Squadcast Summary (2015-04-25) - 1.0 Inbound Edition!

And you'll probably need pilots for better fuel efficiency and more efficient maneuvering since they can get more out of it/be more precise.

No no no. That's the "jeb's boots of +2 ISP" debate. KSP may be a wacky funtime game, but there are a couple things that should remain at least loosely tied to realworld physics. ISP and fuel is one. Pilots, at least those not named Merlin, cannot have any impact on ISP.

Alright. I've watched around 16 hours of the videos so far. Some of the stuff like the heat spread was done well, some of it is half-baked like the insta-scan for resources. Some of it wasn't done at all (tier 0 buildings). I'm sticking by my "gonna be a mess".

It looks that way, but my view is that thepositives far outweight the few dissapointkments of features id like not getting in. I just view it as any other uopdate, lots of cool stuff, extra parts, bugfixes, ect, even if it might not be as grand as initially planned.

Still, compared to 0.90, its WAY better, and you cant really complain about 1.0, despite the fact that me and probably many dont feel what squad calls a fully fledged game is actually done, its still staying a beta in my eyes regardfless of what people call it.

I'm not looking for new features. I would like them to actually finish those features they have already added: the sorry state of texture management or the fiddly orbits that sometime won't take a node. Has anyone seen whether terrain scatters are still labeled "wip"? Is there any single feature that Squad is ready to stand behind and say "Yes, that feature is now complete"?

Some sort of official api, or at least some better documentation for modders would go a long way. A few months ago I dug through the math of how KSP calculates part costs in relation to resources in those parts. It's total back-to-front spaghetti math.

I like the instacan for resources. The hard part is getting the satellite into the correct orbit. Making a sandwich while time warping adds nothing to the gameplay. Though you do get a nice sandwich.

That was precisely my thought when I designed it. Even with SCANSat, we just get into a polar orbit and warp for ten seconds. And best bit is that if you really like sandwiches, all of the hooks are there for modders to tinker with :)

I can confirm that terrain scatters are no longer WIP. 4kbshort touches on this.

Yep. I did the kethane scan thingy, and despite looking better in concept it was really just pointless waiting time. Even went as far as to optimizes scanner satellites for higher time warp.
