I wanted to do something with the Elcano challenge so I built a number of rovers for this role. Together with Mechjeb rover autopilot and it's stabilizer, these will run for hours unattended without problems. They're all 100% stock, some have color but if you don't have Kerbpaint you can open them in vanilla anyway.

All miners feature an ISRU, a drill and ore tank, two fuel cell arrays and three seats minimum.

This was the first, the ALRM1, Amphibious Long Range Miner 1 "Amphiphile Alpha"

Followed by an updated version, the ALRM1-SE "Amphiphile Omega".

Difference: Better aerodynamics, therefore improved safe speed from max 35 m/s to max 55 m/s on flat terrain!

Safe cornering speed increased from 20 m/s to 35 m/s!

Other stats remained the same.

Soon my Kerbin Elcano mission report will be updated; my brave kerbals are almost home.

A bit of a strange sibling is the ALRM2, this one can sail, drive and fly! Landing on water is permitted, taking off from water not possible. Max ground speed is obviously higher than with the Alpha due to the tail preventing the nose from pitching up.

My newest addition, made specially for other planets and moons without water, the LRM1 "Lithophile Lambda". Based on the same chassis as the ALRM1 but longer and features very strong reaction wheels for stabilizing on low gravity worlds.

It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. Just completed my Minmus Elcano with it, will soon start Eve and Duna as well.

Thanks to one small change to the mod "Rover Wheel Sounds", they all sound bad-ass too!

If requested I can post a launcher for the LRM1.
