the AI does wacky stuff, best of 3 matches would probably remove some victory randomness. Though, I understand that it's 3x the work.
  3. It's not worth spending the time unless I plan to add to it, and right now I rather actually play the game. I give you permission to stop checking this thread so you don't get annoyed, god forbid.
  4. @goduranus Throwing down again for the non-spaceship jet dogfight, this time with more ECM and a redesigned wing. Micro AIII: https://u66999462.dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/66999462/Micro AIII.craft

  6. Wow, that gun kill was awesome! Back to the drawing board.
  7. @goduranus For your consideration, the Micro A: https://u66999462.dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/66999462/Micro A.craft
  8. I'd give this challenge a try if it weren't for this. This just buries the design in tedium trying to add draggy parts to it to slow it down. I rather try to create an elegant and light craft.
  9. Added Chinese version of guide to front page, along with backup mirrors for both French and Chinese guides. Thanks for your translation work! As for the guide itself, I know drag has since changed from when the tut was created, but the rest of the guide is still very useful.
  10. Thank you folks for reporting bugs. Currently, KAX is not in active maintenance or development. My efforts are being spent on developing a strategy card game at the moment. https://www.ablearcher83.com/ http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=850261606
  11. Yeah, I'm not too thrilled that 1800 posts were lost. At least I was able to restore the OP from web cache.

  13. I should update this at some point. Thankfully the drag model has changed since it was created, but much of what you see there still applies. There's more to touch on, like empennage design, but the original goal of the guide was to give players a starting point to create their own designs and learn beyond that from trial and error, which I think it still succeeds in.
  14. Hey folks, KAX won't be officially supporting KSP 1.1 until its release. For the experimental version of 1.1 available to Steam users, you can find the Firespitter for 1.1 pre-release here, https://github.com/snjo/Firespitter/releases, and use the Firespitter.dll to replace the one in the KAX's included Firespitter folder.
  15. Thanks much RoverDude for continuing to maintain this plugin for the mods that rely on it!
  16. Thank you so much Snjo & RoverDude for your continued development and support of Firespitter! KAX and many other mods wouldn't be possible without it. It's a fantastic mod and powerful plugin to develop for. Also, your tidy and detailed documentation on git is a rarity in modding. To me, Firespitter is a community staple.
  17. Life has been pretty busy and I haven't made time to update, but yes, plenty of things have changed. I've got a list of edits to make to the tut once I get to it, and that's one of them. Most of the information is still relevant.
  18. KAX dev here. Tetryds, thanks for putting in the legwork to host this awesome challenge! I've been too busy to participate, but enjoy watching from the sidelines. Looks like a blast! I also wanted to give you peeps a heads up that once KSP 1.1 drops, KAX will be updated with balance tweaks. This may affect existing designs.
  19. Put the latest Helion design up to t3hJimmer's F-4 Destroyer Mk3 with interesting results. The Helion has a weak spot for missiles, but proves deadly up close. Also added a neat little kills counter. I filmed it at a very wide view since I think it better shows the positioning of the aircraft teams--it's more telling than watching up close. *edit*-seems I miscounted; forgot to count the Helion suicide run into the corpse of one of the Destroyers. Final score should be 8-6 Helion. Helion III-D craft file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/66999462/Helion%20IIID.craft
  20. Personally, I'm in the BD Armory and maybe FAR only crowd. Some mods are so terribly broken balance wise that it becomes a hack fest--who can use the most broken parts. I dig the X-style take off. The one thing I might change for official trials is setting the aircraft up further away from each other, maybe teams start 1km away from the runway on each side. One last thing. 30mm cannons should be more points than the 20mm. They hit way harder, and although are heavier, they're really a ground assault weapon. Imho, they're a little cheaty, but with a higher point value might be balanced.
  21. That music got me so hype. +1 for sweet video presentation, showing both team's jets, etc. Some great combat there. For the sake of even tourneys the FoV and altitude are the two things I've been setting evenly across whatever aircraft I test. I take it for the tourny there'll be an official FoV & altitude so aircraft will duke it out in the same airspace. I used 360 deg view, 900m min alt, and 2475m preferred for both team's craft since one of the early face offs with other player's jet used those figures. The jets that position and attack first have a huge advantage, hence the reasoning for setting them all the same.
  22. I pit the F-7 Vulture against the Helion III-B with deadly results. The second Helion takes a missile at 0:42 and keeps on fighting! The Vultures are quite well armored, but it comes at the cost of a lower thrust-to-weight ratio. Helion III-B TWR: 5.93 F-7 Vulture: 4.72 Round #1: Round #2:
