I love the new exhaust effects.

So does this mean that, in some way, catastrophic destruction will only create one explosion object, possibly size-dependent on the number of parts?

That\'s what I\'m hoping. Alternatively, create all the objects on part load and just enable them when the part needs to explode.

I also really like the new exhaust effect for the small LFE. Before, it looked too large for the low power the engine has. However, I think that the SRB-like effect looks really inappropriate on the radial aerospike engine. :/

Would it be possible to make an exaust that looks just like the LFE exaust, but is yellow-ish in color?

Yeah, go into the part.cfg for the aerospike and change fx_exhaustflame_yellow to fx_exhaustflame_blue (I forget the exact name)

Yeh that would be great. I\'ve nagged Harv ever since ~0.8 to change the particle effects for explosions, its the one thing that really brings the game down to a grinding halt, or at least generates a lot of staggering etc as a huge amount of particles are loaded and drawn during an explosion. I realise the explosions initially in the game were very hackish and placeholders, but its time they were updated, and I know the main issue in optimising it has been waiting for the latest unity release with the particle system update - thats now happened.

Will be interesting to see how these new ones turn out, sounds promising. :)

Oh but aerospike engine exhaust should be yellow not blue. That aerospike engine is pretty much strictly first stage only since you can\'t attach decoupler below it (and first stage engine is kind of the point of aerospike nozzles given its ability to burn efficiently at wide range of attitudes). First stage LFEs almost always burn hydrocarbon fuel like RP-1 which means their exhaust will be yellow due to unburnt carbon.

That is what I meant - I asked if it would be possible to make the exhaust effect for the aerospike use the same particle effect as the regular LFE only reddish/yellow in color instead of blue?

There's no small degree of irony in complaining about a necro which was itself posted a month ago.

Anyway, report it, skip it, or add something new to it, please, but complaining about necros just contributes to forum clutter.

Closing new, since it seems to have run its course.
