  1. I want to have some sort of Failures with Aircraft Engines (for example i wanna add support for such thing to My mod) The mod should -just include basic failure system (or it should have availability to turn anything besides failures off) -it should not be a big mod Bonus: If the mod can do particles or animations when the part fails, it would be a bonus TL;DR: Searching for Simple Part Failure Mod
  2. Hi Guys I am troweling around for a couple of old posts from 2014, 2015 and 2016. One of the posts I am looking comes from someone whose username I cannot remember, however I remember he/she had a distinct signature of green eyes (possibly taken from the cyberpunk trailer?) and also that the account (again, I think) was at some point on the moderation team. Does anyone know of an account that would match this description? Thanks in advance
  3. Hello everyone! I've always wondered if there was a good visual mod, that makes the system beautiful, without taking a horrendous amount of processing power. I have EVE, and it works greats, but it's boring on places without atmospheres, and scatterer destroys my computer. Astronomer's visual pack turns my computer into lava, and pretty much there isn't a good visual mod that I can run well besides EVE. Stock looks fine, but it just isn't that beautiful compared to with visual mods. So is there a good visual mod that a mid-end computer can run well, that also provides a good amount of visuals?
  4. So I've noticed that there is no main thread for people searching for specific mods. This really didn't seem right as I've been searching for certain mods in the past and had no where to turn to. As a result I'm starting this thread in the hopes that it takes off and offers people a place to ask what certain mods are. And for the start of this thread I'll ask: what mod are these solar panels from? Link - http://m.imgur.com/TiDdtLC?r
  5. Hi, I had the following issue: I have a very enormous parts-list. I like the whole "kid in the candy-store" approach, so I have n+1 mods installed. Where n is about twice the number of mods a reasonable person would have. My "GameData" folder, not counting the "Squad" subfolder, is about 4 Gigabytes. Yes. Don't do that. Consequently, my parts list stretches pretty much all the way to Minmus and back. To find something specific, the search-box presents itself. I even use it with QuickSearch. However. The very first letter I enter, KSP would try to instantly show me all the parts where that letter occurs. While it's doing that, I couldn't enter the next letter of my search term. Searching could take a minute. Literally a minute, and actually a minute, too. As it dug its way through my parts list, letter by letter, each time, KSP would be unresponsive until the results were ready to show. I dreaded using the search, just scrolling through some category was often quicker. Not always a working substitute for searching, though. Trying to start the search term with an unlikely letter-combination, yz or something, only lets me enter my search-term in full and in peace once it's done looking for the first letter. This problem no-longer irks me. I'm sure I've just missed some setting for not having the search run off with the first letter. If somebody could tell me where that is in the settings, please do tell me, I couldn't find it. But as I said, it's no longer so bad. The search still runs off with the first letter. But it's not getting stuck anymore. I can enter a whole search term, the search is quick and responsive and lovely. It went a little slow again, so I repeated what I suspected had been the fix and, yap, it worked. Just start KSP clean, same install, but without mods. Then shut it down, and start once more with the mods. Step by step, for anyone unsure what I mean: Put the mods where the game won't see them. I just rename "GameData" to some piece of fruit. Create a new folder, name it "GameData", without the ", obviously. Copy the "Squad" subfolder from the bulging bag of fruit to the new "GameData" folder. Start the game. Don't go make coffee or whatever you usually do when your heavily modded KSP install fires up. This time, it will be lightning fast. When the main-menu has come up, just click "Quit". Get rid of the new "GameData" folder you created earlier. Rename or Delete. Just make sure that the "Squad" subfolder is also still with the fruit. Rename the fruit back to "GameData", so that it looks like before. Now you go make some coffee, or do the laundry, while KSP starts up. enjoy fast and responsive search of the parts-list! I do think I need at least one "answer" to mark this as answered, no?
