Brilliant! Sure beats the ejection seat in the jet I just posted (aesthetically, at least)! What's the part count? This seat merged with my operable canopy would make one hell of a cockpit! If the part count's not ridiculous, I will do just that. Again, well done!

What! i can't give you rep:mad: love it though! very outside of the box!

Hello everyone, Here is fun 100% stock fighter jet I made! Features - "real" cockpit: Kerbal actually climbs in, no "press 'f' to board" - working canopy: opens and closes using landing legs. secured with klaw - ejection seat: when the fit hits the shan, press 'abort' to pop the canopy and eject you Kerbal to safety (parachute included) - 3 harpoints under each wing and missile rails on the wingtips: standard version comes with 2 drop tanks (more than quadruples the flight time), 2 guided missiles, 4 unguided bombs (two per hard point), and 2 unguided rockets) -large rover wheels: give rear landing gear scale appearance and motorized taxiing ability Part count: 308 clean Part count: 422 w/ standard payload configuration (bombs, missiles, drop tanks, rockets) The main goal was to build an aircraft with a working ejection seat, just as a proof of concept. However, the jet ended up looking really good, and flying really well too. Not to mention all the other cool features. So I thought I'd share it with y'all. This jet isn't really based off of any specific real-world design. I just kind of threw it together, and it turned out really well. It flies beautifully, and has no problem getting into the air, even when fully loaded. Hope you enjoy, and let me know what you think! GATOR Download HERE

Not bad! Needs bigger vertical stabs though. And as for the number of seats, each generation of the jet was built with a single seat variant and a two seat variant. The majority of f/a-18s active in the fleet are single seat, while their two seat counterparts are more favored by the marine corps. Sorry, as a pilot, I get a little nitpicky when it comes to aircraft replicas:P good job though! This forum needs more naval aircraft replicas!

Krusher-class Carrier w/ W-42 Interceptors
gGATORr replied to gGATORr's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Why thank you! Yea, I have that problem sometimes on my Macbook too. Just go to your SPH and create a ship that's made of one piece and save it. Then copy the entire text from the downloaded .craft.txt file. Then go into ksp_osx>saves>[your save]>ships>SPH and open (with textedit) the .craft file of the ship you just made. Then delete all the text and replace it with the text you had copied from the download file. Then save, reopen KSP, and enjoy! -
Thank you to everyone who suggested names for this ship! While there were some really great suggestions, I decided to stick to my first inclination. Therefore, I present to you: the Gladius-class Battleship ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To compensate all of you for not using any of your suggested names, I'm opening up a new naming "competition" here on this same thread for the ship that the Gladius-class is based off of. Also, as a little extra treat, here's a small excerpt from the project I'm working on that gives a little background on this ship: "Originally designed as a massive cruise ship for "out-of-this-world" vacations, this ship would have been the largest of it's kind. However, with the instability caused by constant skirmishes in the outer colonies, space tourism suffered a sharp decline, leading to the abandonment of the project. Desperately seeking a new weapon to combat [censored], the [censored] bought the design. Strengthening the hull and installing weapons and military hardware gave rise to what is now the largest and deadliest ship in the fleet. The Gladius-class Battleship. Official reports say that the original manufacturer scrapped the project before any construction began, but whispered rumors from orbital colonies tell of a silent leviathan with no crew slowly tracing endless circles through the darkness of space, multi-colored lights twinkling in false merriment..." So for this ship, I'm actually looking for a specific name; not a class. After reading the excerpt above, let me know what name you think is appropriate for this secretly-built, abandoned cruise ship. GATOR

I'd be happy to take a look at it! Feel free to send me some screenshots or the .craft file
-
I would normally completely agree with you and CDR Jeb. However, for reasons I'll keep to myself for now, I'm looking for a specific class name, as the individual ship names aren't very relevant for what I'm doing. (These three capital ships I've posted recently are just a small part of what I'm doing:wink:) Oh, and thanks for the compliment! I'm sure you'll be building ships better than this in no time!
-
My god, it's the legendary giant space tuna!
-
Is that a suggestion for my ship, or ScriptKitt3h's?
-
Not too shabby! Especially for being your first "warship"! I agree with Redshift, though. More pictures. Coincidentally, I'm currently working on a very similarly purposed ship for my own fleet. Only difference is mine's gonna be a bit... bigger:wink: EDIT: Also, what's the part count?
-
These ships look good! I love the subtle Star Wars inspiration on each design. Except for the y-wing; that's not subtle, its just a y-wing haha. But again, it looks really good! The Gladius heavy fighter, eh? I wonder where you got that name...
-
Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions so far, guys! 100% stock The original design was lined bow to stern with those adjustable waist guns, but it caused the part count to skyrocket:( Though my destroyer does have a full starboard broadside compliment. But I haven't released that yet;)

