  1. Nassault? Did you get my PM about my song? I've been waiting as patiently as possible If so, whaddaya think? (Because this is, indeed, the Post KSP Pictures Thread, I'm going to post a picture now.) Please reply, either with a PM or with a regular post. Please...
  2. Thanks! This actually brings me to a question. The Dragon looks cool enough... but how does it fly? I think I'm too used to its quirks to provide an accurate judgement... If y'all have the spare time, can you give me some feedback about the Dragon's performance in the air? I'm detecting a little instability that would maybe be fixable, if I knew what was causing it. It shows up at high speeds, and when pitching up or down a lot. Once again, thanks for all of the +Rep, the nice comments and the suggestions! I really love your feedback... the Forum is such a great place.
  3. Ah, Britain. What a terrible way to go... losing their first two matches, so quickly. (sigh)
  4. This is a good point, and one that I have not yet mentioned. Once the bug is set up, you can delete the entire assembly and then begin to build another rocket. As long as the symmetry mode doesn't snap back to 1x symmetry, like it sometimes does (AUGH! So annoying!) you're good to go. I would recommend placing Cubic Octagonal Struts or some other lightweight, low-profile part on the craft with 5x symmetry. That way, if you want to use other symmetry modes or if the game resets to 1x symmetry, you can reestablish the 5x symmetry with a minimum of effort. Glad to see that my idea's being used.
  5. As I wasn't able to enter the Kerbal Cup in time, I'm making my own little team... Introducing... Blinded with Science! ...is it all right if I have my own little thread on the General Discussion? I don't claim to be doing anything official, nor do I have any intention of beating any other team. I'm just doing this to show my responses to this excellent challenge idea.
  6. Hello everyone! This is the page for my unofficial Kerbin Cup team... Blinded with Science Here, you will find my build logs, my thoughts and ideas on the Kerbin Cup, and plenty of Science. Also, as I'm not a "real" team, I can post all of these things without violating the Forum Gods' rules! So, good for me. FIRST CHALLENGE: TROPHY MAKING! I should note here that I'll be on the East Coast, away from my KSP computer, until Saturday morning, so I may miss the boat on this challenge. That being said... [initial ideas] I'm actually farther along than I should be for this one, as I have (more or less) successfully created a Kerbal model in the game already. It's not quite the quality of the Dragon in my signature (go check it out if you haven't already), but it's certainly recognizable, and it will do well as the base of my trophy. The exterior's made with Structural Panels, but the interior is mostly girders. Also, the head's a 2.5m fuel tank. The model can currently stand upright but it's a little wonky with its mass balance, and would tip over easily if transported somewhere. (My initial plans are to leave him on the top of the VAB, so that all of the little Kerbals can gaze up and be awestruck. ) I'm thinking of also adding some lights, both to color the Kerbal and to illuminate his surroundings at night. Overall, the model's fairly well-made but missing a face... so it's a little Slender-Kerb-ish. I'll be posting the pictures on Saturday... and then I'll work more on the design to make it appropriately Kerbal Cup-ish. [/initial ideas] If you have any questions about the construction of the basic Kerbal model, please ask! I'll try to answer them from memory the best that I can. ~~~ EDIT #1 Here's the model that I'm using. I know that I missed the deadline, so I'm just going to make some minor modifications and then get ready for the next challenge... Of course, it wasn't originally built for the Cup, so it's not a perfect match. I still think that with a little polishing, it could obtain a standard of quality higher than that of some of the Redditeers' Kerbal models. So, that's nice. I still wish that I could have built this a bit better, for the sake of the Cup. Ah, well. ~~~ Sorry in advance if I reserve this post a lot... General KSP Discussion has a habit of quickly burying unattended threads. oh, and no graffitis pls
  7. I'm so tough, I've created floating-point errors in real life. ... Welcome to the Small Stained Porcelain Cup Filled with Halite Crystals, how tough are you?
  8. Croatia just obliterated Cameroon 4-0... I actually feel really bad for Cameroon. Heh. The refs do, sometimes seem to be a little biased in their decisions. Good find.
  9. I've seen Brazil play much better... I've seen Mexico play much worse. It was pretty obvious though, that Brazil was the better team (IMHO). They just couldn't get their act together and shoot the ball past the Mexican goalie, who did a really top-notch job.
