Yeah I think it would have done that had thi craft not been so heavy, and on Eve it was even heavier due to the gravity (I think). Either way there is always next time I guess
-
I normally do, but this was more of a test that went on to the next phase. Originally it was to test how the craft loaded/launched, then moved into orbit transfer stage of testing since it was going well. Of then Eve was in nearly the right angle to get an encounter... However the SAS system should go into either an off state or idle (normal SAS function) when a craft is at 0m/s in surface mode, much like it does if out close out the maneuver while you are locked onto it shuts off SAS when this is done. Now that I know that it does this I will make sure to turn it back to its idle state before anything else, just one more pre-launch check list item to take into consideration is all.

I have encountered a problem with the new SAS system, and it can be very costly and silly if not you are paying attention. I was testing an Eve lander and return craft and finally gotten it down to thee surface without issue, and then I went to take off to see if it could get into orbit and things went from awesome to terribad. I had left the follow retrograde active at the time of landing (had an important phone call while the craft was in reentry so I turned it on to help steady). As the Craft went up it started to pitch over to find the retrograde marker, and.....well....I had to revert back to the VAB because I had forgotten where, or if, I had quicksaved. On the bright side I did answer three of the four questions I had: First would it launch, second would it to Eve, and third would it land safely. Sadly the fourth, and most important, question has yet to be answered; will there be pie after returning from Eve? ......the world may never know......
-
Something his would better used as a landing aid in a way, it could show the terrain below your craft to see if you are landing on land or water (especially when using a cloud mod over Eve). But as a nav ball it is fairly in accurate, however if you know the difference between the north pole and south pole, in terms of shape, I guess it could work.

Editing The Staging Sequence In Flight: Exploit Or Not?
Liowen replied to Torquemadus's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well NASA testes booster on the ground and then in unmanned mission, but it costs them a ton of money. So I guess if you do not want to recover the pieces of the craft it would make it more real, less enjoyable in some respects but closer to real life. -
So Christmas (errr Kristmas) came early for the employees at KSC! Now to just figure out who will be the first lucky, forced, volunteer to be the, victim, test pilot. It also makes my PC a bit unhappy while loading....

I have found myself call asteroids planets..... yeah I am not sure why either.

Want to go to Eve and back? Try this.
Liowen replied to Redshift OTF's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I just landed this on Eve about an hour ago, and would have gotten it in orbit.......had I not had it locked on retograde. Redshift would you mind if I use this in my go everywhere series, full credit for the design of the ship of course. The only mods I mad to the craft was launch clamps (because exploding launch pads are a thing), one more set of landing wheels, and hotkeying the brakes and deployment of landing gear on the chute key. It was an awesome flying fuel station, but it was just so Kerbal . -
Made a little Christmas card for everyone, maybe if it gets enough views I will make another one of planting the "tree" somewhere.
-
OMG I have forgotten what the TWR is to lift off of EVE and how much deltV is needed. I loaded up my old attempt at a lander in .90......and well bad things happened. UGH I hate when I take long breaks I forget a lot of stuffs

Can we get some new music or something?
Liowen replied to Frostiken's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
You forgot the phantom cow while sitting on the space center screen. The music is fine to me, normally I have it nearly muted while I play. I do agree though the birds must be freakin huge to give out that much noise. I am sure there will be more sounds added in as they near final release, I wouldn't be surprised if Chatter gets put in some form as well. -
Not to my knowledge, but you can physics warp* while running to speed it up. *Use with caution!
-
You'll get there just don't get discouraged by set backs. I have to pickup career mode since .25, I figured a break was needed and I wanted to hit every planet/moon before going back to career mode.

Decided that my trip to every body in the solar system needed something special for Mun and Minmus, so I brought back something from the past of mine. It is the Lunar Tour Bus or rather it was as it now has a new name now the Lunar Tour Tower. I may add a few more pods to it to make it hold close to 40 Kerbals, right now it holds 34, and this one features docking, though it will not have RCS of its own as it will be docked to something rather than trying to dock it to something (makes sense I hope.). It is 99.6 tons and about 197 parts with batteries stored in the SAS parts, something I have started doing more of in recent crafts. And yes I do plan to fill the whole thing up with Kerbals and have them land on Mun, with the hope I will not have one randomly explode this time. Oh and the Christmas tree is still out LOL (Video will be coming Monday for that I think).

Really just 1/100000'th an ant, but they feel real.
Liowen replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I remember when I lost 32 when I failed to land the "Lunar Tour Bus" safely back on Kerbin. I did a video and had their names scroll before the start of it, it originally had taps playing but it got flagged but I do still have the original one with the music. I may have to try and redesign the Lunar Tour Bus now that I have gotten a bit better at designing things since building that, but I will never forget the 32.......well I may not recall ALL their names but I remember how many. -
Thanks. I need to record it though since the aviation lights really cannot be done justice. I want to put it on the VAB, but I do not know the latitude and longitude of it off hand .

KSP taught me the basics of orbital mechanics, and then...
Liowen replied to godefroi's topic in KSP1 Discussion
What has always amazed me is that the computers on board the Apollo missions were about as high tech as a hand held calculator, it is kind of frightening knowing that it was more of a fly by your seat than what we have today. -
I put a menorah on Mun, since there is too much smoke on the launch pad. And Bill, Bob, and Jeb (from left, center, and right) set up their Tinker tree and were amazed by the blinking lights, well except Bob who had a seizure....
-
I started making some Christmas-ie things for some reason. My tree looks better when it is flashing but here is a pic anyways, I still have one other thing I want to make yet though. I will have a video of things once I am sure they look good, might be done by Spring LOL.

The main thing I feel is the real issue is with what players want, they want the game to be tailored to them and not others. Using the aerodynamic model argument some say it needs to be changed, personally if it gets changed I would hope that it is an optional thing that players can choose to use or not. Not everyone uses FAR, NEAR, ect and enjoys the game thy are playing, and thinking that they are enjoying it wrong is just dumb (no soft way to put it really). Given the choice it would be better to leave the aerodynamic model as with ability to mod it than to restructure parts of the game to make it work, let people who want to mod it do so since the mod already works for those that want it. I know I will get flack for this and that is fine since I do not believe I am any more right than those who preach about the aerodynamic model needing to be changed, the difference I am not afraid to admit that fact where they are not.
-
I feel there should be an in between capsule from the single seat version and three man, I know there is the two man can but no pod with the same crew range. While your original post was about career mode I believe this is needed in the game in general, but for career mode it would have to go in between the single and triple manned pods.

How to stop the wobble in larger ships
Liowen replied to workerbee's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
If it is a matter of it shifting after it has been docked you might have one SAS unit, or many, that are 180 degrees, or less, out of alignment; basically up is down to that section so you are fighting motion. Navyfish's docking adapter helps with this, but you could disable different SAS modules to see if it helps. a few degrees off is not bad, but 30 or more seems to be where the problem starts. What I would like to see is maybe a mod that realigns the SAS modules so they are all in line once docked. -
I would like to see something for Laika the Soviet space dog, it is a bit different but still would be nice to make some reference to her. While it would be nice to have them in game I still would like the focus to stay on the game first before branching off.
-
I wish I would have seen this earlier >< I just spent a long time doing each tank one at a time.
-
You can also hit the button next to the target lock and then close the node that way, it won't turn off SAS if done like this. It did scare the heck out of me when I first had it happen since I still had 50% of the burn to go.
