Hello!

I am going to use this thread for all of my models and eventually released mods. Hopefully I will be able update the thread frequently.

 SmallFatHydrogen

Dev Thread will be created in about two weeks as of the 2nd of June.

Here's a textured liquid hydrogen tank for use with NERVAs.

infladial?

 Older Stuff

Not likely to be finished. Just ask for .blend files.

To start things off, here are 2 models that I made last night/this morning.

This is a VASIMR engine based off the Near Future Propulsion pack.

This is a medium solar panel and my first animated part in blender.

In case you can't tell, this is based off the engine of the Titan missile that was used during the Gemini program.

Check back soon!

What do you mean exactly? This is really vague.

UV unwrapping and texturing. how do you do it?

-What method do you use to unwrap something complex such as the VASIMR?

-What program do you use to texture it?

-How do you not take all night to make basic textures? (I ask this because I stayed up way too late just doing a basic texture with no shading or anything and it took HOURS)

-How do you get the porkjet-esque "used and dirty stockalike" look?

-Anything else I should know?

Thank you so much for your help!

SmallFatFetus

P.s. If you want to PM me your email I can send you my models and whatever else I am working on.

Wait, you're a complete beginner? I'm sorry but this is something you'll have to figure out on your own but googling tutorials. When you have specific questions or questions about more detailed or advanced stuff I'll be here to answer.

Hello!

I'm back, and I have new models. I have been playing around with the cycles render engine for the past few hours and I managed to get some promising results. I am learning! :D

In case you can't tell, this is based off the engine of the Titan missile that was used during the Gemini program. (hence the name) If you have any advice, and/or things that I am doing wrong, please don't hesitate to tell me. I love getting feedback from you all! OP has been updated.

EDIT: Here's a "textured" version. I'm still learning how to use cycles.

Here's a model for a liquid hydrogen tank for use with NERVAs. It is 2.5m, and the little dark grey things at the top are 1.25m for easy, adapterless transition. Expect more, as well as a thread in Add On Development subforum soon.

No offence but wouldn't it be better if they learned UVs themselves? The model is pretty decent for a beginner. The polygon density looks about right, and it looks somewhat plausible as a structure (I'd add some diagonal struts between both ring pairs, and I'd make the middle rings and middle struts touch the tank)

If you can do this, you can do UVs. Practice reusing UVs for identical meshes. You can do it by deleting the mesh that's identical, unwrapping it, and then just copying the mesh. The UVs will stay the same.

I know how to use seams but I didn't here because I didn't want to make it any more complicated than it had to be.

What do you mean with more complicated? Using seams allows you to waste less UV space, and in the end making your textures look more detailed.

PS: Have you already done the Pegasus colliders? If yes, please teach me how.

@Cpt. Kipard- giving them better reinforcements, bumpmaps, and a general quality pass as we speak.

Animation for an inflatable, radial hydrogen tank. This would start empty and be able to inflate whenever you want. however, you would have to manually transfer fuel into it. It would just save space and allow you to stick your craft into a fairing for launch. (I'm looking at you, Nertea, with your damned massive, pretty radial tanks) And no, the rings don't clip in the stored position, or anywhere in the animation.