  10. I honestly don't think, in spite of what NASA says, that "Angry Birds" in space will teach anyone anything much. Sure, there are some things that it does right... but there are some really notable physics errors that uninformed players will also "learn." I was disappointed when the game was first released, and seriously irritated when I learned that NASA had an Angry Birds exhibit in their museum. (sigh) KSP is a really good way of teaching about rocket science, although the learning curve is definitely steeper and some people would find it less fun. Still, though, there's no reason why NASA can't back KSP the way it has backed Angry Birds. KSP is more accurate, has more achievements, and most importantly, the aim of KSP is to build physically correct contraptions, not to kill ovoid green pigs. To quote Marja Kottinen (at the bottom of the original post's article): "Our partnership [with NASA] has blended entertainment and education, which has been enjoyed by millions of people worldwide ... It really has been a fun and unique way of showing just how fascinating NASA's scientific missions are." [emphasis added] If you're trying to make a scientific and educational game, please don't make the science secondary to killing green pigs and knocking over structures made of glass and wood. Please put the science at the heart of the game, where it will be most appreciated, and where it can actually teach people things. ok I'm done now
  11. *BOOP* Mars is fun, and conspiracy theories somehow never make it to the mainstream. Press for infinite wisdom, but no one believes you.
  12. Sadly, there's only four people per team, and the teams have closed registration. Sorry. (I would have joined a team too.) Anyway, Team Jedi is one of the teams that I am confident will deliver Quality Designs. (I'm also rooting for Team I Think We Broke It.) Best of luck to all of the Kerbal Cup teams!
  13. Negatory. I only play KSP, Minecraft, and some other, smaller games. The user below me is interested in soccer/football.
  14. Personally, I'm a fan teams other than the US winning, just because... I know I'm generalizing, but I think that a lot of other countries around the world would appreciate a World Cup victory far more than Americans. Honestly, I don't know who I'm rooting for. But watching people play the world's favorite pastime is a good thing to do for me.
  15. Hooray for copyright avoidance! But it's not just the Kerbal Kup... it's the Kerbal Kup! I still think that it's not the best name, but ah well.
  16. Not yet... wait a few minutes. When space, does science?
  17. I would love to see this. Even if I can't participate in the real Kerbal Cup, this would be a great alternative. Make it so, please!
  18. We've got a healthy thread going about the Kerbal Cup... but what about the real World Cup?! This is a thread talking about the World Cup, and the teams that are taking part in it! (Food for thought: Brazil just tied with Mexico, what does this mean for the teams?) One note: Please no "Soccer or Football?" linguistic discussions.
  19. Hello once again, Individuals! Two days after I made this thread, I forgot that it existed, so there's a new video up! In this video, I continue my construction of tiny VTOLs with an (admittedly somewhat poor) design! But that wasn't the real point of the video. I want to hear what y'all want me to do with this channel. Should I make the videos longer? Add more text? Study bugs, continue making VTOLs, or construct large and grand ships? Incidentally, my feedback on my YouTube channel suggests that VTOLs are cool, but making larger-scale craft and/or military craft and/or observing more bugs would be nice. I'll give you the suggestions that made the cut... in the next video! Your opinion is appreciated (gib suggestion pls )
  20. Good day, sir! Welcome to the Forums, I hope you like what you find here.
  21. The poll is showing up for me... Ah, I wish that presidential candidates adressed their platform issues in all caps, with many exclamation points. I also wish that every single one of their platform issues was about space. "BARACK OBAMA: WANTS TO REDIRECT AN ASTEROID INTO LOW EARTH ORBIT!!!!" or something like that. That being said, I almost want Bill to be president. Jeb's campaigning on a solid platform, but he's a bit too BadS for the presidency. Bob's a wimp, and Adgas doesn't have a solid platform, though I like his campaign strategy. I'm looking forwards to the eventual vote. Who will win this epic presidential race?
  22. Ya know what? I'll fill out any team space that's empty, if there still is one after the dust settles. I'm not a picky guy, and I think that I could be a valuable addition to the team of your choice. I know that time's technically up, but SQUAD never seems on time for anything, so I hope that I'll still be capable of qualifying.
  23. H'm. I'm away from my computer for the next week (will be back Saturday), will this eliminate me from the first round of the competition? I would hate to join, then immediately die without posting a single valid entry.
