Whats your spider do you hate the most?

I know the answer is "all of them" but if theres one spider you see alot of that you HATE, what is it? For me, it would be the Harvestman, I live right infront of a field, and at certain times of the year, about this time theres loads, they're not that big, but I hate the way they move, their body is like a sphere and they have long and very thin legs, and move like... shiver and I see them alot compared to other spiders, which is the reason I'm not counting wolf spiders, I've only ever seen them dead, maybe alive like once, but I cant count them, so, what spider do you hate the most? only counting ones you come into contact with at a reasonable rate. :0.0:

It turns out that harvestmen cannot be the spiders you hate the most, simply because they aren't spiders.

The spiders I hate the most are the woodlouse spiders (They're big for what we have here in Illinois, and are a nice creepy shade of red) and the wolf spiders (which are a bit more common and can be a bit larger than the woodlouse spiders, but they aren't red).

In the meantime, please don't give me flashbacks to Friday. *shivers* Had to take out 3 spiders that day, it was not fun. What made it even more ironic was that I posted on a forum game about how the spiders are worse in the summer than the winter that morning before all the spiders came out.

Banana Spiders.

I. Hate. Them.

Mother of God, these things are everywhere during the summer here in Miami, Flordia. *shudders*

EDIT:

They may not be called "Banana Spiders" but they're commonly referred to that. I don't know, all I know is that they're creepy as all hell.

I don't care for the Orbweavers; We have a lot of them here and they get very big (they also bite, but they're not venomous)... nothing worse than walking face-first into a giant Orbweaver web at night. While I was serving in the military, I was bitten on the back of the leg by some unknown spider, which put me in the infirmary/hospital for 2 weeks with a parasitic blood infection. Not fun.

I'd hate them too if they were everywhere, though they look like they would mostly occupy webs. At least they're easier to avoid and more out of the way then... (Though I must admit, it looks like it would take quite a large tissue box to kill them)

In the meantime, I cannot believe that I am now looking up pictures of the creepy spiders we have up here.

You'd think they'd be easier to avoid, right?

Wrong.

They love to occasionally have webs just so conveniently low so that you can walk face-first into them. Perhaps right into the spider, in some cases. Other times there will be twenty or thirty over your head in the tree/phone pole/telephone wires/whatever. It is extremely creepy.

There's a GeoCache around my school in the middle of the dense tree area called the Spider Cache. Guess why. They say it's best to go in at night with a flashlight.

Here in Northern Alabama there isn't usually a terrible spider scourge... It's usually cicadas and similar bugs ( shivers).

But when a spider does show up I usually just let it run around until it's out of view. I guess I shouldn't, huh?

I have to agree with you, Nova. I think they are fascinating. I don't like having them in my house, but I think they are fascinating.

I am the spider catcher in my house. When the shriek of alarm comes, I grab a drinking glass and a piece of paper and rush to the scene before someone gets hurt (whether that be a family member or the offending spider). I quickly trap the spider under the glass, slide the paper underneath then carry the whole assembly outside where the spider belongs. If it is a particularly interesting species, I'll look at it through the glass for a bit before I let it go. Often, the spider seems to be doing the same thing: looking at me with its iddy biddy eyes from inside the glass.

One type of spider that I find particularly interesting is the jumping spider. They pounce on their prey, and they'll also attack when threatened. Tap a small twig in front of them and they'll go at it. They are tiny little things but they are strong. You can feel the forces of the attack on the twig in your finger tips. Impressive. No wonder they and their ilk are such great nightmare fodder.

I pick up tarantulas, and vinegaroons in the house and let them go (with my hand). My daughter will pick them up with a cup or something. We never kill them, they eat pests like crickets.

Spiders can be annoying. Spiders can be dangerous. But spiders are magnificent and incredibly useful creatures.

Arachnophobia is very real but also one of the most irrational phobia's. The critters caught by spiders are overall more dangerous than the spiders themselves.

never met a spider that my cats wouldnt eat.

Beware of the Goliath bird eating spider (Theraphosa Blondi). They can grow up to 28cm (11in), they might eat your cat.

Most of the spiders here in germany are rather small ... fortunately ... I would be creeped out by huge spiders like the aforementioned banana spider :D

I don´t think that I hate any spiders, buit tghere surely are some of them I´d classify as annoying.

Especially the one cross spider which one night, when I slept with an open window, got into my bedroom

and wove a huge net between the window frame, a chair and the TV set,

so that, when I woke up and wanted to go out of the room, I nearly walked into the net, with the cross spider hanging in the midst of it.

Fortunately I saw the spider hanging in the net just a moment before walking into it ... and then was able to cath the spider, throw her out and destroy the net.

Also annoying are a few of the Pholcidae that inhabit a few corners of my home.

Usually I tolerate them, if they get too much into my living space I throw them out ... but I had some of them in the past, which were truely annoying ...

they would, while I was sitting in front of the PC or Laptop, quicly let themselves down on a strand of spider silk, so that they would end directly before my face.

In one case it was even that I was lying in the bed, working on the laptop aqnd then doze away for a few minutes ...

when I awoke I saw nothing but 8 moving legs hanging directly before my face.

I call this a rather frightful awakening :D

Unfortunately the spider vanished so quickly that I wasn´t able to get my spidercatcher (nope I am not one of them who catches them with bare hands) before it was gone.

(but I think I caught her on another occasion where it tried the same trick when I was sitting in front of my PC ;) )

With all this behavior I´d classify the spiders as a rather intelligent order of animals

I don't hate spiders, am not afraid of them, so it's always me that has to get them out of the house.

I would gladly let them crawl here and there, but not everyone at home shares my opinion on the matter...

(However, I squeal every time I find an earthworm in the lettuce.)
