Clouds

Recommended Posts

This isn't really a question but either way:

So there's these cloud mods which give you clouds. I like clouds. So I set forth on a 5 minute journey to find out those mods. I came *so* close to completing the journey, but there was one problem: I couldn't get a link for E.V.E. (Enviromental something something....) So I call you now:

Links to EVE mod?

Windows person here, CKAN has proven to be more of an obstacle than a useful tool. Mainly because it doesn't work with anything outside of its own repository and you have to manually insert mods for a few things.

Just install mods manually, it's just drag-and-drop anyway.

That's how I roll, too. Tried CKAN, when it works it works very well indeed, but when it doesn't work it's hard to tell why. I've found it simpler to just install manually (though in fairness I only use a dozen or so mods).

I'm a CKAN convert.

While drag and dropping zips is easy enough, at 60 mods, the process of installing, updating and maintaining them was beginning to hamper my enjoyment of the game.

The whole thing is pretty much a breeze now.

I tend to modify some mods.

For the clouds, I never visit Jool or Eve, so I delete those from the mod. Does CKAN let me do that?

Yes, but you'll need to reapply the changes after any update.

I started out not really liking CKAN at first, when it was new and glitchy. They've cleaned it up quite a lot since then, and it's been very stable and easy to use recently. Now I love being able to fire it up and check if any mods need updating, before launching the game.

Same here. It does a couple of things well, but the things it does not do make intervention required anyway, so you would better just do it all by hand and be done with it.

I've never understood the point of CKAN. Why would I need help dragging and dropping a folder into another folder?

Installing mods in KSP is easy, yes. However, checking 50+ mod pages for updates and manually tracking what version you have installed is time consuming. I use CKAN to ease keeping my mods up to date.
