  1. More TWR is on the way. I'm doing initial testing on the new G120. First build should be available later today.
  2. I was going to change the name to shallot when I remake it. I can change the name of the old one too though, sure.
  3. You put a base plate on upside-down on top, then another right-side up under the payload. When you attach the fairings, make sure you put them on the nodes from the top base plate. That way they will lift up off the stack during an abort. I'll try to make an imgur album tutorial after the forum update. Regarding the G90, it was never intended as the lifting engine, I'm going to make one when I can.
  4. Hey Lack, I've been checking out SXT and I'm really impressed. The parts are amazing and I can't believe how well you managed to utilize squad's textures for everything. I used your N1 style parts (and a few other mods:wink:) to fly a stock alike Russian Mun mission. If you'd like to see it here's a link: Link to mission report Anyways thanks again, keep up the great work!
  5. Hi, just having some fun with a few mods and thought I'd share a fun mission I pulled off. Launch was the most difficult portion as the third stage didn't quite have enough DV to get me out of the atmosphere. I ended up having to pump about 3/4ths of the third stage's fuel into the second stage to get the altitude I needed. After that everything went pretty smooth, despite one of my injection engines overheating and blowing up. Part Mods used: -SXT -RLA stockalike -Procedural Fairings -HGR I know some of the craft's accuracy is off, (Solar panels and LK ascent for instance) but all in all I had a lot of fun planning and flying the mission.
  6. Oh hahaha that "command seat" was supposed to be removed, it was just a test model to see if a kerbal could fit inside a tiny sized cylinder for a tycho brahe type thing. EDIT: My LES is meant for the mk 1 pod, so a kerbalized mercury tower if you will. It was mentioned earlier, but I'll link angain, Wolf Aerospace has a nice soyuz style tower. Maybe if enough people want it I'll make my own, but for the time being I'm going to be working on more important aspects of the pack. Also, thanks for the pics everyone, glad you're all having some fun.
  7. OK here's what I'm considering the "unofficial" update, forum upgrade bonanza. A lot of the content is more WIP than I'd normally like to release to you guys, but this will be a nice dryrun for the new format. Now you won't need both HGR and HGRtest. The beta version will include everything that the release version does. To make it easier on myself the beta's file is still labeled as just HGR, this way I don't mess up any MODEL{} paths. With that, here is the download: http://www./download/3odldt8avz8ayjd/HGRbeta.zip There will likely be a more official update later in the week, have fun!
  8. I'm excited for Mondays, they're my day off lol. I didn't get anything done like I was planning to yesterday, because a wild girlfriend appeared. I'm going to be working on stuff today but the servers go down tomorrow. So, I'm thinking about putting up an "as is" update and then I'll try and put up another when the forums are back.
  9. It probably wouldn't have to with a fourth booster. It's still not a perfect system. @Taki117: Everything that isn't stock or Pfairings in the picture is HGR.
  10. Scaled up the solar panels by 10% hopefully that looks better. The silhouette is a good indication of the size and shape of things. (Also I think silhouettes are cool) The launcher in the picture got the Soy-juice into LKO with about 3/4 of the service compartment's fuel remaining. I think that with a proper lifting engine it'll be even more efficient. The boosters are already only 3 way symmetry, so that's a good sign. I think that by the time .24 rolls around we might have ourselves a nice inexpensive LKO launcher. EDIT: I should mention that this is with stock aerodynamics, as long as it's stable in FAR it should work there too. Special thanks to MaverickSawyer for telling me a better way to arrange the fairings.
  11. I'm basing the solar panels more on the old soyuz and soyuz apollo test mission, which had taller and less wide panels than the current version. http://historicspacecraft.com/soyuz.html Also when things get Kerbalized they tend to get squished a bit, not to mention looking at them from a limited camera perspective can skew things. The Onion is very slightly oblong, so from some angles you will be able to tell more than others. If people still don't like the panels after they've gotten to play around with them, then we'll see about changing them.
  12. Thank you but I can't take credit for the fairings. They're procedural fairings. I used the interstage upside down on top, so it will allow for a soyuz style abort. I don't think I'm going to make dedicated fairings as I feel like it forces one single way of using the parts. (Because the craft would have to fit in the fairings, which would be of a specific size) I don't really like the idea of parts that only serve one purpose/build style. But who knows, I often end up doing things that I say I'm not and vise versa. Thank you for your kind words though. ^^ Have you seen this? It has a nice soyuz style LES. Which reminds me, one nice thing about the proc fairings inerstage adapter is that since you can change the baseplate's size, it can be fitted to any escape tower you could want.
  13. Solar panels with working antennas and the 1.875>2.5 adapter. I've got to tone down the orange a bit on the adapter, I'd like it to match the jumbo 64. The OM's IVA is started but still has a bit to go. Hopefully it won't be long. I'm considering putting out an update Monday so people will have something to play with while the forums are down.
  14. Good looking two stage landers are hard to pull off, great job! In other news I've gotten a little done on the first new OM. The texture is still WIP and I haven't started the IVA yet. I've also modeled and mostly UV mapped the 1.875->2.5m adapter. (Not shown) EDIT: Yes, I'm definitely much happier with the silhouette this thing gives the Soy-Juice. Hopefully when I get to re-doing the shenzhou style one, I can do it justice as well.
  15. I agree, the OP is a bit of a mess and due for an updating. I'll have to get on that.
  16. You're right the G90 really isn't a lifting engine, it's more of a second stage like the skipper. I'd like to make a multi-nozzle lifter engine at some point. For now clustering LV-T30s isn't too bad a way to go I think. The amount of fuel in the tanks is equal to amounts in stock tanks, but you end up with a lower but wider profile vs 1.25m tanks and a taller but skinnier profile vs the 2.5m ones. My plan for the lifter would probably have in the neighborhood of 600-800 thrust, little to no gimbal, and an average atm. ISP, and poor vac. ISP.
  17. Hey that's not a bad fit, nice. I've thought about making a Big R and others have asked for it. Maybe when I've got more of the other stuff I'm working on finished I'll do one.
  18. You could try adding the ladder transform. I don't know if that's the issue for sure but it could be worth a shot.
  19. Here's a bit of an off the wall question, for the PMK, do people prefer the Kerbals to be helmeted or would it be better to remove their helmets in the IVA?
  20. I took a quick look in game to check out your IVAs. It's awesome that you managed to squeeze two kerbals into the TST crew module, I know how hard getting two side by side like that is. With the LLL crew module it looks like you put the interior mesh into the "internal spaces" layer. Something you might consider doing is spliting the mesh so that everything in front of the kerbal is in "internal spaces" and everything behind him is in "kerbal" layer. Then you will see the space behind him in the picture, but it won't be blocked by the front of the IVA. (I assume this is why you put it on that layer) I think you're off to a good start and I think a lot of people will like this. (I know a few people started on 1.25m Soyuz-like pod but never finished) I do have one question though, why is your orbital module unmanned?
  21. Minlab, one of the very few space stations I've built. Her first crew is due to rotate soon and will bring home much scientific data and samples from several regions of Minmus.
