Squadcast Summary (2015-04-25) - 1.0 Inbound Edition!

Also, they kinda almost sorta confirmed that MK3 wings will be able to carry fuel AND oxidizer!

Note that Maxmaps said the pictured shuttle's only fuel source were the wings? You see any jet engines on there? nope, all those engines need oxidizer. Doubt they would showcase a non-funtioning craft.

Nah. The Mk3 to 3.75m adapter carries fuel and oxidizer.

There's the heat shields too, although I'm not sure if that's one adjustable part or copies of the part in different sizes. Also those inline utility containers, which comes out to either 6 or 8. There's been a new mini-booster mentioned and then there's the fuel cell thing. So, there's about 6 or 8 parts that we don't know about yet.

There's also the likely fuel cell part that was spotted in the utility bay image from last squadcast ("it's something" said RoverDude when asked what it was).

So are asteroids going to actually be orbiting Dres or orbiting the Sun at the same height as Dres? Because the first is stupid.

Ok, I relistened, and Max said that asteroids will spawn around Dres just like they do around Kerbin (the latter). I thought the former because he said a few would orbit Dres, and meant that a few might get captured like they do with Kerbin.

We know of quite a few. Landing gear, I believe there were 5. We know of at least 3 wing pieces and 2 control surfaces, plus the tail. but there will probably be more. We saw an air intake too. We've seen air brakes. We've seen two scanners, a ore converter, and a fuel to energy converter, an ore tank, and a drill. Then there are the fairing bases, no idea how many of those, but guessing at least 4. Oh and the Xenon tank. That is 24 off the top of my head.

There are (at least) 2 new air-intakes:

And one new parachute, as well as 2 new unit thingies (fuel cells?) in the third row from the top:

Oh yeah, Heat shields and mini booster. Probably 4 shields for all sizes. I mentioned the fuel cell already. So that would bring the count up to 29 if I'm right, and I'm sure there are more than 3 wing pieces.

There will probably be more than one ore tank as well, and they mentioned a new atmospheric analyzer. I wonder how many that leaves?

Well stuff that i know is almost 100% going to be in the game:

fairing (it might be multiple parts, who knows)

ore scanner

drill

ore->fuel converter

ore storage tanks: id assume at least 3 sizes at least

fuel cell

wings: at least 3 if not more parts (the shuttle tail, jumbo jet wing, and the shuttle stubbier wing)

control surfaces: 3 at least types

air brake

wheels: 5 types assuming they didnt shelve or add any more from the old pictures

intakes: 2 unless they replace the stock ones (they do kinda look like possible replacements given that one is circular and one kinda looks liek a much more badass version of the RAM)

heat shield ablative: 4 sizes most likely

xenon tank

RT-5 (finally wont need multiple sepatrons for kinetic missiles)

Adding the bare minimum totals it would be 27 parts, but there are most likely stuff that ive missed or whatnot, and perhaps parts we have not been shows just yet.

Capture is rare and almost all get captured by Mun. You can get capture because of errors then doing SOI changes during high warp but this is unlikely.

Else I fully support shattering some asteroids around, Dress is perfect as it in a position equals to our asteroid belt and lacks features.

Eeloo should have some too, also realistic like Pluto have lost of junk.

Moho is another candidate, however that is less realistic.

I was just relaying what Max said.

I still wonder if I go out to Dres orbit yet on the opposite side of the sun from Dress will there be Asteroids there... or is it just near Dres

I am curious about this as well. Obviously, asteroids don't just hang around Kerbin and in the tracking station we only see those that our astronomers happen to find with their telescopes (which is why they are all opposite the Sun from us). I wonder if the whole mechanism has changed.

You were right, they did replace the circular and ram intakes. I'm so sad now :(

Things don't instantly explode on crashing. The ship may just break apart into its component parts if you're going slow enough. Also, things don't seem to slide as much as they used to, at least on Minmus.

It was mentioned that delta-v readouts would be in 1.0, but they've been absent from the YouTube videos and streams so far. Do we know much more about this feature?

Yes. We know that they were likely to be delayed. And now that we see no indication of them in the game on the streams and vids, it's safe to say that they're not "likely" delayed, but actually delayed.

At best.

Planes look really controllable. Which should infuriate the realism crowd but I'm excited to try it.

True. They've been hinting that the delta-v indicator would be delayed ever since they clarified the "more features or more polish" poll, that readout was specifically cited as something that would probably get bumped if they focused on polish, and I'm pretty sure someone said that it was almost definitely delayed a week or two ago.

Apparently part of Porkjet's efforts to unify the styling of aircraft parts. I like them, but had hoped they would be higher-capacity intakes, not just direct replacements of the original parts.

As I do with each release, here are the version numbers:

Winter Owl = 1.0.0.805 Beta x1 (Thanks Xavven)

EnterElysium = none spotted.

Scott Manley = v1.0.0.821 Most recent spotted in wild.

Previously, these version numbers could be tracked against the various experimental builds. If you are into stats, they can be used as part of a german tank problem. But with so few youtubers doing vids this time it's hard to read much into the data. But it is still worth collecting imho.

That's actually very interesting. It would make sense that the 'beta' tag would be removed on the later build used by manley. I wonder if that can tell us anything about Squad's internal practices?

The one thing I do see is that none of the pre-release people have ever done a vid using a linux build. Linux version numbers always end in round numbers, a point that can be a real pain when mods test for compatibility.

Why would that infuriate the realism crowd? If a plane is well built it should handle great.
