  1. Thanks! I'm assuming you meant a torus? If so, here you go. It was actually one of the first stations I built with these parts.
  2. Very well done aesthetically! I'm sure they fly well too!
  3. I like it! It looks like the front end of a Eurofighter Typhoon slapped on a Cylon Raider!
  4. Unfortunately, this idea doesn't seem very popular, so I'll just share the rest of the modules I have, and be done with this project. So here you go: The Practicality Pack This pack includes: - hallway powerplant - hallway powerplant (reduced part count) - endcap powerplant (reduced part count) - 4m hallway w/ living compartments - fuel storage module - airlock - hangar w/ airlock - command center - escape pod airlock: closed open command center empty (w/ escape pods in background) manned escape pod sample base Hopefully a couple people enjoyed this! I sure had a lot of fun making it and playing with it! I doubt I'll ever settle for a regular boring space station again. Anyway I think it's time I returned to Kerbin's atmosphere... GATOR
  5. Exploring the corridors of hollow space stations using a pack of subassemblies I've released on this thread. Check it out, it's tons of fun!
  6. These crafts you're putting out are very impressive! Good work!
  7. Hello fellow KSP-ers! It seems I have finally slipped the surly bonds of earth... I mean, Kerbin! Having been exclusively and utterly engrossed in atmospheric aircraft building, I have completely shifted gears in order to bring to you something that I have wanted since the beginning of my KSP experience: hollow, more interactive pieces with which to build space stations and orbital bases. So, without further ado, I present to you a pack of base module subassemblies that fit together easily to create beautiful and interactive space stations for your Kerbals to explore! This first pack, The Basic Building Pack, contains basic structural and necessary modules in order to have an operational and extraordinary space base. This pack includes: -90 degree corner -60 degree corner -45 degree corner -30 degree corner -endcap -powerplant endcap -viewport endcap -2m hallway -4m hallway -8m hallway -12m hallway -12m hallway w/ living compartments -hangar -3way 60 degree intersection -4way 90 degree intersection -5way 90 degree intersection -6way 90 degree intersection -6way 120 degree intersection -"T" intersection (connects at bottom of "T") -alternative "T" intersection (connects at one of the sides of the "T") Now, if you enjoy creating and exploring awesome space stations with these parts as much as I do, you won't be content with just the Basic Building Pack. But don't worry, more parts are on the way! The Practicality Part Pack is nearly finished and will be released later this week. After that, I will try to put out a part pack weekly or biweekly if it's something that the community wants. So if you like what I'm doing here, let me know, and I will be happy to give you more parts to play with! HOW TO USE --------------- Step 1: Download and Install First, download at this link. Next, unzip, and drag files into your ksp>saves>(the name of your saved game)>subassemblies folder. You now have the tools to create awesomeness! Step 2: Build the Base To build a station using these subassemblies, first start with a horizontal 2x2 structural panel (I recommend building in the SPH). Then, turn off angle snap (or it will be very difficult and imprecise)! Next, select your first station piece from the subassemblies menu and hover it on the center of one of the thin edges of the 2x2 panel. Rotate it so that it completely covers up, or 'engulfs', the original 2x2 panel. It should now look like all you have is your first station piece. From here on, just grab station pieces and attach them to the edges of other pieces, and orient them to your liking! Remember, these pieces are octagonal, so if you can't get the module oriented the way you want it, try attaching it one of the seven other edges. It's easy to get the hang of, and, before long, you will be building amazing and fun orbital bases! Step 3: Launch the Base Once you've completed building your base, simply press the launch button and look away. 'Cause it gets ugly! In order to reduce part count, I don't reinforce any of these parts (you don't need reinforcement once your in space). Therefore, when you initially launch your base, it buckles, bends, flexes, and basically looks like it's falling apart. However, because the modules are composed of mostly structural parts, there shouldn't be any breakage or destruction. Just wait for the movement to die down enough to quick save. Once you've quick saved, simply edit the quick save file to put your space station in the desired orbit (Scott Manley has a great on this), and voila! You have an interactive masterpiece orbiting little ol' Kerbin!--------------- I hope you all enjoy using these parts as much as I do! Please, give me feedback if you like it or dislike it, or if you have suggestions for new parts, or have a problem or question about the existing parts! And, please, share your creations! GATOR
  8. perhaps this could help... It might take some work to convert it to a horizontal engine, but it's worth a shot GATOR
  9. Great work! Replicas of U.S. Navy crafts will always get you rep from me especially when they look this good! Keep it up!
