Shuttles: Speeding Mullet's Micro Shuttle (Makes it to 1Mm orbit, and 77 parts)

SSTO: Rune's White Dart. <70 parts, four different versions, and more than enough dV for Minmus landing if you have a fuel station in orbit. And looks friggin amazing.

Station pack: Probably Rune's ring station

Base Pack: Rune's Base-In-Box, mainly since it's one of two on the forums and Temstar's takes an insane amount of launches. You can tell I like Rune's stuff :sticktongue:

Also, in case anyone hasn't seen it, here is a link to Speeding Mullet's craft page; the Micro Shuttle is on there about 3/4 of the way down.

Here's my short list: (will be updated as I find posts here and on reddit and elsewhere)

Ground Vehicles: Majorjim's Truck

Launch/Lifter Rocket/Pack: kat's launch pack (at least i think it's kat's, i have to find it)

SpaceX: RevanCorana his SpaceX replica is setting the bar higher and higher.

Space Probes:

Planetary Rovers:

Planetary Landers: (someone made pineapple design.. hunting it down)

Mun Rockets/Landers: GusTurbo's Saturbo V - simply amazing

Shuttles: Westi29's Stock Shuttle

SSTOs: Rune's Whitedart Series (although I have a mind to give him a run for his...um... credits when I work on my own SSTO lifter :P ) (never really got the hang of Cupcake's dropships)

Station Packages: Mad Rocket's Station in a Box

Base Packages: In all seriousness this is the most awesome base ever: avaslash Download

Motherships: i think it was kat again, this time with a massively awesome mothership from the BBC series Voyage to the Planets.

Constellation Pack: Majorjim's Constellation pack is a top contender in my mind.

Hey man. I'm flattered you have nominated me for a few things. Which truck do you mean? Because I never made a truck. The fuel truck I uploaded was Capt Snuggler's. Or do you mean the land rover?

Thanks inigma, I also think that my Dragon 2 Replica would sit nicely in this pack, maybe also the Falcon Mini I made earlier.

The Wanderfound's Dolphin is really awesome but let's save it for a modded starter packplayers

I also think my X-85 Ion Jet SSTO could fit in well too, along my KerbAprilia 8 (Kerbal Bike).

And for other people's craft suggestions I think at least 1 of Cupcake...'s Dropships is a must on this list.

Vagani has 1 or 2 very good cars (don't remember their name).

MY STARTER PACK

Nothing.

New players to KSP should in my opinion keep outside influences at the minimal. Then they can come up with their own brilliant ideas and go through the unique learning curve KSP demands.

Download: about:blank

Good point, but I see it more as a alternative to the slightly bad stock crafts set of examples by Squad

@ Majojon: Oh yea sorry, I have a bad tendency to bypass rules that I think make no sense.

Are we trying to create the best pack we possibly can for newcomers or playing a game of who's the most likable person on the forum. ;)

There was once a series of building challenges in the challenge subforum aimed at recreating better versions of the stock demonstration .crafts :) those were specifically meant through the challenge rules to 'show' various simple concepts about KSP rocket / plane designing :)

Yeah that was great. I still have a bad feeling about this thread. Despite the flattery.

I'll remove my own pics and suggestions if that's really necessary, just tell me here or by pm.

@sgt_flyer:

I didn't see the said thread, but it seems like a similar idea, except this one doesn't exactly aim to replace the stock crafts,

it's more a sort of best of what's been done by the community, voted/selected by the community as I understand it.

I won't get mad at anyone if my crafts aren't selected,

I'm simply interested in helping the topic advance.

Yeah that was great. I still have a bad feeling about this thread. Despite the flattery.

No idea what you mean, I'm just saying that, if the pack's good enough and get frequent updates, then this thread could become sticky in the SC exchange

which might be pretty welcoming and helpful for newcomers actually.

Wow I've been nominated a lot! Thank guys, really glad you like my stuff. I do in fact make a point of always having noob-friendly designs around. And for the guy that nominated the General Lifter series... You just reminded me that they have been sitting in my VAB rebuilt for 0.90 up to at least the 50mT version for a couple months. I should finish and release! The new fairings are like, a gazillion times cooler. But taking all those pics...

Anyhow, I really would be one of the worst persons to recommend stuff. I rarely download anything! I do a lot of copying form the pics, coming up with the building tricks on my own is always rewarding IMO. But if I had to pick something, I think the the builder's quality that has impressed me the most is Cupcake's in his various VTOLs, especially the 100% rocket-powered ones. They are perfectly balanced, easy to use, and give out incredible performance. And Mesklin just comes up with the most amazingly inventive contraptions you can imagine (though I doubt he has a lot of noob-friendly stuff).

I don't think stuff with a gazillion parts should be part of a "starter pack", sadly (the "if it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing" happens some time after you get the game, right? When the normal scale isn't enough anymore) so even though I want to, I really can't recommend some of you guys that do legitimately amazing stuff.

Rune. That goes for the usual suspects in the 1,000 part amazing replica crowd... ;)

Agreed to a certain extent. Personally I think this whole concept is flawed. Any new player should be finding thier own methods.

This feel like those colouring in books that have raised edges. It's not creative..

Having said that there are many awesome craft that I think should be heralded in one place. Thing is there are already a few threads that do that.

This thread feels like it doesn't know what it is. Any new player/forum member is very capable of finding craft they like. Be it a simple but capable SSTO with low part count or a complex multi craft mission. Or detailed recreation.

Thoughts anyone?

Thoughts anyone?

Pretty much +1. Someone may find this particular collection useful, but it's unlikely everyone will agree on it. Truth be told, the old stock repository was probably the better idea in my own view. But that was a ..... to maintain, and I don't know how such a thing would work nowadays.

Rune. The showcase of showcases was actually a far better idea.

Gentlemen, this isn't a collection. This is a thread for you to post a list of your favorite crafts over time. That way newcomers can get an idea of what to look for and where, and who likes what. I'm not publishing a list in the OP at this point. Too much work.

Here's some that I recommend:

Wayfare's Crafts - Low part and simple designs that are easy for newcomers to understand, but function beautifully and look very good as well.

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/43355

Scarecrow88 - Great beginner and advanced craft, low part count design and well thought out.

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/108512

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/109757

Reistlyn's Crafts - Aesthetically pleasing designs that have scientific utilities, too! Great designs.

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/109966

inigma's Space Shuttle - Good representation of the Space Shuttle that looks and performs well. Many payloads to choose from and gives newcomers an opportunity to see spaceplane design.

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/108219

Kosmo-not's Crafts - Good, creative designs with innovative techniques. Good for beginners as well.

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/31222

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/38561

GusTurbo's Crafts - Gus knows how to manipulate parts to get aesthetically pleasing results. Great craft!

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/82448

Giggleplex777's Crafts - Lots of good stuff. Sadly, a lot of it is broken with the new spaceplane parts but once he fixes them, it will be spectacular!

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/17752

Majorjim's Crafts - Anything on his page will be spectacular, but the Constellation pack is a good example of modular mission design and the Short Brother's VTOL shows how to balance aircraft quite well.

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/81526

Rune's Crafts - Anything from Rune will also be spectacular, and he has so many great craft, but I especially like his modular base pack. Great example of module base design and how to transport base parts.

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/108081

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/members/54000

Temstar's Crafts - Well thought out, low part count designs of creative design. Quite spectacular.
