Detailed StarWars AT-ST [static craft]

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

More starwars stuff!!

I know it wont walk using stock parts but I really wanted to see if I could build one. So build I did. It fits two kerbals inside the cockpit and has a surprising level of detail.

I was following an image from the return of the Jedi, the battle on Endor so its modeled on the classic look of the AT-ST. I made one 'stowed' standing version and one in a different pose.

As it turned out the way I built it made it very tricky to move into another position..

So it does nothing other than look awesome. And that's ok with me!

I literally have no words. The detail is astounding. I'll download when I can. You should sketchfab it

Glad to hear it, and thank you!

You need to make a Star Wars pack... That is awesome. Also, you or someone else should motorize it with IR mod.

I am going to give it a go.

Tell me, does that cockpit have detail? Or is it just an empty shell with nothing in it save the seats themselves? I hate empty shells.

Part count is over 400 so I left out the internal detail. I can however add it and put it here tomorrow. :)

Hey man, I could help you at least try to make a walking version of this, I think I know how.

*With Infernal Robotics.

I will give it a go soon mate, but if you want to try too, feel free!

Hey I've managed to get it to (semi) walk with IR and IR sequencer. I'm still tweaking it but I'll post a video of it ounce I've got it walking smoothly.

(I'll post a photo here when I can)

That would be amazing dude! I look forward to seeing the video!

Where's the at at? Anyone remember that dude that built one way back? He also built the transformer and most detailed bird wings I've ever seen. He was like an engineer or something.

Dude was my hero.

---edit---

It was hooptiej, here's his AT-AT

And his bird.

I wish this guy was still around.

LOL,

I'm sure we can do better these days. I wont make one, I don't want any part mods. KSP takes too much of my free time as it is!

I'll try and fine tune the walking more since It still looks pretty drunk. I'm might try and get the head to swivel too.

Btw do you mind If I create a separate post for this? I'm thinking of using it for future star wars stuff too ;) (AT-AT's maybe). Edited by SpriteCoke

You just made my day mate. That was amazing!

I'm sure you realized that I made it in a very strange way.. It may not be possible to make the head turn because of the way I made it. If you can it would be awesome!

Yes feel free to use the craft as you wish mate. As long as you credit me for making the model I don't mind.

Wow, this is perfect. I don't even have to try my own now. Yours is so good! Thanks for building it.

That was unexpected, thank you so much Mr scumbag. :D I havent opened this in the newer KSP version so its possible some parts may have moved. (yup, some parts have changed), I will rebuild this at some point, its a great show piece. This would have been so much easier with the no offset limits.. Ho hum.

You been working on any more madness?

Yep, I'm working on a video right now and will probably use your craft for a short scene. I think this is ok, of course you get credit.

And yes, some parts have changed and the craft looks weird. I made some quick fixes. But I hope you will release a new version. And you have to use the no offeset limits mod. It's so good to have it. Hopefully you can reduce the part count, I didn't expect it to be so high, I was suprised when I first loaded it.

I am a dab hand with the no limits mod now so I know I can rebuild it with fewer parts.

And sure you are more than welcome to use it how you like!

This is surely amazing ! But it seems that the download links are not working. Please can you update them ?

Thanks for making such beautiful model

A pleasure!

It may have been changed by game updates man, so I will need to have a look at it first to make sure its up to my standards of re-release. I am re-building my curiosity rover at the moment but I will see if I have time to fix this up and release it again.

Im not into Star Wars that much. But this is absolutely mind-blowing! Amazing! The fact that it uses no modded parts, just blows my mind. Sometimes i think i see a part from a mod, but when i look closer, its stock. Nice job! 10/10!
