  1. I always thought this would be a great idea. The 5 or 6 days at the end would be full of Year's End or Turnover festivities and celebrations. As I understood it, the Imperial system was based on the length of the king's thumb (pouce in french; also means inch) and feet (the foot, obviously). No wonder it got confusing and difficult to standardize, especially when there was a new king. Not sure what the other Imperial measurements were based on.
  2. When you're the only Grade 11 student among the Grade 12's that your high school sends to the Physics Olympics competition at the nearest university, a few hours drive away (This was over 30 years ago, it just came to mind when today I drove past the hotel we stayed at).
  3. Now they have a hat, he must be serious!
  4. I had a similar occurence on Ike, with a simpler ship. Much easier to badS it into space... http://coub.com/view/4o2p1
  5. With 13T to GTO, you can put a pretty freakin big commsat up there
  6. This. When the KSP framerate on my i7-3630qm laptop gets choppy, shutting down, blowing out my vents, and starting back up does wonders. Bear in mind that (in previous versions at least, not sure about 1.2.2) after changing scenes and/or reverting a lot, KSP can slow down and get choppy or stutter. Simply restarting KSP helps sometimes.

  8. My first "Got it!" would have been figuring out what the Space Bar does. My last major "Got It" moment was figuring out how to fly the navball, i.e, make the different symbols and markers move where I want them to, especially for docking.
  9. A Kerbal Space Center Tour by Kritter Kerman This reporter toured the sparking new Kerbal Space Center today, and fortunately walked away from it. The future of our fledgling space program looks explosively bright indeed, with these recklessly clever kerbals working to fling Jeb into the Great Beyond. “First off, always be ready to duck, because that badS Jebediah might be flying around in the Barnstormer,” said my guide, Walksalot Kerman. “We hoped to build a tour buggy by now, but we’re still perfecting the wheel,” he added apologetically, as we walked towards the aircraft facilities. Our tour bypassed the Administration Building. “Nobody ever goes there. Mortimer gets pretty lonely… Here’s where we’ve broken ground for our new runway, with plans to level and pave it when we scare up more funds.” At Mission Control, Gene Kerman was trying to get someone to take a contract to test launch clamps in Minmus orbit. “He’s always busy with contracts nobody will take,” whispered Walksalot. “We should go to the VAB.” In the Vehicle Assembly Building, I gazed in rapt wonder at the rust-specked tower of metal rising above me. “We found this stuff lying at the side of the road,” exclaimed Wernher Von Kerman. “And someone is going to ride that into the sky?” I asked. “You guys are very brave, very stupid, or just plane crazy!” “Thanks,” replied Wernher. Then we stood on the scorched ground of the Launch Pad. “Just ignore that conspicuous green substance cooked into the ground,” said Walksalot. We were in the Research and Development complex, eating burgers barbecued over a Poodle engine and watching Wernher’s trained ants building a prototype LV-1 rocket engine, when a thunderous explosion shook the ground. “Jeb did it again,” grumbled my guide, rushing me out. "The tour’s over!”
  10. Next they'll announce a mission to the Kerbol Trappist-1 system. j/k
  11. The Tempest's strength was speed at low altitude, along with a heavy punch
  12. Not enough. Not enough. Sorry. ... When you have to use Rhinos! Mad props to anyone who gets the reference.
  13. I came to love the Hawker Tempest V while playing CFS3, as the 20mm cannons packed a heavy punch (I don't recall if I had the damage setting turned up, but scoring a hit with just one bullet was often enough to send an enemy spiralling down). It's high speed at low altitudes made it one of the best fighters of WWII, especially for countering the V-1's and Me-262's.
  14. I don't have any ideas other than moving towards what I call a "scorched earth" solution, or in this case, "scorched earth lite." You could do a Windows "Refresh" which re-installs Windows without deleting any of your data, but you still need to reinstall your programs. This would be a second-last resort before completely formatting your HDD and reinstalling Windoze from scratch. Hopefully someone has other solutions before it comes to these options.
  15. If you go into settings from the main menu, near the bottom of the right-hand side of the general tab there is a checkbox for "Ease in Gravity." Is that checked? It may help....

  17. Well, AFAIK, gimbaling the engine bell is one form of thrust vectoring. Vanes in the exhaust stream would be another. There may be other (more complicated) ways of creating a vectoring effect. I suppose one could try vectoring a model rocket engine, but that's just asking for an out of control rocket coming at you.
