1.0 preview twitch fail...

I'm going to make a series called "Doing Career Correctly!" in 1.0. My first craft will literally be two Mk1 command pods in an hourglass shape, with some Mystery Goo attached. I'll use it to roll around the KSC and collect Science. It will be very grindy.

...

...would anyone even watch this, if I made a YouTube series that didn't show too much of the grinding?

I might watch that.

Are you guys out of your mind?

Those are just normal people that took their time to show you a game that now reached a full release. Unpaid... on their own expenses.

And you guys are demanding 100% successfull spaceprograms when the content of KSP has changed by a massive amount. (...)

Edit: KSP is about experimenting and failing, if you have forgotten.

No, not at all. I don't mind that the streamers appear to be playing 1.0 for the very first time in their lives. That's great. Because they're going through the same things we're going through, and we can relate to that. Seeing rockets unexpectedly blow up at launch and re-entry because of the new aero model is fun and instructive.

What I do mind is that Squad appeared to pick streamers who play KSP itself for the first time, and who do streaming for the first time. What's worse is that apparently they are experienced. I just heard a bloke proclaim "Oh, we have an LV-T30 now? That's new, never seen it before. How is it different from the T45? Oh, more thrust? Why would I pick the T45 then?" Not sarcastically but seriously. Then he proceeds to get the staging wrong on a simple rocket that doesn't do more than put a one-Kerbal capsule into orbit. We're not talking about a Whackjob monstrosity here, just two liquid stages and some boosters.

On top of it, you want streamers who make GREAT streams. Streaming is NOT a live youtube video. There's also an element of interacting with your audience, using your voice in such a way that it engages the audience instead of putting it to sleep, etc. It appears to me that Squad did a bad job (no job) in selecting the right people for introducing their final product to the world. And that's a shame.

I have to agree with the OP and most opinions critical of the "1.0 Launch Marathon" ... Seriously, it's okay to have, for dramatic purposes, ONE streamer getting all excited at the new features like a kid on Christmas Day, but I did not wanted to watch someone fiddle helplessly without knowing even the most basic features added way back in 0.24.x...

Fail indeed. It all rests on Manley at this point.

Ok, DasValdez's stream right now is much better than the previous streams (and even better than his own yesterday).

Indeed, now that he has actually -played- the game a few hours...

yes, much better than his yesterdays. You can definitely see he has had some time to prepare. Also, he is quenching some burning questions for a lot of people :)

It seems that preparation is the key! This is a great look at the new aero on spaceplanes.

I'm not ready to give up. Close, but not there yet.

I did close the stream but I will check back in about half an hour. Perhaps by then he's done fooling around and gets back to showing more serious things.

Yeah he's just doing what everybody else did.

And he also admitted to not playing 1.0 much before the stream. Sigh.

It's sad. Thousands of us can't wait for 1.0 and we're stuck instead watching a dozen people who can't bother to do more than install the game before their stream.

The forum mods have it even worse.

You don't want to know how much moderating the hype gigathreads need.

Back on topic : the streams have been pretty okay in my opinion, although I wish the changelog handed to the streamers had had a "SHOW OFF THESE FEATURES FIRST".