  6. [WIP] PartFinder v0.2 WHO: This tool is for modders, or those who want to have control over their modded installs parts. (Windows) WHY: I wanted to have a tool, wich can scan the GameData folder and lists all parts from any mod, by name and in-game title so I can find them easily. And then I wanted a mechanism to create prune files automated. WHAT: - Lists all parts and of the GameData Folder with Name and path (right-click and click on "Path: ..." to open the file) - Easy creation of prune files - Applicaiton of prune files or lists of prune files - Automatic creation of prune files (remove non-RP0/ repair texture/model resources -> no black parts) HOW: File > Select Install > select the Folder of KSP (not GameData) File > Select Prune List > select/create any (empty) text file Press Update Select files you want to remove then double-click or press ">Prune>". The app will create a prune list (the files are not touched yet). The program can only remove the whole files, so be careful with it! If you want to apply the changes: Apply>Open Apply Window. In this window you have the following Options "Add" (left)/(right): Add a list. All files in that list will be pruned/unpruned (renamed to cfg.pruned/.cfg). Add the same file here and add files for the AutoPruner (AutoPruner) "Remove" (left)/(right) remove files again Check the files Press "Aplly All". It will first prune all files from any list on the left, then unprune any file from any list on the right. ALSO: Right-click on a part to get more Information. And click on the "Path: .." entry to open the respective .cfg-file OPTIONS: You can use these search parts using the search bar (use Return or press "search") with the following Options: no mods: if checkedit will not show part/.cfg-files created with @PART (recommended: checked) parts only: it will only present you content of files where a PART tag was found (recommended: checked) no copies, it will not Show parts created with +PART (recommended: unchecked) no deleted: it will not Show parts wich are deleted using the !PART thing DOWNLOAD/LINK: https://github.com/nablabla/PartFinder/releases Screenshots: http://i.imgur.com/pMa1tav.png http://i.imgur.com/URLxsw9.png http://i.imgur.com/iorl5vL.png TODO: list all parts which are in the same file more testing do some Performance measurements provide Information about parts and the inheritance of parts in a nice window splitt .cfg files to make it possible to only prune a part, not touching the others (?) Please be nice to me, I do this the first time. I am very open for any suggestions/contributions
  7. So the other day I was thinking it's still a pain to find the part you want when I noticed the search box over the top of the parts. I was gobsmacked. When did that get added? I think part of me subconciously KNEW that there wasn't a search box so edited it out of my vision or something. All I know is that whoever added the darn thing I need to shout out THANK YOU VERY MUCH - YOU'RE AWESOME at the top of my lungs. Oh and ironically, when I searched for anything about it on here... the search engine failed to find anything on the other search engine. Probably inter-search-engine-competition at work.
  8. So, I've been watching a lot of streamers for KSP, and just playing a lot of KSP lately, and I've noticed something: Finding craft files are a pain for me, and probably for others as well. When the search was implemented for parts, it was great, and you could use keywords to find parts, I propose a way to save your craft with tags (if you wish), and be able to use those tags to find your craft file with ease. This way, you could search for a craft file by its name or by a tag you gave it. Another thing that could be done, is implementing a folder system, so you can categorize your crafts that way. Let me give an example. Let's say that I built a rover, and I wanted to save a stable version, an experimental version, and updated, separate versions too. If you were to save like this, you would quickly fill up on crafts, as every build would have many versions to look through. With the search feature, you could use the differently named versions of the rover, to find it easily, or look for a tag you put in, such as "unfinished" or "experimental". With the folder system, you could also be able to put every single version of that rover, inside of a single rover file, for easy access. Thanks for reading my massive collection of ,commas, .Unfinished senten-. and just horribl inglish.
  9. I am not certain if anyone has suggested this in the past, but I was curious if there could be in the next or future KSP release(s) a simple Vehicle and Subassembly name search in the list like the part search that was added in 1.1 so players with hundreds to thousands of vehicles and subassemblies saved, like me, could find vehicles faster than having to scroll through them all. If not, is there a way to mod it into KSP like the part search before version 1.1? Thank you for your time in reading this, Jason
  10. This has bothered me ever since the new forums came into being. When I search with the sort order set to "Relevance" and then do the same search again right away with the sort order set to "Date", I'm not *really* changing my mind and searching again. I'm getting the search I wanted the *first* time but had no means of selecting in the forum software. Can we please have the sort order selectable on the advanced search screen so I don't have to keep searching twice back to back? Every time the search screen tells me I need to wait a bit before searching again, I feel like saying back at it, "Well, I wouldn't have had to, now would I, if you'd have let me pick the search I wanted the first time? I didn't want the 'Relevance' search. That was *your* idea that this is what I wanted, not mine, Mr Forum."
