Today I took my transfer/rescue craft up to the station on my testing save to deliver struts and a new crew member to the station, more so to make sure it could make it to the station without a problem. While it did get up there without a problem it did take more fuel due to the wait of the extra struts and container to haul up there, and maybe the extra crew member added in more weight to the craft as well. Docking was a breeze for this small craft, but a bit disorienting as the docking port is under the cockpit. Now all that is left is to grab the stranded Kerbal in orbit and return to Kerbin.

So I guess people should adjust their play style to please you then? I mean it is not like their enjoyment is that important or anything....right?

Today I did something that I do not think I have done in a very very long time, I crashed my probe.........on Minmus. For some reason I had felt the mission was doomed to fail, but I was expecting it to happen much sooner. I did however get the three parts test around Mun I had added to the probe completed, but this is where things went from ok to not ok. The parts tested fine but when I went to decouple the ion engine (another test part) it blew out my orbital telescope, although I did not notice it until I was nearing Minmus. Then as I went to decouple my booster stage from my landing stage the throttle jumped back up one tick and remained on, and for some odd reason that I cannot explain when I staged the separation it did not decouple, it did not fire the engine, but it did activate the parachutes that were one stage higher. I could have jumped back to a quick had I remembered to set one at some point during this time frame, but I had not done so and was afraid of how far back it would actually take me. So I accepted the 30,000+ fund loss as a punishment for trying to do more than I should have with the Minmus probe, and will launch a more focused mission back there soon. .....Think I will take the day off now LOL

Today, well at midnight so it counts, I put a solar array on to my station to provide enough of a recharge state during the daylight to top off the batteries after a night of producing food, water, and oxygen. I would have made it with the giant panels, but I currently do not have them unlocked so this is the temporary charging station. next up is to use the shuttle craft to deliver the first vict.....errr volunteer to the station and pickup the Kerbal who is stranded in space. Oh and my probe to Minmus is nearing Mun, yes that is the long way but I had a couple of contracts I wanted out of the way while going in that general direction.

I tweaked this idea some to make a crew delivery/rescue craft, I needed something that could fill both roles and was moderately cheap. The major tweak is adding on the crew can add different cockpit, the intake is really only on there to serve as a heatshield, since I am running DE, for the chutes. I had this with apogee of 80km before flaming out, could have gone higher had I not throttled back so far I think. The SSTO I had wanted to use is too far into the techtree to be used right away, but with this I get to the space station drop off a crew member and go pick up the rescue mission before heading home... at least that is the plan I have.

I like the 7 engine cluster, but how would it look with 3 LV-T45 in the center? It would still give the vectoring of the 30's, but give it more straight line punch.

The Career-motivator -- The SCIENCE System
Liowen replied to SkyRex94's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
In someways this sounds fun, but in other ways it would feel kind of forced also. While I do agree the current system needs some attention it should also not force players to play a certain way to gain things, that would defeat the open-endedness of the game as a whole. More biomes would be one thing that should, and most likely will, be added at some point, and a rebalance of the science tree and science points as a whole (I thought I saw this part in the .25 thing but could be wrong). The player should use there imagination while playing more than letting the game tell them how to play, at least this is how I feel anyways. I like the idea of the big dish having a point, but on the same not look right on certain crafts either. If I am forced to use one on long distant missions I will just leave an antenna off completely than have something that does not fit the look I want, which means that changing the rules of antenna's was a moot point (unless you are force to have it on there to do missions beyond Kerbin's SOI then it is just forcing a player to use a part for the sake of using it). As I see it players should make their own rules as to what to do and when, and not worry what this player or that player did to get x part faster. Even in my new save I have yet to get to Minmus, in fact my first probe is on its way there now. In the mean time I have done a probe landing on Mun (with only a few bits of science), a manned Mun mission, a high orbit Kerbin satellite, a rescue, and started work on my space station (the first of many). I do limited contracts to keep my funds in check and I try hard not to muck things up too bad, and even made a rule that goo and mat bays cannot be transmitted they have to either be returned or collected and returned. Once you force players to play a certain way it becomes less open world and more linear, from what I read anyways. A lot of the problem is caused by players wanting to be "first" to get to a goal, in this case we will use the techtree, in order to provide how good they are, to me this would seem rather boring if this how one measures being good at a game. To me to be good at a game is to have fun and not rush through the enjoyment of the game, not "oh I did the whole thing in two launches". -
If you're throttled up more than me, wave as you go by!

There is this mod called Android that could fix that Apple sticker see...... -
I have to agree with this statement. If you enjoy doing something in the game then do it, or mod it so you can. Likewise if you do not enjoy something like this don't worry about, or if it is an in game feature you do not like...like the aerodynamic model..... then use a mod to make it more fun for you. At the end of the day if you are not having fun with a game then what is the point in playing it?

