KSP is coming to the Wii U

Sigh... I expected this to be a hoax, but it turns out it is not. :o

How the heck are they going to get it even running on that low end cpu??

And why not let this unproven company that does the porting job at least prove themselves capable of porting to the next generations systems before starting on yet another system??

I fear that all these decisions will be the end of Squad and KSP. Wii U port is for sure doomed to failure as no third party games are selling well on that console and it is not going to get better now that nintendo has announced a new system.

This makes absolutely no sense... They make good games, but their management is really all over the place :(

This is a joke, right?

You would think so... But then turns out it was posted on the official Nintendo channel....

I really hope I am just having a nightmare right now and will wake up to reality soon.

Can't be a joke, that is the official YouTube channel. Good to hear, about the only console it would be worthy of. Building ships with a touch screen. Not sure it will be better than PC, but better than XBox or PS4.

And that is pretty much the only positive. Otherwise it has as low end cpu as last generation consoles and is a platform where every third party games fail to make profits, as the few people who own the Wii U only buys first party nintendo games.

So even if by some miracle it actually runs on that system, it will not sell well at all and is doomed for failure.

On top of that you have now a tiny company with the only trackrecord being SIMPLE smartphone games that all look the same handling 3 ports at the SAME TIME.

We dont even know if they can handle one system and yet they are porting it to 3 different systems and one of them having a completely different architecture.

None of that is true. The CPU is higher than last generation, lower than PS4 and XBox One, but still enough to run KSP. Third party games have been making profits just fine on Wii U, they just had trouble at first launch, but that is no longer an issue. In fact I think indie games tend to do better than other 3rd party titles because of the eShop. I can't speak for Flying Tiger, I know nothing about them but they are making the other two versions too.

Hmm, the video just went private. Did somebody jump the gun or did someone hack the channel and upload a fake video.

The former, almost certainly. If it were a fake video, it would have been removed entirely. SQUAD is probably going to make an announcement within the next few days about it.

My own $0.02 on the matter: the Unity 5 improvements to the KSP engine will certainly ensure the game runs better than it would using Unity 4 on the Wii U. Seeing as much of the advantage of the other two consoles mostly comes down to multi-core processing, and that's not really going to help them much with KSP, it will probably run well enough.

I would think so too, but if you watched the video, some of the scenes were taken directly from fan videos. One in particular was the opening probe fly by from

as well as the ending scene to the same video which did seem odd. If it was just jumping the gun, it's too late now. Edited by Alshain

6-year olds and 40 year woman in yoga pants aren't exactly good audience for a space flight simulator i think

Well I can imagine that 6 year olds can have a lot of fun with KSP. Even when they get nowhere, the explosions should be fun.

There is nothing wrong with that.

Just a wise company's decision:

As Long as it didnt hit the daylight that quite a load of bug's will not be fixed until that Project is dropped dead, squeeze as much out as possible.

besides that i really love that game and enjoy playing.

Hahaha, oh boy. So again, to clarify....

-Flying tiger is making the KSP port.

-Flying Tiger has a strong track record of impressive....iphone games, including gems such as "Air Raid" and "Toy Raid: Elite Forces".

-The last time they made a console game was the 2004 PS2 classic "Growlanser Generations"

-Now they are learning how to work with the PS4 PS4 and Xbox1 PS4, Xbox1, AND the Wii U, all for the first time.

I was giving them the benefit of the doubt previously. I could see a rookie team learning how work with 1 system, figuring it out, and porting KSP.

But now they are doing this for 3 different and unique console architectures?

yeah OK gg.

This isnt even a PC mustard race argument, nor a "The Wii U is too weak to run it" argument.

This is you hiring the cheapest no-name devs and giving them a herculean task.

It's not like they have to write a whole engine to make it work for every console, that's the part Unity takes care of.

They "only" have to add console specific addition/changes.

This is not the same as porting a game like GTA from PS4 to PC.

Besides, what's the big problem if the PC version is unaffected by the 3 console versions?
