  1. This mod has been abandoned. It should still work in its current state. Please contact me if you would like to take over the pack. Description This mod adds one small gas giant, the titular planet Helvica, and its moons to the space between the orbits of Duna and Dres. While it may not be as far from Kerbin as Jool or gas giants added by other mods, Helvica does have one trick up its sleeve: It orbits in a retrograde direction. Because of this, you will have to carefully plan your trip in order to get an encounter. It has a few other features as well, including large rings, three moons, one submoon, PlanetShine and DistantObjectEnhancement support, and multiple science biomes for each body. As for compatibility with other planet packs, as long as you don't use mods that add planets between the orbits of Duna and Dres, or that entirely replace the existing stock system (Beyond Home, Galileo's Planet Pack, etc.), you should be good to go. Note: Helvica is my first planet mod, and it is very much a work in progress. Do not expect to find zero bugs. Updates may or may not arrive periodically. Installation Instructions Recommended: Install using CKAN. CKAN will detect compatibility issues and install any missing dependencies if needed. Manual: 1. Download and install the dependencies if you don't already have them. 2. Extract the contents of Helvica_(vX.X).zip\GameData to your KSP GameData folder. 3. Enjoy! Download from SpaceDock Dependencies Kopernicus Stable Branch (1.12.x) Supported Mods PlanetShine DistantObjectEnhancement Q & A Q. Is Helvica compatible with other planet mods? A. Yes, as long as they do not replace the existing stock system, and do not add a planet between the orbits of Duna and Dres. Q. Is Helvica compatible with Principia? A. Helvica is not compatible with Principia. Q. Is Helvica compatible with Rescale or Sigma Dimensions? A. There is currently no support for Rescale or Sigma Dimensions. Q. Where do I report bugs? A. You can either reply to this forum post, or send me a public or private message on my forum profile. Remember to do a proper bug report (i.e., include your mod list and the steps to replicate the bug). I will try to find a fix during my free time. If the bug is caused by a separate mod with no stated compatibility, I may not be able to fix it. A. I no longer take responsibility for this mod. Q. Why does it orbit the wrong way? How do I get to it? A. One of Helvica's primary features is that it is in a retrograde orbit, unlike most other planets. This is intentional. You can either spend enough Δv (delta-v) to put yourself in a retrograde orbit around the Sun, or if you like taking risks, try to get an encounter with Helvica as it is coming towards Kerbin and either aerobrake or use gravity assists (very difficult). You can also raise your Sun apoapsis to a very high altitude, and use a combination of gravity assists and engine power to easily invert your orbit. This has the upside of requiring less delta-v, and the downside of taking many months or years. Q. Can I make suggestions? A. Of course! Feedback and suggestions are very welcome. I need all the help I can get. I might not take suggestions that ask to add X moon, although I will consider it if it is a good idea. A. Suggestions will not be responded to. Helvica System Blue = Complete Green = Released Red = Unreleased Changelog Known Issues Ruse may have strange terrain, particularly around its poles. Borders between biomes may not be well-defined on certain moons. Large file size due to the use of .png textures for Neus Nadavo. 2. https://discovery.researcher.life/article/a-fusion-propelled-transportation-system-to-produce-terrestrial-power-using-helium-3-from-uranus/334a70a954043a67a5b3c6f89a39c86d According to the article еhe lunar regolith contains up to 15.1 parts per billion He3, while Uranus' atmosphere has 15,000 parts per billion He3. It is proposed to process atmospheric gases in a flying factory, obtaining Helium-3 from them. The cargoes will be lifted into space by a direct-flow shuttle, the construction of which I don't really understand. I know that flying colonies are not in priority until maybe 1.0 release, but it is very interesting and extraordinary way to use gas giants, as Jool and others in different star systems
  3. 6THP Renewed About This is a more improved version of my first planet pack It's a small but decent pack. It adds: -Yela: A cold yellow gas giant. Its existence was unknown for a long time, but scientists managed to find it. -Ucko: A small asteroid moon in low orbit around Yela, it has a small sphere of influence making it sometimes hard to get an encounter. -Ela: An icy world covered with endless sheets of ice and a thin atmosphere. The view is rather beautiful when on the correct side. -Molee: The outermost moon. Its surface is covered with large impact craters, making for some interesting hills. Hope you enjoy! 4. So a while ago I saw a thread making a stockalike Gas Planet 2, but it seems to now be dead. But, I am making my own mod for it! It contains a planet that is a stockalike size for GP2 (Gas Planet 2) It also has it's four moons, renamed so Kerbol Origins doesn't copyright strike this mod. 5. Hello everybody. I have a simple but intricate question on how would you think it's the best way to schedule science data gathering on a kamikaze probe burning on a gas giant atmosphere. I use remote tech, I love the additional difficulty in it, but I think I hit a wall here. When I want to send a probe to a gas giant I can't get the science before the probe is destroyed due to signal delay. Is there any way to automate or trigger the science gathering from the probe itself? Do you have any ideas on how this task can be done in a efficient way. Thanks to all your ideas. As always, forgive any grammar mistakes and feel free to correct me. Be good Zeke
  6. Hi everybody. So, one of my hobbies in addition to KSP is the creation of a fantasy world, and I was recently inspired to make my world a moon of a gas giant instead of its own planet. However, after reading this thread I realized that I might have daily 50 foot tidal waves if I do that. So my question is, can I position my moon in such a way that it avoids this? I had planned to have five other large moons in the sky, with this world being the fourth of the six, but I'm open to changing that. Would placing it farther out lessen the tidal effects of the other moons? Would placing it closer to the gas giant's gravity well have the same effect? I am planning to have this world tidally locked, by the way, so I believe that should eliminate tidal waves caused by the planet itself, even if it makes for some weird oceans. Any help on this would be appreciated, so thank you in advance!
  7. Get a plane into a low flight on Jool or a modded gas giant and post starting mass:fuel/oxy:cost Low flight is 20km No cheats or Hyperedit. Video of entire journey is required Leaderboards: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5)
  8. Dear people, The tutorial @Poodmund suggest me to watch really helped but now I got another problem. I made a texture for the gas giant but there is something I'm missing. It's hard to explain so I'll just show you: https://postimg.org/image/p9kulykod/ The texture has this line. I mean, it doesn't blend well. I don't know how to explain it but I'm guessing you can see it for yourself. Hopefully somebody can help me with this! Thanks for taking a look
  9. Dear readers, What's best to do for getting textures for gas giants? I know you can't really use PQS mods and SE (Space Engine) isn't the best choice either. I've really done enough research, but I still can't figure out what's best to do. Hopefully somebody can help me with this! Thanks! Just leave suggestions down below.
