First Voyage to Gilly with Updates
Commissioner Tadpole replied to Commissioner Tadpole's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I had switched rocket design to that of Duna 2, the one I used to go to Duna(durr). It's Delta-V is slightly tighter than Gilly Express - 10k, and no matter what I did, I couldn't find a good way to get an Eve intercept, both because of Mün, and because Eve was fleeing from me. -
First Voyage to Gilly with Updates

Unfortunately this mission has to be delayed because I did a miscalculation on the Eve window. In other words, I completely missed it. And I cannot just time warp to the next window, because I'm alterady managing a mission on Duna. Here's a landmark I set on Duna in honor to the failed program: -
You Will Not Go To Space Today - Post your fails here!
Commissioner Tadpole replied to Mastodon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Fails? I've had several! (In case you don't know, the rocket is spinning out of control) Congratulations, you have seen 3/4 of my KSP playthrough. -
I hire you for my space program, and this is what happens on your first flight: My hill.

Oh...sorry, I misunderstood. Anyway, the answer was Gliese 581g, not c.

Alright, I decided to continue this. -
Origin of KSP planetary bodies names
Commissioner Tadpole replied to lajoswinkler's topic in KSP1 Discussion
eng i got an ex dev to reply to me ohgodifeelproud But it kinda stinks that these limitations ruined the Fire Star. And that also explains Moho's description! I hope that later on the devs are able to overcome these limitations and we get a lava-like planet, likely on another star system, if it's implemented. -
Not Laythe, it is from real life. But the parent is indeed a star.

I use HyperEditâ„¢ to cause Deimos to crash at the hill, obliterating you. My crater. No offense taken, though briansun1 never did any of that.

Floor 653: Microgravity. -
Nope, not Gliese 581c.
-
Name of planet? ._.

Gilly Express crashes into the hill, obliterating Spearka. My hill.

I'm assuming the riddle is completed(from Danish's response). If not, please forgive me. Like your homeworld I look. But far away from you I am. Full of water I indeed am, But there is still the possibility of land. Being always locked into facing my parent, One side is always night and the other is always shrouded by daylight. Reach me now you cannot, But who knows, One day, you may hope to reach me. Who am I?

Honestly, since nobody's replying, I'm ditching this series. -
Prequel: Minmus return mission Gone wrong After I restored the Minmus crew to the warm safety of planet Kerbin, there's nothing to prevent me from going to Gilly and break another boundary. The space program alterady reached Mün, Minmus and Duna, it's next goal is naturally Gilly. Since Eve is closer to Kerbin than Duna, it's easier to get there, but since it's insanely hard to take off, we are going to stop on it's friendly neighborhood mun instead. Introducing: the Gilly Express! An obnoxiously large rocket with way more ÃŽâ€V than needed, this one uses parts found rusting in an abandoned hangar not far from here bought from a company which restores outdated rocket parts back to useable conditions, amongside a spherical habitation module enough to support two Kerbals. As you can probably see, it features the widely known Asparagus Staging format using parts from Rockomax Conglomerate, followed by three seperate rocket engines and tanks from Jebediah Kerman's Junkyard, melded together by a tricoupler thanks to O.M.B. Demolition Express. And after that we have narrow rocket towers with three radial tanks and engines, and up above we have the infamous Gilly Lander phase, packing 2,290 ÃŽâ€V, again more than needed to land on Gilly and return to Kerbin. The kerbonauts that will ride this monstrosity are the newly-hired daredevil Anmy Kerman and infamous Archie S. Kerman, the guy who looted the old parts from the abandoned hangar founded the company that salvaged and restored abandoned spaceship parts*. * Not actually, I just changed the parts' manufacturers and descriptions because I didn't liked them. ._. Well, with everything done, we are ready to take off! But.... oh dear... Fail #1: Needs more struts Apparently I have the tendency to think that Kerbal Joint Reinforcement elliminates the need to use struts. After a few moments of thinking, this is what I came up with: And, thankfully, it worked. Here we see the rocket ascending straight up above Kerbin as Archie begins to get worried all the while Anmy is still confident. Unfortunately, things happened. Fail #2: Gravity turn fail As you can see, I made a turn to 270° instead of 90°, and the rocket span further than I intended to. KSP believes this is inacceptable, and will soon crash the rocket. Thankfully I still am blessed with the time clock that lets me go back in time have the Revert Flight button, so that isn't much of a bother....still. >.< Fail #3: Flying Death Trap 7 After I moved the rocket's boosters upwards following the suggestion of an IRC user, the rocket began to spin madly out of control, with Archie panicking and Anmy cluelessy playing 'Hit your chest Donkey Kong style!'. Eventually, after many failures and a ragequit, I had the idea to recycle Duna 2, a rocket I used for my on-going Duna mission(durr) for my Gilly trip. It has no hab. module, or a space for one, but it'll have to do. Of course, since the rocket has a Mk1-2 pod, we'll need another crew member, which is Mildous Kerman. And we have take-off! And that's pretty much it for now. Stay tuned for the next update!

