I designed my most ambitious craft, lovingly named the "Madness of Caligula"! If I can get it into orbit/complete a mission with it, I will post a mission report Others have certainly done bigger, but this is my personal largest craft ever.

while i completely agree with most of that, I must add that the thermometer looks like an old style mercury thermometer (image for those who have never actually looked at it lol) putting one of those in a freezer, then taking it out and driving to another city to read it would skew the data a little haha. again, I agree with you, but its hard when the part looks like that

Your post makes it seem like this game is impossible to play without a slide-rule or calculator. I came into KSP knowing nothing about orbital mechanics, and thinking it was completely reasonable for superman to throw things right into the sun from LEO, or that burning straight up to the mun is the best way to do it. You dont need any delta-v calculator to play. I have always played just slapping parts together, I learned that going straight up means coming straight down so you need to do a gravity turn. The game allows you to play more technically if you want, calculating dv and doing weight stuff or whatever, but that would be unfun tedium for me personally.

twice last week I entered stable elliptical orbits just slingshoting around the joolian system. once with vall and once with bop. IDK if its an error, but I only did burns when ejecting from the previous moon, and ended up with orbits at the target moons for free.

the physics rules in the kerbal universe are not the same as the rules in our universe. so all this talk about super dense planets and such is absurd. earth has a surface gravity of 1 earth g, and kerbin has a surface gravity of 1 kerbin g. the fact that both are 9.8 m/s is also completely normal, because we are talking about kerbal meters, not earth meters.

Yeah Capt Snuggler, that's the part I was referring to. It looks pretty smart(what with all that exposed circuitry) , so I thought it would be a good candidate for acting all computer-y.
