Mil Mi-24 Hind-D Replica

Recommended Posts

I first went to this thread thinking "OK, someone's probably made a somewhat decent but heavily modded replica of the Hind. I'll check it out, but I don't expect it to be particularly impressive." Then I get here, and see that the craft is made mostly of stock parts, with really only the rotors being modded. Then I see that cockpit. Then I see who made it.

Great job Azimech! You deserve this rep!

Shall I make a version with adjustable landing gear?

YES YES YESSS...

Also. I recently asked you to do me a "small" favor and create several vehicles for something me and One Way Films are going to do some time later on. I can see the troop transport capabilities of this helicopter. You can leave out the Mil Mi-26, won't need that anymore with this thing. I just need the part count.

Nice!  I love that cockpit canopy.

The overall shape is good Azi. Hmm. It looked different unpainted. Did you change it recently? Can you put back up the REAL pictures of it Azi?

The real pictures? I had to adjust the nose because the original air scoop got like twice as big, ruining the shape.

Only for you, Majorjim, and soon I'm going to delete the pictures. Now the helicopter has it's proper colours, I really hate the white one.

Thanks @Azimech . We will have to agree to disagree! It is definitely the best made helicopter I have seen here! Any chance a current bearing would fit inside it?

Thank you for your kind compliment! I really wanted my fav. heli to look like the real thing, seems those hours were worth it :-)

A current bearing ... probably will. A working stock turboshaft ... probably never.

Well you succeeded. The shape is very good. How would one of your Turboshafts respond to being Tweakscaled?

Horribly. Tweakscale does a few things wrong, so much that I rather create my own parts for structural work than use those under the unholy spells of Tweakscale. But ... these experiences are from a few years back ... I should try again.

A few things Tweakscale does wrong:
*occasionally ignoring colliders (both with ModuleEngineFX/thrustTransform and wheel colliders)
*giving BreakingForce and BreakingTorque ridiculous values ... if one could sneeze in game ... the parts would fly off!
*ignoring or giving wrong values to thermalMassModifier (with the result of parts overheating due to sunlight and exploding ... a joke but you get the idea)

And a problem with lighter parts outside of the influence of Tweakscale: the lighter the more flexible the joints become. Nothing we can adjust in a config file, this excrements is hardcoded.

But who knows ... I'm currently busy with an oscillating single action steam engine and almost finished ... maybe I'll take a look later.
