  1. Seems that the scanners don't work as well in 0.24? Trying to scan as normal, below 124km orbit with an active ship and nothing...
  2. OP have you actually achieved any of these other than Kerbin orbit?
  3. Congrats goduranus, you've completed the CSAR Challenge! Very tight and nimble design, speedy too!
  4. My apologies; I was sure I used nothing but stock + mechjeb on the crashed plane which is included in the save file. I will check again and post up if additional mods are needed.
  5. The CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue) Challenge is designed to challenge players to create a plane which is capable of performing in a CSAR role to retrieve downed pilots/kerbalnauts in a non-permissive environment. Your mission is as follows; Take off from the spaceport and retrieve the pilot of a downed recon plane located NNE. Return the rescued pilot to the spaceport. Use this saved game: https://www./?l7vnqplnm20m32t (You will need spaceplane + to be able to load the crashed plane; if you don't have it don't worry the crashed plane is just window dressing, the flag and kerbal are what is key) I have performed this mission with a craft of my own design, here is the video proof: Rules 1. The CSAR craft must be capable of vertical/short take off and landing (V/STOL); 2. The CSAR craft must be capable of traditional "airplane" type flight; 3. Any fuel and engines must be stock; any other parts from any mod may be used otherwise; 4. The CSAR craft must perform a "short take off" when leaving the spaceport; defined as the wheels leaving the runway before travelling halfway down it; 5. Upon arriving at the crash site, the CSAR craft must perform a vertical landing, and a vertical takeoff; 6. When landing at the spaceport the CSAR craft may land traditionally on the strip or in VTOL mode; 7. The CSAR craft must have at least one search light; and 8. The CSAR craft must have a communications antenna. Scoring Score will be determined by your time, lower time = higher score. Ie: A time of 16:17 is 1617 points. Would prefer a video as proof (ie using FRAPS) but will accept a IMGUR album showing all the key events. Kudos 1. I am the Night Rider (Perform the mission at night) (-200 points) 2. Osprey Award (Perform a vertical landing to complete the mission) (-50 points) 3. Ace Pilot (Land within 100m of the "Rescue Beacon") (-100 points) 4. Harrier Award (Use the same engines for vertical and horizontal flight) (-100 points) Signature Pic Complete this challenge and proudly display this image in your signature! Manned Leaderboard 1. Kokanee 1387 points (Osprey Award) Unmanned Leaderboard 1. Goduranus -17 points (Osprey Award, Harrier Award, Ace Pilot, I am the Night Rider)
  6. No worries, I will redo the mission w/ stock parts and kethane mod only, then resubmit under the kethane jool 5 challenge. Thx.
  7. Yes, but from your response I take it I didn't meet the requirements. Tell me where I went wrong and I'll do the mission over np.
  8. Also here is a "Union of Kerbalist Social Rebuplics" Flag for anyone's use;
  9. Tweaked the colours to balance better.
  10. Kerbalnaut transporter loading up kerbals for the flight up to the hotel.
  11. That is pretty ambitious. How many flights you think will be required?
  12. KTO-05 mission complete; Here is the completed orbital hotel; Going to deliver some lifeboats next mission before the tourists get shipped up.
  13. KTO 04: Power module Flying this is starting to get routine; shipped the power module up this mission. First night landing in KSP ever, would have grabbed a shot on the final approach but I didn't want to jinx it.
  14. Next mission KTO 03: Third module to orbit Takeoff and delivery of 3rd hab module to the hotel; now holds 12 kerbals.
  15. Yes, more to follow as I'm running a mission a day right now.
  16. Deuterium engines. Although I have intakes built into the design and a good supply of liquid fuel in case I want to build a variant with jet engines. But I'd prefer not to so I can keep my one class bonus. Should have included a drogue chute for landings but oh well...
  17. If you know a student you can get the complete Adobe CS 6 suite for pretty cheap.
  18. My entry for this challenge; Going with a single class of SSTO for this challenge; the "Kalasnikov" class SSTO. Traditional spaceplane type SSTO, able to carry payload to orbit in the cargo bay, or transport 24 kerbalnauts (+2 crew) via the command chairs mounted along the walls of the bay. This is a concept I borrowed from the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III which I've had the "pleasure" of riding in on a few occasions for long hauls into and out of sandy places. Here's the mission plan so far; KTO 01: First hotel module in orbit <Complete> KTO 02: Second hotel module in orbit <Complete> KTO 03: Third module in orbit KTO 04: Power module in orbit KTO 05: Refueling module in orbit KTO 06: First batch of space tourists to "Holiday Orbit Express" (12 kerbals) After that I'll see about bases on Minimus and the Mun.
  19. Neat approach; makes sense although I understand the issues you had regarding vehicle balancing better now...Might I ask what program you are using to capture your videos?
  20. Not to accuse anyone of anything, but how come throughout that video your fuel status does not change, even though you are performing multiple transfers between planets?