My current Eve lander is in the ballpark of 300 parts, and while it does not lag me out yet it does have an interesting side effect when I leave the VAB. Upon going to the KCS screen with the lander still loaded I am zoomed all the way in between the VAB and research building, however if I hit new and then exit it is fine. I have yet to build the launcher for this or add in heat shields so the part count is only going to go up, and then add in the tug/return craft to the mix I have a feeling my PC will not be kind to me.
-
Well it does until you have more than one process running, then it fractionalizes them.....or so my understanding goes. Some of it also has to do with TAC consumption rate changes. Also that should be I am making food and water but losing oxygen, not sure why I keep posting it wrong today.
-
Yeah I think one of the modules is running at about 38% so more crew is in order, I would check but I am rendering a video atm and heading out once it is done. Luckily it does not consume things while the game is off LOL.
-
Today I docked my Habitation ring and another container can, this one for ls making supplies, to The Watch Tower. Now I am making food and water, but losing water in the process (I think because I do not have enough Kerbals to run the processes). More crew will arrive soon to help produce things faster, and prepare for more modules that will arrive in the future.

Universal Storage 1.4.0.0 (For KSP 1.4.x) 13th March 2018
Liowen replied to Paul Kingtiger's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
One thing you might want to update in the pack is the MM, there is an updated version of it 2.3.4 out now. -
Wait until you try to land/hover onto Gilly, it is so painful if you are high above Gilly. I would suggest watching a 3 Lord of the Rings movie in the extended cut versions, that might be just enough filler until you are near the ground of Gilly.

[1.3.0] Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.3.0 (2017-05-28)
Liowen replied to cybutek's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This might not be possible to do but I figured I would ask and see. Is it possible to have a setting to show a maneuver burn time after reentering the game/quicksave restore? I can figure it out by hand (within a couple of seconds anyways) but I have always wanted a way to do this without having to guesstimate, or is that just a limitation of the game itself? I think I have looked through all the different settings but maybe I missed it, it would not be the first time. Thanks for an help either with or about this. -
I have to agree, and have been thinking of just making my own from structural parts. It would be somewhat like the ones I used as landing legs on my Eve lander project seen here at 10077. While not the pretties things in the world they are effective for the cause, however I think I might have to use beams and not the cube parts like I am currently. I actually had a rocket slip out of the "stability" enhancers upon loading the launch pad, it loaded and fell off (kind of funny to watch).
-
That looks awesome and I agree about the tall landers they seem overly tip happy, however if you can get the landing gear to be you wide enough it might counter balance it some. Since there are no hinged parts in stock it is left to making ones the stick out some made from structural parts, or putting a ton of standard landing gear on the craft (unless a mod has a better alternative of course.).
-
So at the advice of "needs moar boosters" I add on a set of 6 small SRB's that give me a TWR of 1.40 at launch (with the Eve setting in KER at VAB), and I also decided to tackle the landing gear today as well. I know the stock gear tends to flex even if it is locked, so those were a no go. I then decided to go with a structural support setup I had used for a Mun tour bus (I think I used these or a variation of them) and they survived fairly well landing back on Kerbin, so they should work for Eve....I hope. And they even detach at launch! Next up chutes and chute release setup, and of course the launch system. Although for the launch system I was thinking of just launching into orbit and refuel it once it is up there, but that means keeping the SRB's and all through the whole launch. Still more planning though, but getting closer everyday.
-
I am so jacking those and spin them as fast as I can during launch LOL.
-
Arran what kind of temps are you running at, while your system might have the resources needed to run it could be a buildup of heat cause a memory glitch. Less likely your power supply might need to be changed, or at the very least clean of dust. I would make sure you do not have dust built up causing a breathing issue, I had an issue with an old pc of mine combined with ash made for a very bad combo. If nothing else it never hurts to clean out the pc from time to time anyways.

Yeah the seat idea is not an option with life support and deadly reentry. I may put 4 of the midsize srb's on it as well, but I am not sure about the weight so maybe the smaller ones would be the better route. I am also thinking of doing something like I did with my old Mun tour bus and just build my own, then I can put more heat shields on it hopes of getting on the ground. The reaction wheels are there to stop the swaying while staging, although I might get rid of the center one since I have a vectoring engine. I also had winglets on there but took them off, if I do put them on I will still have one control wheel in the center, again to help stay steady while staging. I may work on those tomorrow though as the engine clusters were a pain to pipe in a semi logical order. I am trying to get to 1.2 twr for Eve but that is a hefty goal I think, but I will not give up without a fight (or cussing and swearing). Thanks for the ideas, I will keep them in mind as I smash my keyboard some more LOL

No matter how you sliced it you have won at the better game...the one of life! +Rep sir +rep indeed

Wait....wait...wait You will take the time to figure out your bill and count stairs, but taking a couple of seconds to rotate a piece to line up is too much trouble?? All I can say....no the only emoticon I can use is this
