Would you buy a DLC (or a whole new game) for KSP that was for realism?

  1. 1. Do you want a Realistic DLC or new Game?

Hello! I want to start out that if this is the wrong place to post this i'm sorry, i'm new here (not really, i barely ever use the forum!). But anyway, would you buy a Expansion Pack for KSP that was exactly like Realism Overhaul but not buggy and insanely laggy? Im guessing the issue with this right now is the Unity engine. But imagine what KSP would be like in Untiy 5! So many possibilities! So, imagine a DLC for KSP that would make it Realistic and make the game run using Unity 5... Clearly this would be a gift for the very long time players or the science fanatics, not something for beginners! But still, they are planning for Multiplayer DLC right now so i doubt having and expansion at all would be much of an issue! Tell me what you think!

EDIT: Again, Amazed on how close the poll is! But what i meant on 'Realism' i meant like, having Real Planet Scale and our real solar system, Rocket Engine Thrust, Aero dynamics, and realistic progression. Not just like... Heres a Saturn 5 rocket, now take it apart and put it back together, All i meant was have real scale and realistic mods... But not CRAZY realistic like RO is right now, and the lag just adds to it D: !!

Like how they said on the wiki: Squad is committed to add multiplayer to the finished game after the success of the user created mod KMP, or Kerbal MultiPlayer. Squad says “Multiplayer is something we had planned to do after it was all said and done, but it’s time for us to start looking at it nowâ€Â.[22] With 0.24 Squad specifically states that they working on the first steps to add multiplayer after career is finished.

Meaning this would be an OPTIONAL Expansion Pack for the game for players who like science and realistic space.

Imagine these in the stock game, running at 40-180 FPS...

How about this?

Sure, I'd pay money for a Real Solar System. I'd rather have to pay a little money to access a stable, independent mod, than have a mod which is free, hardware-instensive, and has a list of dependencies longer than my arm. I dunno how much money that would be worth over the base game, but I think that'd be the right way to do it.

Regex YOUR personal experience is NOT indicative of 100% of all players in ALL situations. But look at it this way: what if someone designs a ship you find you simply cannot live with out for reasons, but it was designed using DLC parts but you for w/e reason dont know. You dl said ship but it dont wrk. Not having dlc made you not be able to use a ship that would have been the ideal ship for you. Enter your counter here, exit higgs

I don't necessarely need more realism because i like that it is a GAME. But i would pay premium prices for a more professional development and bug fixing attitude. Right now they hop from topic to topic leaving a trail of unfinished, inconsistent parts and bugs delivering half baked stuff.

So basically if someone provides mod parts for free you're fine with downloading said perfect ship but once you have to pay for content it's a major problem. Gotcha.

Also kind of wondering why a ship made for a realistic solar system would be expected to work in the toy solar system? At all? The parts would all be vastly different, use different fuels, etc... It's like it would be a different game, just like Realism Overhaul is now.

I don't think I would, to get the DLC. I might buy it just to give Squad some more money.

Not regex, but I'm gonna answer anyway. How on Earth (or Kerbin or wherever) can a ship designed to be played in a different game than the one you own be "perfect" for you?

Regex show me please where i said anything about being fine with free? Do i use mod part packs? Yup novapunch and proc fairings, but thats beside the point. I would however see if i could duplicate from what i have on hand. As to you 5th please understand if i lack the mods or w/e then its not perfect for me or as i said just now to regex id see if i can duplicate with my stuff on hand.

Then I literally have no clue what you're talking about. If you see a craft built using vastly different parts (seriously, like, everything has to change for Realism Overhaul, KSP is that unrealistic) designed for a vastly different solar system using vastly different (read: sanely measured and realistically represented) fuels, why would you even bother trying to download and use it in the first place if you're just going to try to duplicate it from parts on hand?

E: Seriously, that's like you seeing my ultra-heavy lifter, downloading it, and expecting it to work without all the mods and ModuleManager scripts.

No offense but thats a gaudy and a not so elegant ship in my eyes. Also my rig may implode on that many parts. Id never on record expect a ship or anything to work with out a given mod set. Stop assuming what i think, you will find yourself wrong 99.999999% of the time

I would probably buy it, or I would at least be likely to.

I dont have anything against paid DLCs as a concept (though not every DLC is created equal), however, I don't think that DLC really fits the spirit of KSP, nor does a paid "realism pack", IMHO. It would appear that realism *is* a core tenet of KSP, but a "kerbal" realism, if you like, "realism-lite". I can tailor other aspects of realsim as I like through mods, a DLC would force a certain degree of realism that may or may not fit in with what I want from KSP.

I might buy it, but I would be disappointed that it existed, hence I abstain from voting.

For me the only way I would purchase such a DLC is if it had everything needed to simulate the solar system.

#1 Humans (With correct sizes which includes the pods) Instead of tiny Kerbals.

#2 Complete Solar System and moons in high detail (Such a DLC have higher system requirements than stock)

#3 Correct fuels and realistic tank mass.

No. Balance between difficulty and fun factor in KSP is almost ideal for me. And if it shifts too much, i can always tweak it with a mod or two. I see no reason for SQUAD to shift resources from the core game, to something that can be easily maintained with a mod.
