Alright, you've waited long enough... On the Road to the Stars: A KSP Mission Report On the Road to the Stars is a "reboot" of my old mission report, The Sky is Not the Limit. It is about the Kerbal Aeronautics and Space Administration (KASA), a space program founded in the Federated States of Vankadia to counter the Telosteni Union's space program. If it all goes to plan, one day this space program will blossom into Kerbalkind's top space program, spearheading the way into the cosmos. The save settings will be a custom difficulty with no Kerbal respawns, G-force limits, plasma blackout, and 1.5x science rewards. There are also a large number of mods, including Kerbalism, Outer Planets Mod, and Exploration Plus. The full list is below. Modlist (Updated 9-7-24) Table of Contents: It's definitely been a while since the last update for The Sky is Not the Limit (a bit under two months), but I'm really optimistic that I can finally do what I dreamed of doing in the original report with this one. My modlist is drastically reduced, the forums are stabilized again, and I'm in a Kerbal mood again. There's no point doing any more procrastination. Before we start, I'd like to thank some people. I know, it's a bit cringe and cliche but I really want to give some credit out. @Kerbalsaurus, for giving me help planning the new report as a fellow mission report writer and reader. @Toaster355, for giving me tips on how to improve the visuals and photography of the report, and even lending me his superb TUFX profile. And finally, to @Kerb24, @Maria Sirona, @Kimera Industries, @dsplaisted, @Watermel00n, @Royalswissarmyknife, and @Venturer2Space, for being supporters of the report since its beginning. But I don't want to keep you waiting any longer. So, let's jump right in... *** Volume 1: Race for Space - Objective: Land a Kerbonaut on the Mun and return them safely to Kerbin. This thread is cancelled, but there is a successor thread out now: Recommend you go read this one instead, as it is intended to be vastly improved. *** The Sky is Not the Limit: A KSP1 Mission Report The Sky is Not the Limit will show the development of the Kerbal Aeronautics and Space Administration (KASA) from a small Kerbin space program from the country of Vankadia, striving to beat the Zolosten Union to the Mun, to (if all goes planned) a large organization, settling the final frontier and pushing the limits of Kerbalkind. This save will be mostly normal difficulty, but with Kerbal G limits, plasma blackout, and no Kerbal respawn. I also have a bunch of mods, but the most important ones are Kerbalism, Outer Planets Mod and Exploration Plus. The full modlist is here: And the full table of contents are here: *** So, without further ado, let's get this started! (EDIT: At over twenty chapters in, I decided to retcon the countries system in this report. Now, instead of having Earth countries in Kerbin, we now have unique countries and flags, however, this does mean that for all the chapters up to Chapter Twenty will feature American flags, and may have some occasional inconsistencies. I've tried to edit the "legacy" chapters as best I could, but there's no getting around the flags. So just try to maybe imagine that the American flag is this flag instead: Volume One: The Race for Space - The Kerbin country of the Socialist Union of Zolosten has started reaching out into space. Given the competitive nature of Kerbals, the Democratic States of Vankadia's space program won't stand for this and will attempt to land the first Kerbal on the Mun. Chapter One: Big Things Start Small Note: These photos were made in a different save after the originals were lost. I've tried to be as consistent with the originals as possible, but there may be some errors. These missions were done 100% legitimately in the main save.

STARBOUND Introduction Oh boy, here we go again. I'm Misguided Kerbal, and here I am starting another mission report (hopefully we'll finish this one.) Anyway, I've been meaning to do a full JNSQ playthrough for quite a while now so I'm quite excited for this. This is going to be in JNSQ - sandbox mode, but with my own personal restrictions, as I really hate the grind of Career and Science mode and just want to do my own thing. All of this is my own interpretation, of course - though you will see strong inspiration from things such as BDB and Raptor9's craft catalog and the likes. So, what exactly are we doing here? Good question, imaginary voice in my head. The end goal - land a kerbal on every single body in the JNSQ system. We'll see how it goes. CHAPTER 0: OUR DREAM YEAR 1, DAY 1 - LAUNCH OF THE CKR SPACE PROGRAM 200 years ago, the nations of Kerbin agreed to join into one global government, called the Communist Kerbin Republic (CKR). Ever since the start of the CKR, its citizens had always looked to the stars. Even with its shaky start, the dream stayed alive. Unfortunately, the nation formed just as the industrial revolution was starting, so the stars always remained just out of reach. Well today, the dream comes alive, with the creation of the brand new CKR Space Program. Its goal is to conquer the new frontier of space travel, and spread all across the Kerbolar system. Of course, we're thinking too far ahead. For now, we need to figure out one thing: can we even get there? CHAPTER LIST Chapter 1: Dawn of the Space Age Chapter 2: Mun and Done Chapter 3: Expanded Influence Chapter 4: Stepping Out Chapter 5: Advancement and Innovation Chapter 6: Walking Among the Stars Chapter 7: Gaining Experience Chapter 8: Setting the Foundation Chapter 9: Full Force -------------------------------------------------------------- Well, here we go again. Another mission report. Maybe this time I'll actually get around to updating it. Why exactly am I making this mission report though? Well, I'm honestly very disappointed with the huge lack of soviet based mission reports. There are several based on NASA. Hell, even Beyond is based on NASA. But there's something about Soviet spacecraft that has character to them. The round spacecraft shapes in contrast to the sharp-pointed fairings, the round circular windows. Sure, the Soviet Union wasn't the greatest of countries, but from how much they've contributed to space travel, they at least deserve some form of recognition on the forums. Inspirations: @Hotaru's mission report CCKP: An Eventful Return for giving me the idea of doing a Soviet thread. @Misguided Kerbal's mission report Starbound - A JNSQ Adventure for the semi-historical thread idea and what I'm basing my layout off of. @TwoCalories's mission report The Sky is Not the Limt: A modded KSP1 Career Playthrough for his Kerbalized Soviet craft, as well as TwoCalories himself being a valiant friend of mine on the forums. THIS IS NOT A PRO OR ANTI COMMUNIST THREAD, NOR A POLITICAL STATEMENT. I WANT TO SAY THAT BEFORE SOMEBODY YELLS AT ME.