  10. Good job dude, that's awesome! It's a nice change from all the other SSTOs.
  11. Haha thank you for your support! I guess that just means I'll have to keep creating crafts that you find worthy of rep. (maybe some more VTOLs)
  12. Incredible work! I can't imagine the time and patience it must've taken to get everything right! +rep!
  13. .craft file download link is now in the original post! Have fun! P.S. Don't forget to post any awesome creations/modifications you make using this craft!
  14. Thanks guys, I appreciate the positive feedback! And yea, Majorjim, there's no denying that this thing is butt ugly. It started as a proof of concept project that I was too lazy to clean up:wink: ScriptKitt3h, the ramp is hinged with those detachable structural pylons. Their connection is flexible, allowing the landing legs to bend the ramp down, but stiff enough to snap the ramp back up when the legs are retracted. The ramp is secured in the closed position with one of those asteroid-grabby arm things. Sorry for the lack of specific part names:P
  15. This spacious cargo plane is unlike all the other stock planes in that it features a cargo ramp that actually opens and closes. Oh, and it can land on water:P You can cram its (surprisingly spacious) hold full of whatever you want, and this thing will have no trouble taking off. Because it's hull is composed entirely of high-strength parts, it's very forgiving on landings (both water and land). Let me know what you think! GATOR
  16. Thank you, sir! Having just taken a quick jaunt over to your VTOL Junkyard, I must say that I am likewise impressed with your VTOL arsenal. Some truly original designs! Keep up the good work, and keep an eye on the skies...
  17. That is exactly how the burst cannons work I've been messing around with that type of thing for a while (started with trying to send Kerbals into orbit), and decided that I wanted it to be the main feature of my first gunship. And thanks for all the advice! I especially appreciate the jet/rocket combo tip, cause landing jets vertically is a pain in the ass (hence the parachutes ). I'll definitely be integrating your suggestions into my next ship. Anyway, I appreciate the positive feedback, and look forward to your next latest and greatest dropship GATOR
  18. Hey Cupcake, i recently made my first foray into the world of VTOL gunships. A fellow advised me that you're the local authority on this sort of thing, and I must say, I am extremely impressed. Not only with the design of your ships, but your skill in flying them. Anyway, the same person thought that you might be interested in this gunship I made, so here you go. I, myself, would be interested in any comments/critiques and/or suggestions you could offer. Hope you enjoy! GATOR
  19. Just finished Mass Effect 3, and this make me so happy! Amazing creations! Take your deserved rep!
  20. Thanks! And yea, Naten, the catalina was my first inspiration, but my "in-thrust-we-trust" instinct told me to put four engines instead of two haha. Turned out perfectly, and looks kinda like an M-130 (except for the high horiz. stab.)
  21. I've seen a lot of seaplanes in KSP, but few of them stock. And of the stock ones, almost none look and/or fly like conventional seaplanes (whacky designs or resorting to VTOL for water landing/takeoff), so I set out to create a realistic looking seaplane that lands and takes off like real seaplanes (no VTOL). I soon found out why no one makes them. It was a challenge to get the lift, thrust, and cg to line up favorably, but I eventually came up with this: Inspired by a Martin M-130-ish design, this plane is incredibly easy to takeoff, land, and fly in general! Not to mention it's a hell of a lot of fun! Hope you enjoy, and let me know what you think!
  22. That's pretty sweet! You have inspired me to revisit ion-powered aircraft!
  23. Thank you! I'm equally impressed with those behemoths you have carting fuel around! I seem to have more trouble with stability and maneuverability the larger I build. And those things are bigger (and probably waaay heavier) than any VTOL I've built. Kudos!
  24. A stock militarized VTOL gunship I just made recently. Let me know what you think!
  25. Yea, I thought about tightening that up, but I thought it looked kind of cool flexing like that haha. But I think you're right, a stiffer tail would probably make for more solid landings
