And now Mechrior is attempting to see if infinigliding actually still works XD, but even if it doesn't, hey, this thing he's makinhg will explode in a fun way.

Nothing wrong with crazy experiments like that.

And yes. It did explode spectacularly.

I just want one person to sit down and say, "Hey. You know what a space plane is and everybody's shown you resource gathering. I'm going to spend the next 90 minutes systematically going through every single menu option and showing you what has changed.

Try this one:

Well, I didn't want to be the first one to say it out loud, but yes. From what I have seen most of the people playing on the stream were not very good at it, to say it in a nice way. I keep ragequitting the stream as they make very obvious and elementary mistakes all the time.

Real life example from todays stream: "what? hitting the ground is better than hitting the water? how long has that been a thing?" (i'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist of it)

If you want professionalism, i have a great example. You should have seen the pre-release show of Simcity years ago. Everything was just great and the game was utter crap when it released.

Are you saying that having a professional pre-release show equates to having a crappy game? That can't be what you're saying. I'm going to assume that's not what you're saying.

Yeah, you are right. Probably not the best equation, my apologies.

What I was trying to say is, that the pre-release show is perfectly fine as it is.

Yes, there maybe are people that are just throwing stuff around.

Yes, maybe they are not as familiar with the game as someone that playes the game for over 2000hours.

But you know what?

Those are people right out of the center of the community.

There is enough variety in the schedule to fit everyones interest.

In my opinion, that is professional community management.

I think it's helpful watching people fail, because I then know not to build something like that.

Watching Mechrior fail does nothing helpful, because his failures seem to involve basic building. He's been in the SPH now for ages trying to build a garbage plane in a nominal attempt at trying to mine resources, but it's obvious that he hasn't really played the game much, and his plane will absolutely not take him anywhere where resources might be found.

This guy is kind of bad. I guess they needed someone to fill the early morning slot.

He's an absolute travesty.

Why am I still watching this!? Who am I!?

Just hang in there a wee bit longer. In 20 minutes N1tch will take over.

O M F-ing G !

There are still people in the twitch chat asking if this is really 1.0 or if it's faked. What rock have they been living under?

I want to see a professional preview of 1.0, not a hyped person getting 1.0 for the first time, that's what WE (the players) are supposed to do.

In four hours Scott Manley will stream. He has already released a review on YouTube so you can be sure he knows what he's doing.

Career Mode is still boring.

That's my one longest-lasting problem with the game- early career mode is super un-fun. It's the same "procedurally add boosters to break altitude records" until all of a sudden you're in late-game, where it gets fun. Or at least I hope so with the new bases, physics loading range, science lab tweaks, etc. We'll see, I guess.

"procedurally add boosters to break altitude records"

That is not a thing anymore. If your first launch reaches orbit, you automatically get all the altitude records, and some speed and distance records too.

And if you find unlocking things boring you may be better off in sandbox. I find sandbox boring so enjoy career more.

I've already committed myself to playing stock career and writing a blog about it. I'm starting to dread this decision.

I support you in this decision.

I don't find unlocking things boring, I just don't feel like Squad has changed the part progression all that much. It's really the early stuff that is not a lot of fun. And of course, you still have to start manned.

I've already committed myself to playing stock career and writing a blog about it. I'm starting to dread this decision.

I'm going to make a series called "Doing Career Correctly!" in 1.0. My first craft will literally be two Mk1 command pods in an hourglass shape, with some Mystery Goo attached. I'll use it to roll around the KSC and collect Science. It will be very grindy.

By this point, I'll hopefully have enough Science to get a Stayputnik, which I'll use for planes, along with a thrust-limited Flea booster and some of the little control surfaces. I'll fly around the KSC with my li'l remote-controlled plane, setting some altitude and speed records in the process. I'll then gradually unlock plane parts and maybe even a cockpit.

After I can fly manned planes (hopefully using actual jet engines!). I'll play with those and break more records. Maybe I'll try out a parabola into the upper atmosphere and see how well it works.

Then, I'll go ahead, grab a probe core and some SRB's, and try to get the thing into suborbital space and back safely. If I can manage that, it's time for Val to get off her couch and be a pilot at last!

I won't fly manned missions to anywhere unless there's a successful unmanned mission first. I'll actually build dedicated rigs to test new parts (only one part at a time, because if I test two and the mission fails, I won't know the cause). I won't let any debris crash on land, for fear of disturbing the Kerbals who (presumably) live there. I will never terminate a mission, revert a flight, or quicksave. If a Kerbal is stranded somewhere, it is my job to immediately rescue him/her. If a Kerbal dies, I won't fly any more Kerbals until several successful unmanned tests are done. I'll provide two seats per Kerbal if a mission lasts more than a week. I'll try not to fly a Kerbal again until three or four other Kerballed missions have passed. No Better than Starting Manned, no mods, no nothing.

I will play Kerbal Space Program like it is a real space program, and it will be incredibly difficult. But, at the very least, I'll be even more proud when I land my first Kerbal on the Mun or send him to Duna. If I don't go insane first.

...would anyone even watch this, if I made a YouTube series that didn't show too much of the grinding?

-Upsilon

[EDIT: On-topic, I rarely watch Twitch streams, but I tuned in this morning. Watched for about five minutes and was incredibly disappointed. I share the sentiments of many on this thread...]
