I think you need to learn to loosen up. They have to get money so they can make and sell what looks to be an awesome game. And, funnily enough, there's not much ON their website. They're trying to impress on people just how awesome people think their game could be.

... you all are far too serious. I still laugh when, through some misfortune, my rocket smashes itself to bits on the launchpad without even taking off. (Darn you, 2m parts!) As a general rule I'll restart and restart again until I get my desired result.

The goal was met! PLANETARY ANNIHILATION WILL BE A THING!
-
I think this counts. Evel Kernievel, anyone?

I once (somehow) managed to land my 2m hab module on the Mun after the Kerbin-ascent-stage's decoupler failed... by landing on the ascent-stage's engines, which promptly exploded and took everything south of the decoupler with them, leaving Bill, Jeb and Bob to float (relatively, physically) unharmed to the Mun's surface in the now-deployed hab module.

Enough of that, because it's bull****. Take your political views elsewhere, and preferably somewhere not in the presence of military personnel who know far better than you what the purpose of the military is. Our oath is not "to expand the power of the Nation through military means"; our oath is "to defend this Country from all enemies, both foreign and domestic." By and large our missions are aimed at perceived threats to the nation, or in defense of someone ELSE's liberty.

True. But as the first space race showed, technology and capabilities expand exponentially when there's a clear goal at the end of the tunnel, whether that be a "my-space-manhood-is-bigger-and-more-potent-than-yours"-fest like the 60s race or the "Ooh, money" race this one looks to be shaping into, what with all the private companies getting in on it now. And whereas it is, yes, cheaper to put probes and rovers in orbit/on the ground first (that'll probably become standard procedure for anything we land on!), landing on a strange new world has a far greater impact on the minds of the human race. Very few people will remember what Curiosity even was; there probably isn't a person on Earth that doesn't at least recognize the name of Neil Armstrong, even if some of them can't quite remember why they know the name... and Curiosity happened only a few weeks ago; Neil Armstrong walked on the moon 43 years ago.

Wouldn't happen. For starters, no self-respecting space agency (all of whom know about Mars' sandstorms) would ever leave their modules just laying out in the open. At least not for long. One of your first priorities would be to bury them in Martian earth, simply to ward of radiation. Being semi/fully underground tends to diminish the effects of sandstorms. Plus, have you never heard of a footing auger? It's like a drill, except the whole mechanism drills into the ground to basically bolt you to it. I fully support manned missions/colonization to/of other planets and moons. As a matter of fact, Elon Musk of SpaceX says his company will land people on Mars in the very near future. Manned spaceflight isn't dead; it's just getting started.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Armstrong. Now you have no need of a rocket to soar through the heavens, Earth at your back and all of Creation before you.

I support the request of the player above me.

So.. AMD->FirePro 8900 -> Woah. ... Yeah, that's about right. Anyway, if all you see is FX procs, you need to be on Newegg. You might as well build your own comp - it's not hard, just a little time-consuming and you better hope you dusted well.

We had a thread about this acouple of days ago, but I think this game is freakin' awesome. It's been on kickstarter for only 8 days and they've got 2/3rds of the 900,000 they're asking for to make the game. Not "start development". Make. The. Game. I've got a feeling we may hit the second stretch goal or so. Third is entirely possible. Unless I've just jinxed it...

Holy... how did you even get that into orbit?!

Help! How will this computer handle and record KSP?
Warshawski replied to dissen91191's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That's officially what I'd refer to as a "gaming rig". It'll run and record it without a hitch. Probably with heavy stuff running in the background too. -
Not an overall bad design, but I'd say take off the forward swept fin in the back, and remove the parachute. Extra weight is not your friend. I'd say ditch the ASAS, as well. Have you checked to see whether or not your landing gear are all actually even? Usually if it's veering off they're unevenly placed on the airframe.

If the various bits of your laptop are discrete (I.e., seperate and removable, rather than integrated) then yes, yes they are. As long as there's a laptop version of whatever you would stuff into a desktop, and your laptop case can physically hold it, you're gold.

To Mech-Jeb or not to Mech-Jeb, that is the question...
Warshawski replied to Vostok's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I mostly use MechJeb to keep my craft stable, because the KillRot function is sooo much more convenient than babying the SAS/RCS buttons while I try to make orbit. All of my landings are done by hand. -
Wrong. Crappy laptops never will. My Precision 6600 smokes KSP and runs Crysis: Warhead at 60 fps on maximum graphics, and gets the same on Skyrim and BF3.

It kickstarted yesterday, with a funding goal of 900 grand... Today, it has 261 grand. I smell awesomeness in the works. Donating!
-
Good videos revile! Note: The adapters you were looking for are in the Fuel Tanks & Engines tab And the Space Shuttle-like cockpit goes with the Mk 3 Fuselage/parts.

Seriously? Jeebs finds his/her first Mun artifact (maybe their first artifact, period) and instead of a "Good work! Lots of people have found them but it takes quite a bit of work to find them if you don't know where to look!" or something along those lines, you get "annoyed". Well my friend, you have my permission to get over yourself. @Jeebs - good work! I still haven't managed to find one yet, although with my munbase up and running it shouldn't take much longer.

[0.17] RedStar co-op Airplane parts v0.4.1
Warshawski replied to vvaris's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Keep it up! Those plane parts are pretty blasted cool... I think C7 would approve. -
I'm pretty sure someone with the C++ knowhow could probably make a plugin that screws around with the EVAPack and make it more or less powerful.

[PLUGIN, PARTS 0.17] Zoxygene (Life Support) mod v0.7.1 (12.09.27)
Warshawski replied to l00's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I've discovered a small bug... whenever you attach the main Zoxygene tank to literally anything, the game will, upon pressing launch, skip to a little screen with a blue sun-looking thing and never, ever load. -
Dell Precision Mobile Workstation 6600M... 2.6 gHz i5-2640 dual-core proc, 16 gigabytes of 1800 mhz RAM, AMD FirePro 8900 graphics card with 2 gigabytes of GDDR5 memory. Yeah... 50 FPS is far from uncommon.
