A BIG thank you to this community

A few months ago I stumbled across KSP. At first I was lost as to what to do! Youtube videos did help me, however once I joined this forum I've learnt much much more!

I think the most impressive part of this forum is its members.......you lot! Ive been helped soooo much here, even when asking noob style questions I ought to know, however, unlike other forums I've been on, not one member has mocked the question. That to me is a sign of a great community.

Ive managed to introduce a few of my friends to KSP recently and they love it as much as I do, yet the first thing I tell them to do is come here, possibly the greatest forum on earth.

Thankyou to each and every one of you, and I honestly mean that :)

That's great to hear! As much as there can be a bit too much negativity from time to time, it is a very helpful community. And like you say, it's not often you come accross comments mocking newbie questions.

That's very good to hear. I often tell newcomers that we have a wonderful community here, so it's nice to have that corroborated.

I'm pleased that you've had such a positive forum experience. We must be doing something right. :)

Happy landings!

Yep, the community is unique.

I used to play a popular MMORPG years ago, and all I learned from that community was: a) it consists of almighty holy gurus and B) I'm a lol n00b. Not very nice experience, I'd say.

The good thing about KSP is, it's different. In many ways. In a way it's community deals with us wannabe rocket scientists, too. Guys, you're something.

This game definitely have one of the least toxic, and most resistant to toxic behavior, community I have been a part of. Memories from my early teenage years of Blizzard forums still haunt me at night.

Community here is better than average. You rarely come across what I refer to as "technical arrogance". Knowledge is power, or something like that and in the field, many folks feel that surrendering knowledge is the same as surrendering power; Those with only a little knowledge are prone to be stingy with it.

The patience and generosity exhibited in this forum truly demonstrates the abundance of knowledge it harbors.

In my life I wear many hats... one of my semi-regular gigs is as a professional photographer. One thing I've found is the truly great photographers are not scared to share their knowledge. many will flat tell you how they made this absolutely incredible photo to the point you could too. Joe McNally said something relating to if you're good enough sharing your knowledge makes the field and yourself better, so you have nothing to fear. If you are scared to share what you know for fear of losing your place, that you shall be dethroned once your secrets are known, then you really aren't anywhere near as good as you think you are.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
