What you would need to do is remove the UPGRADES block from the MFT parts 'SSTUModularFuelTank' module. Cool, I had thought about trying that mod... from reading the thread, it seems like the mass of supplies seems not scaled to kerbals, though (for NASA, the non-recycled supplies (mostly food) amount to ~1.84kg/day). It really is a very interesting mod for game mechanics, in regards to the mass of supplies I'll tag @ShotgunNinja here and see what he says. I would strongly recommend you to try it, best with a new install and only install the mods that it currently supports as it changes very core modules such as electric charge, ModuleScience and ModuelDataTransmitter. I think he's using RL values, and I think they should likely be downscaled to reflect the tiny stature of kerbals. In stock KSP, it likely doesn't matter as all the craft are grossly over-capable. In a scaled system, the mass would become prohibitive, I think. Regardless, it's a very cool looking mod . They look absolutely phenomenal, and, honestly, they are some of the best engines I've seen made for KSP. In the OP, there's something entitled "Ship Core: Engines", but I don't see anything that includes just the engines, mounts, and the assets for said parts. The main reason I'm asking is because, after looking in the GitHub repo, I can make out some of what's needed, but in no way can I find them all without many, many, errors and quite a bit of time with trail-and-error. I'm also not just asking this for myself, but I believe many others would like easy access to extraordinary engines as well. Some users may lack the time to cherry pick out every asset for the engines and mounts to work properly. Other users may not be very computer literate, so they wouldn't know were to look, or even others that don't have the understanding of a config when reading part / MM files. I was hoping @Shadowmage, or anyone else generous enough that's more familiar with the structure of this mod; thus being much more proficient at gathering the correct assets, would make the engine + mount pack. I'm usually not the one to ask for something like this, but the folder structure, and the amount of other assets for completely different parts in the general vicentidy didn't help when I tried doing this myself... Sorry for the long post, but I do hope either @Shadowmage, or some other generous user will read this, and possibly make it a reality. Obviously it's using expanding urethane foam, so it would need different media for space use. Still, the idea that the part need only be a printer, then the structure gets printed is fairly interesting. Akira_R Posted April 27, 2017 Share Posted April 27, 2017 @tater I have also found that 3x - 4x scale increases work fantastically with stock balanced parts, I am using 3.2x in my GPP install with essentially only SSTU parts for lifters and such, also no stock capsules, using a cut down BDB install for the Mercury and Gemini capsules. While I don't try and make any replicas I find that with stock balancing at these scales you get very realistic looking rockets. In fact the only reason I haven't gone up to a 6.4x or 10x rescale is the headache I would get trying to rebalance everything since I use a huge suite of mods lol. It's sad that a mod that has some of the best engine models I've seen can't be used without using the rest of the pack... It's really quite frustrating... No ill-will to @Shadowmage if that came off the wrong way. Honestly, with how good the engines are, I'd actually be willing to spend money on them as if they were unofficial DLC, and that's the truth. You have some fantastic modeling + texture abilities I guess I'll go back to MM'ing engines from other packs to fit my needs like I've been doing. I really just wanted authentic, good looking engines rather than coping a them from Stock / KW / AIES / NearFuture / Ven's / etc. and changing the values to fit the other engine I was going for. This required creating a new custom icon shader that mimicked the stock icon shaders specialized functionality, while having all of the extra texture slots and functions of the masking shader. As a result, the part-icons now have proper specular, AO, and preset-mask colors: A bit of a random screenshot showing some of what the new masking system will be capable of (and some of the new mask layouts), and what has been taking up so much of my time recently (and why there have been no recent releases/no releases coming in the immediate future): Still a lot of work to do on the remaining mount textures/masks, and a bit of cleanup work on a few of the tank textures. Still have the MSRB and MUS parts to rework as well, but they should go fairly quickly compared to what has already been done. I have not yet seen any hints of when 1.3 will be officially out, but it is probably safe to say that this stuff won't be ready until sometime -after- 1.3 is released. [...snip...] Nobody said that they can't be used without the rest of the pack. They most certainly can be. You merely need to be willing to put forth a bit of effort as that is not the intended use of the mod. As was quoted above, if you can provide a exact list of parts that you want to keep, I can let you know what assets and configs can be kept/removed (and why, as sometimes it is not obvious why a model/texture/config is necessary). For a quick estimation, for keeping only engines, you would need to keep: the engine model, texture, and part-config files for each engine you want to keep (from /assets and /parts/shipcore/engines) the engine mount models, textures, and model definition config files (from /assets, and /data/modeldata) plugin folder + .dll FX folder most of the other non-part/model configs found in the '/data' folder (some are needed for the SSTU plugin to startup properly). real-plume configs from the mod-integration folder if RP is desired. If it works, you're good to go. @Shadowmage, if you get time to actually play, you should seriously consider a 3.2-4X upscale. No other changes to the game are needed, and SSTU sings in that rescale. Things that are utterly boring in stock actually take thought. You'll build a minimal craft to get to orbit... and it will look like a real rocket. Sigma Dimensions makes it so easy to play with different sizes, scales, and atmo height. Going back to stock Kerbin is really, really hard to use anymore. In SD I set the atmosphere to 1.1X with 4X worlds. I want to have that sense that Kerbin is big. RSS is better still, but the complications in terms of what I can use to play it make it less desirable right now than simple upscales.