Krusher-class Carrier w/ W-42 Interceptors
gGATORr replied to gGATORr's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Thank you everyone for the name suggestions! After careful consideration, I have decided that Jackvony's suggestion (slightly shortened) for the carrier name and ZodiaK's suggestion for the fighters win! Thanks and congratulations to you two!(+rep) So without further ado, I present to you: the Krusher-class Carrier and the W-42 Interceptor For those of you that have more names that you think are fitting for a space-faring warship, check out this SPACE BATTLESHIP and leave me a suggestion! Thanks to everyone who participated for this ship! -
Hello again ladies and gents, Here, have a space battleship! It's BIG It's BAD and it looks cool as hell! Features: -Forward rocket batteries -Aft missile launchers -Semi-aimable waist guns (capable of firing independently) Forward firing position Aft firing position Middle firing position Size comparison with the Python-class Combat Command Ship Blasting said Python with the port waist gun Part count: 773 I didn't even try to fly this thing into orbit (though I'm sure it's possible with infinite fuel) The biggest and baddest of my fleet so far, this battleship is manned by a crew of 124 Kerbals. Like my other ships, the goal was to have something epic with a low* part count (*relatively). Unlike my other ships, I actually have an idea for a name! I think Gladius-class is fitting due to the shape of the hull. (looks like the ancient roman sword, called a "gladius") However, I'll still leave it open to suggestions for a couple days. So let me know what name you think this beast deserves! And let me know what you think about the ship in general! For more pictures, check out the album below: DOWNLOAD Enjoy! GATOR If you haven't already, check out my Krusher-class Carrier

Last chance to suggest a name for this carrier and its fighters! I'll be deciding the winners tomorrow. -
Krusher-class Carrier w/ W-42 Interceptors
gGATORr replied to gGATORr's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
The original design actually did have engines mounted up on the bridge, but it looked kinda goofy so I scrapped it. If you find something that works and looks good, let me know! -
Krusher-class Carrier w/ W-42 Interceptors
gGATORr replied to gGATORr's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I like it! Very compact. Yet quite deadly by the looks of it. It would be a hell of a lot of fun to fly one of those off my carrier parked in orbit, take out a target on Kerbin's surface, then fly it back to the carrier. Maybe I'll give it a shot when my fleet building fever subsides... -
Krusher-class Carrier w/ W-42 Interceptors
gGATORr replied to gGATORr's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Probably. What happened was, I had the CoM and CoT lined up pretty well with the hangar empty. Then I added the fighters, but never adjusted the CoT. -

Hmmmm... Perhaps I will when the fleet is complete. There's plenty more to come -

Thanks for all the positive feedback and creative names, everyone! Keep 'em coming! seems like a warhammer reference... Can you provide a link? I couldn't find said "knife" class. and the missiles are on the underside of the SAS "wings" nothing makes me happier than others getting enjoyment from destroying my creations:D Yup, you got it yea, with the CoM and CoT so far apart, it's nearly impossible to line them in the SPH. Feel free to mess around with thrust limiters and/or add engines to get it right. Or try throttling up slowly so that the SAS can counter it. -
I'll leave that for you to do. I enjoy building the ships more than actually flying them (although I do enjoy blowing them up quite a bit). And I was lazy for the second one, and just launched it vertically:P Hooray indeed! Well done! For those of you that have more names that you think are fitting for a space-faring warship, check out this space carrier and leave me a suggestion! Thanks to everyone who participated for this ship!

Hello everyone, Next up in my line of military style space ships is one I'm very proud of, and have had a lot of fun building and playing with. Unfortunately, I have no idea what to call this bad boy, so that's where you come in! Check out the pictures and suggest a name in the comments below. I present to you... [insert name here]-class Carrier! This behemoth is the cutting edge in space-faring carriers. Carries three umm..... help me name these fighters too! With plenty of clearance on each of the 4 hangar doors, exiting and entering the carrier is a breeze. And fighter escorts just look cool. Especially in space! Oh, and these fighters are locked and loaded with four high-velocity missiles. 100% stock Part count: 497(w/ fighters) ; 419(w/out fighters) This ship is capable of flying into orbit (with infinite fuel), but it's a pain in the ass because most of the body is composed of wing parts, giving it extremely wonky flight characteristics. I recommend save file editing. As with my Combat Command and Transport Ships, the goal for this project was to make something big and bad-ass looking without a massive part count. Not only does it look bad-ass, but it's tons of fun to play around with. And if you don't like the fighters I built, it's simple to replace them with your own design. If you have any suggestions for a name/classification for this ship or the fighters it carries, let me know in the comments below! Also, let me know what you think about the ship in general! For more pictures, check out the album below: DOWNLOAD Hope you enjoy! GATOR

LOVE Halo! The ship was built with no particular inspiration. However, that cutscene is exactly what inspired my lift off method:D Good catch!
