i thought this one was worth posting - i call it the Sprite XT-1 SHLV : behold: this beast has enough 'uumph' to make it to the moon (whenever there is a moon, that is...) - it can blast into a 60K circular orbit and still hold half a tank in the third stage and a whole fourth stage still unfired 8) requires a bunch of addons - * my just-because heatshield * the SIDR parts pack 0.81 * Wobbly Rockets 1_08 * Micro engine and fuel tank flying notes: * it's not recommended to blast off with full throttle -- launch with 30% and increase to full once clear of the pad * SAS availability is minimal - and absent in the upper stages - you shouldn't need it tho - it's quite stable (i hope) * the eight SRBs are rigged to activate in a sequence of four first, then two and then two more * once the last pair of boosters goes - the bertha engine will heat up quite fast (dunno why it does that) - throttle down, lest it blows * a healthy amount of fear is recommended when flying this thing - it just might murder you otherwise

How can I mod in custom crewmen?
Moach replied to Westy543's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
i'm not a part of the dev team, actually.... i'm only the global moderator for the forums, you know : that means i have as much say on how the game is made as a traffic cop has on how cars are manufactured ;D -- and being HarvesteR's brother, that prob'ly makes me the least likely person to have suggestions taken around here but i can ask him, if he ever comes online.... -
i hear there will be cake when we land ;D

and then it's 'blah' games down out throats and DRM up our opposite orifices... then they thinks it's bad when Cap'n Patchy comes along and saves the day i find this highly educational: best way to prevent piracy, IMHO - is to make a GOOD game - that people will WANNA buy (not coerced by heavy advertisement) - make it run well on their PC's, price it correctly (ever more rare, these days)- and go out and actually speak to the users as real people, instead of a faceless corporation.... people are less inclined to 'stealing' from someone they know is just another guy working hard at something.... corporations, meh - they've got too much money already... the fact that my brother HarvesteR here bothers to come down and spend some of his otherwise insanely busy time responding to users face-to-face (as much as an online forum goes, that is...), goes a long way in showing that the people making KSP are actually real humans, set on a goal they feel strongly about - not corporate drones working on some inane marketing-research derived project that no-one really 'loves', personally.... so yeah... DRM, bad! - good game, good! ;D if anything else - users can be encouraged to go the 'right way' and buy the game if they realize there are desirable things they would miss out on, should they opt for less honorable means of acquisition... any game that goes online, already has a large headstart on this, since it's viable to check for copyright correctness in a non-intrusive way then... preventing patch-people from using multiplayer or other web-based features in the other hand, forcing people to connect in order to play, whether they want to or not - that's just foul.... bottomline - don't treat every user as a potential thief - and most will likely not become one... whenever big companies realize this, we'll be a lot more advanced as a civilization : ... and back to topic - yeah, it's Squad's first game

Radial or Linear couplers that allow fuel flow?
Moach replied to Lawn Dart's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
it works sideways, but in a way opposite of what would usually be desired... engines mouted on side-pods (should you manage to construct them - requires some addon parts) will drain fuel from a central tank - unfortunately, tho other way around doesn't work in the current version... so no shuttles just yet it will work on the next one, i'm told : -
the probe must be hailed! :hailprobe:

Orbit display window . . .
Moach replied to rcsguns's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
yeah, i made that in photoshop... we'll see something to that extent in future versions.... for now, there's the calculators mentioned above : -
for now: cheers to XKCD  ...and if all else fails - ask here! that's what we're around for :
-
nah... - there's a sister tho : - but she isn't much into rockets or things that go 'boom' in general ;D
-
welcome aboard! if you don't mind - i added a liittle translation to your post ;D (just a short topic description) so other mods don't feel tempted to move it to the international board : have fun with KSP! and may your number of launches be at least somewhat near your number of landings
-
i thought i'd maybe introduce myself properly as well... for those who do not yet know, i'm HarvesteR's twin brother, Guilherme 'Moach' Falanghe - who still lives in Brazil... (which one is the 'evil' twin has yet to be determined) ;D may i also add, the idea for this game was something we thought up together, tho he decided to put it to practice while i busied myself otherwise - anyways, we're both game programmers, (graduated same college... same class, actually) working at different things at the moment ah well, Hi everyone!
-
HarvesteR told me it was supposedly a flywheel setup... he also added that in future versions, whenever electrical power makes it into the simulation, the SAS should draw it's share out of it then there would be other options, such as RCS modules which require propellant in order to maneuver (but are more flexible, in terms of flight control) i informed him that the current way the SAS hold attitude is somewhat strange, for it functions as an attitude-hold deal, and that it should reset the target direction when input is given by the pilot... so it'd act more like a real stability augmentation system then probably in a few versions from now, this will be fixed :
-
thanks man! this is surely worth having a look
-
yeah, but i reckon we should probably make it back into a problem in KSP, just for the 'suspense factor' ;D
-
in the words of obi-wan-kenoby 'that's no moon!' there aren't any moons in KSP yet - don't let anyone fool ya - there'll be some large amount of announcements when moons finally become a real feature... by now, they're just a development plan... i too can hardly wait... it's just such an awesome idea :
-
Game Programmer here - i like to think of myself as something of a Mad Scientist / Rocket-Surgeon with A.D.D. who knows how to tell a computer what to do (and more often than not, it even obeys ;D) i actually graduated in the same thing as my Brother HarvesteR... heck, he was on my group for the graduation project (we were the only two in a group of seven who actually got work done) :

Welcome to the KSP forums! we hope your stay here will be as pleasant as it can be, and that all your questions get answered with due thought and care feel free to use this board to introduce yourself and to ask those basic questions we all once had! there's no such thing as a stupid question here - so if you just got here, feel free to ask away! you'll find the KSP community is very friendly and eager to help happy flying! - and may your number of landings be always close to your number of launches ;D