Prequel: That time when a Duna mission goes horribly wrong So, one day I was looking at my first KSP save file, inspecting all locations my space program had set foot on; Doughroll Valley(Mün), Borealis Lake(Minmus), Starshade Valley(Duna), Rolling Hills(Duna), Mt. Roundview's feet(Duna) and Windstorm Plains(Duna). Afterwards, I thought; "Hey...maybe I should go to Gilly. An Eve window is about to arrive, it's proximity to Kerbin makes it easy to reach, and I always wanted to go to Gilly". And so Gilly was confirmed as my next destination. I made the rocket for Gilly and everything, and I was ready to launch until I remembered I left six Kerbals on Minmnus for several days(around 108). They'd pretty much snap(except for Johnlorf and Jebediah, who were constantly happy) if I forced them to stay there for more time, so I decided to send them back to Kerbin. However, the Kraken thought it was the perfect time to strike, and ripped off the Mk1-2 pod out of the ship, taking the ASAS module, solar panels and parachutes with it. The ship was still functional because it had a Mk2 Lander Can AND a MechJeb unit, and the crew that were on the Mk1-2 pod were transferred to the Hitchhiker Container(now I'm glad I did that), but without solar panels, they would have limited time until the batteries supplying the Mk2 lander can's built-in reaction wheels died. Bummer. Regardless, I took the ship into Minmus orbit, and taking one last look at the mint-colored moon, burned Prograde when my rocket was moving retrograde relative to Minmus' orbit, so I would quit Minmus' sphere of influence while having a Periapsis of about 40km. The plan was to use the 10 EVA parachutes packed with the ship to land the Kerbals safely into Kerbin's surface, one at a time. Sounds easy, I know, but unfortunately I learned that deorbiting Kerbals is (much)easier said than done. The plan was scratched. So...without a method of safely landing the rocket in Kerbin's surface and without reaction wheels, the only thing I could think of is to just start the Gilly adventure and leave the Minmus crew to die. So, yeah, end of mission. Farewell, Johnlorf, Doodvan, Jebediah and other Kerbals I cannot remember their names. ... ... !!! An idea popped up in my mind, though that'd require some work on Fate's side. The plan was to pray that, during the Apoapsis, the rocket would be facing Retrograde, and fire the engines to generate some power for the reaction wheels, and then burn until the Periapsis was low enough to perform a full-fledged landing aerobrake at Kerbin. Fortunately, Fate decided to give me a chance and left the rocket facing around 45° away from Retrograde. Not exactly what I hoped for, but that'd work. I burned the engines, then used the Poodle's thrust vectoring feature to spin the rocket into Retrograde. Pressing M, I noticed the Periapsis was now at 9km. A bit lower than I wanted to, but hey, close enough. It was only a matter of time until I reached there. Knowing the batteries would run out again, I used what remained to have the rocket face Prograde, so once it reached Periapsis it would be facing Retrograde. After a couple of in-game hours, the rocket was now aerobraking at Kerbin's atmosphere. It sank deeper and deeper into Kerbin's inner atmosphere, increasing the speed of the aerobrake. Finally, the rocket was just above the perfect landing spot, so I fired the engines Retrograde and moved it to the very top of the NavBall, and began to perform a safe descent, Tylo Style™. After a lot of adrenaline, the rocket landed on a silly pose, but the work was done. Impossible Mission... ACCOMPLISHED!

Hey Brotoro, could you add in a reference to my Kerbal OC, Archie S. Kerman(a guy who founded a company that salvages and restores old, abandoned parts, thanks to this mod)? I don't mind whether one of the characters names an island after him, he appears as a character later on, or if he's just mentioned by the characters, but as long as his appearance/mention isn't offensive I'd be happy, and I'll understand as well if you can't reference him in(though it'd be better if you'd explain why).
