How 'bout "No"?

Recommended Posts

With old aero I needed 11,5 km/s dV to get to low Eve orbit. With the new aero model this figure should be around 8-9 km/s, am I right?

Perhaps a bit less, current designs tend to focus on high initial TWR, followed by an sleek core who sustain speed until you get out of the worst atmosphere.

However getting 32 ton cargo up to 7 km/s with high TWR would be hard to say it simple.

Ha, you say hard I say challenge :)

Seriously though, I might even attempt that with Karbonite, but certainly not stock.

In theory. However, thrust now scales with atmospheric pressure (as it should), and many engines have very poor atmospheric isp, especially at the high pressures of Eve's lower atmosphere. Plus Eve ascent vehicles tend to be pancakes anyway.

It's impossible? I had a small station orbiting gilly. Still, seems a pain.

If I learned something from playing KSP, than that nothing is impossible... but still :D

What you can do is, sending an empty rocket to eve, fuel it there and leave the ISRU and the Drills behind before you ascent.

Nothing in the objectives says that the ore you put on Gilly actually has to come from Eve. I wonder if you can land on Eve, mine 2850 ore, convert it to fuel, and then go to Gilly and mine 2850 ore there to complete.

You're kidding, right? Landing on Gilly is pretty easy - just use your RCS to descend and land, and then just push yourself to the ground.

Now, mining all that ore on Eve and bringing it up would be a REAL challenge...

Ore ;) what you could do is just drop an ore collector on Eve using chutes leaving a sister craft in orbit. Once landed fill up with 2850 ore then forget that craft, switch to the sister craft and land on Gilly and refill with another 2850 ore. Contract complete.

AFAIK each objective only needs completing once and not with the same craft. I had a contract where I had to go into LKO, do some stuff then land. I launched one craft, did the LKO stuff in another then on my next launch I got the 'landed on kerbin' objective checked and the contract completed.
